What do I think about the stability of the solution?
This is a stable product. There are no bugs or glitches. It doesn't crash or freeze. It is reliable.
I'd rate the stability seven out of ten.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
Our system is on Windows, and we need to scale very little. As far as we're concerned, it scales enough for us. We have about 20 users on the solution currently.
How are customer service and support?
We use Microsoft 365, and if we have any issues, we contact support that covers that. We've been satisfied overall with the level of support we get. I have no complaints.
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
We are also using TeamViewer. It targets different areas from Remote Desktop. For example, it allows others to access your system - not you. They each serve different purposes.
How was the initial setup?
The initial setup is great it's very simple and straightforward. I do not find it to be complex at all.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
The pricing is good. I'd rate it five out of five in terms of affordability.
What other advice do I have?
I'm a customer and end-user.
I seldom use the product; however, for me, it works exactly as I need it to.
I'd rate the solution eight out of ten.
Which deployment model are you using for this solution?
Private Cloud

Helps us connect to the legacy system with a straightforward setup
Pros and Cons
- "We use it to connect to the legacy system."
- "We chose this solution because it's a Microsoft Cloud and end-to-end all solution, Cloud 365, and it's all Microsoft, so it made sense to stay with the same VDI solution."
- "There is a limitation on the number of concurrent users."
- "There is a limitation on the number of concurrent users. The limitation is 20, and you have to spin up more than one server, which is not needed at this stage because of customers."
What is our primary use case?
We use it to connect to the legacy system.
What is most valuable?
It is still in the early stages, and the features are purely for connectivity.
What needs improvement?
There is a limitation on the number of concurrent users. The limitation is 20, and you have to spin up more than one server, which is not needed at this stage because of customers. So they reduced it to 12 active users. So if you want to deploy more than 12, you should assess other solutions.
For how long have I used the solution?
We have been using this solution for three months, and it is the latest version. It is deployed on cloud.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
We had issues with stability in the beginning, but it is good now. The stability depends on connectivity in terms of the latency of the internet link.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
We have not tried to scale it. We have 40 users using this solution.
How are customer service and support?
I rate the technical support a six out of ten. It took them a while to understand the technology.
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
We chose this solution because it's a Microsoft Cloud and end-to-end all solution, Cloud 365. In addition, it's all Microsoft, so it made sense to stay with the same VDI solution.
How was the initial setup?
The initial setup was straightforward. The deployment was done with BCX, and it took one week.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
The licensing came with the product, and the solution had no additional costs.
What other advice do I have?
I rate this solution an eight out of ten. Regarding advice, it depends on the requirements and what you need. In this case, it's just for one legacy system. So if you assess more functionality and scalability, we would look at different products because the customers would be prepared to pay for those products.

Easy to use with good availability and reliability
Pros and Cons
- "The solution is stable and reliable."
- "The availability is very good; it's easy to use, and new users especially find it very simple as you just connect and go."
- "We'd like to see more integration with other vendors."
- "Scalability maybe should be improved. I know that there were better products in the market on the side of scalability."
What is our primary use case?
We use the solution for accessing services in our infrastructure, and also, since it's a remote service solution, the desktop infrastructure.
How has it helped my organization?
I use the solution as a necessity in order to connect to some servers or to some desktop infrastructure.
What is most valuable?
The availability is very good.
It's easy to use. New users especially find it very simple. You just connect and go.
The solution is stable and reliable.
You can combine the Remote Desktop Services with Citrix in some form, however, not with all of the features of both. It depends on the situation.
What needs improvement?
We'd like to see more integration with other vendors.
The solution could offer better, easier scalability.
Technical support response times could be better.
For how long have I used the solution?
We've been using the solution for more than ten years.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
The solution is stable and the performance is good. It's reliable. I haven't had issues with it. There are no bugs or glitches.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
Scalability maybe should be improved. I'm not sure, with the latest version, how scalable it is. We had issues a few years ago and I worked closely with the guys that implemented them. I know that there were better products in the market on the side of scalability. It could scale a lot easier or faster.
Right now, we have about 100 people on-premises using the solution. We are a small firm.
How are customer service and support?
I don't have much experience with Microsoft services or support.
As far as I've seen, they are there. However, they are kind of slow. That said, it's not something we can generalize and say, "Well, this is Microsoft." In our experience, they are okay.
How would you rate customer service and support?
Neutral
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
We use Vendor Desktop Infrastructure. We still use Citrix and we used VMware Horizon as well.
How was the initial setup?
I wasn't a part of the initial setup and, therefore, can't speak to the process.
That said, I do not recall the team having any major issues.
We have a team of two engineers that can handle deployment and maintenance tasks. It's good to have a few people available in case someone goes on holidays or has a day off, et cetera.
What about the implementation team?
Our team handled the implementation in-house.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
I'm not aware of the exact costs of licensing. You might have to budget a bit for maintenance, however, it's very minimal.
Which other solutions did I evaluate?
We test a lot of solutions as we use a lot of different products with clients. We must remain sharp, so we spend some time looking into many options to see what would work best for each customer.
If it's something new appears in the market, we will install it in order to see if it's okay to recommend to our customers.
What other advice do I have?
We are a Microsft partner. Microsoft product is used in over 90% of the corporate environment here.
This solution is a technology implemented in our company. My position is in the IT department; I also sometimes help troubleshoot.
We tend to use the latest version. We are using both cloud and on-premises deployments.
I'd rate the solution eight out of ten.
Which deployment model are you using for this solution?
Private Cloud
If public cloud, private cloud, or hybrid cloud, which cloud provider do you use?
Microsoft Azure

Easy to deploy and there are many features available that you can turn on or off depending on your budget
Pros and Cons
- "The solution is easy to deploy and there are many features available that you can turn on or off depending on your budget."
- "I would like to be able to leverage it on other operating systems."
- "The product can be improved by ensuring that people can access it from anywhere and be leveraged on any kind of device virtually."
What is our primary use case?
My current role is as an Assistant General Manager in Point Application Services. I am a global administrator for Microsoft 365. We chose this solution based on the requirements we had.
What is most valuable?
We are using Azure Virtual Desktop, this is the most valuable feature.
What needs improvement?
The product can be improved by ensuring that people can access it from anywhere and be leveraged on any kind of device virtually. We are leveraging it on some laptops and PCs, but not on mobile devices. I would like to see Virtual Desktop leverage these devices in the future.
Furthermore, I would like to be able to leverage it on other operating systems. Currently, we only leverage it on Microsoft Windows. By being able to access other technologies, companies and users can use multiple technologies.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have been using Microsoft Remote Desktop Services for less than 3 months.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
The solution is stable. We are not leveraging all the applications on Azure Virtual Desktop yet.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
We are able to scale up with Microsoft Remote Desktop.
How are customer service and support?
The support we receive from Microsoft is great.
How would you rate customer service and support?
Positive
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
Prior to using Microsoft Remote Desktop, we were using Citrix VDI. We are still using both solutions with different perspectives because on is leveraging on-premise and the other on the cloud.
How was the initial setup?
The initial setup of Microsoft Remote Desktop Services is straightforward. By using Microsoft, you have access to the Wizard, which is helpful.
What about the implementation team?
We used the Microsoft team to deploy the solution.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
I am not responsible for licensing and pricing. I am aware that for Azure we do have an extra license because we are leveraging on different tenants. The first tenant is only leveraging on Microsoft 365.
What other advice do I have?
The solution is easy to deploy and there are many features available that you can turn on or off depending on your budget.
I would rate this solution a 10 out of 10.
Which deployment model are you using for this solution?
Public Cloud

Easy to set up and reliable, but needs an additional control panel
Pros and Cons
- "You can scale the product."
- "The ability to access the computer from a remote location is great."
- "We've had issues with security breaches."
How has it helped my organization?
It's helped with cutting costs and making access easier. People can work remotely using this product. For remote billing, it's working well.
What is most valuable?
The ability to access the computer from a remote location is great. With the Windows Server as a client, we can use more than one computer at a time.
The initial setup is simple.
It's a stable solution.
You can scale the product.
What needs improvement?
We've had issues with security breaches. The main problem is that if we are using this with the individual computer and using a remote desktop, there are some loopholes there. When I implemented this on an individual computer within two or three days it got captured.
There is a problem with the printing and sharing of this program. There is a lot of customized software leaving the market due to this. If somebody wants to run a specific program with the specific settings, they don't want full access to the computer. Then there are some problems that have to be resolved.
We'd like to have an additional control panel available in order o more easily give resources to the computers. There are a lot of restrictions and having a program panel would make things easier. It would help us set up the right access and permissions.
For how long have I used the solution?
We've been using the solution for 20 years. It's been a long time.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
The solution is stable. If it is configured properly, then it'll not create any problems in between. There are no bugs or glitches. It doesn't crash or freeze.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
The scalability depends on the server size. It does not scale on a personal computer, however.
How are customer service and support?
The solution can be configured in such a way that you are able to maintain it yourself. We've never had to reach out to technical support for assistance.
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
For printer redirection, we are using third-party software.
We've used Citrix and VMware in the past.
How was the initial setup?
The implementation is very straightforward. If there are some problems or if clients have installation issues, that can be solved by the technician and it's very easy.
I'd rate the implementation a three out of five in terms of the ease of the process.
It does not take too much time due to the remote desktop. You just have to do some settings on the server or computer. We only need about three people to handle deployment tasks.
What about the implementation team?
I'm a consultant and an integrator. I never call up a third party to help with implementation.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
The solution is not too expensive. It's moderately priced. I'd rate it a three out of five in terms of affordability.
What other advice do I have?
We are using this and Windows Server and Windows 10 or Windows 9, whatever is available.
Normally this is a private cloud, however, right now, a lot of our customers are on AWS and they're using it from the cloud, also.
I'd advise new users to first gather good knowledge and do some planning before the implementation.
I'd rate the solution six out of ten.
Which deployment model are you using for this solution?
Public Cloud
If public cloud, private cloud, or hybrid cloud, which cloud provider do you use?
Amazon Web Services (AWS)

Allows for secure remote work with clipboard blocking capabilities and good reliability
Pros and Cons
- "The solution is scalable."
- "The solution is stable; I haven't had any issues whatsoever, there are no bugs or glitches, it doesn't crash or freeze, and it's reliable."
- "The training profiles could be better."
- "It's not as reliable a protocol as, for example, Citrix."
What is most valuable?
The main feature for us is the ability to block a copy to the clipboard, which we can provide for our users. Sometimes we have to provide only remote desktop features without the ability to copy the content of the remote desktop. The clipboard provides the ability to connect desktops to our users. It's a secure way to work remotely.
It's pretty easy to set up once you are used to the process.
The solution is scalable.
It's pretty stable.
What needs improvement?
It's not as reliable a protocol as, for example, Citrix.
The training profiles could be better.
I'd like to have more granular remote profiles.
We'd like to see on-site multi-fact authentification.
For how long have I used the solution?
We've been using the solution for around ten years.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
The solution is stable. I haven't had any issues whatsoever. There are no bugs or glitches. It doesn't crash or freeze. It's reliable.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
The product is very scalable.
We have about 8,000 users.
How are customer service and support?
Technical support is okay, however, it could be better.
The problem is sometimes I cannot find the right professional. Maybe later I will subscribe to a dedicated professional for me, as sometimes it's difficult to describe my landscape. We lose little time dealing with this. That said, when I work with my dedicated professionals from the Microsoft team, everything becomes much better.
How would you rate customer service and support?
Positive
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
We also use Citrix. We've been using both for about the same amount of time.
It's easy when you work together with those technologies, however, the biggest advantage of Citrix is it is a more reliable protocol. Secondly, it's easier to connect devices. Citrix training profiles are also much better.
When we moved to Citrix, we found that the technology needs much lower bandwidth for our internal network. We need fewer people to support our users. It's much easier to scale when we talk about Citrix.
How was the initial setup?
The initial setup is pretty straightforward. Maybe it's a little bit difficult the first time, however, in our case, we have about three or five solutions professionals who are using these technologies day by day. It's not difficult for them.
We have five people who basically maintain the solution. They are enough for a company that has 8,000 people on the product.
What other advice do I have?
We are a Microsoft client.
I'd rate the solution a six out of ten.
Which deployment model are you using for this solution?
On-premises
Disclosure: My company does not have a business relationship with this vendor other than being a customer.
IT Director at a comms service provider with 11-50 employees

I have been using Microsoft Remote Desktop Services for 10 years.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
The product is stable.
I rate the solution’s stability a seven or eight out of ten.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
One or two people are using this solution.
How was the initial setup?
The initial setup is simple.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
We don't need to buy licenses because we are a Microsoft partner.
What other advice do I have?
We use cloud remote support because we need to assist our customers. It allows them to connect from the web. It's designed to be faster but unsuitable for direct external internet connections. You must set up a VPN and password handling to effectively use it. We primarily work behind the firewall.
Integration is straightforward because it integrates well with Windows Server.
Overall, I rate the solution an eight out of ten.

- "It could be more user-friendly."
What is our primary use case?
The solution helps users to access desktops remotely.
What is most valuable?
The solution performs well and is easy to use.
What needs improvement?
Microsoft's desktop versions have a limit of only one concurrent session. It needs to be improved. Also, they should enhance the solution's user interface. It could be more intuitive compared to TeamViewer and AnyDesk.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
I rate the solution's stability as a nine.
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
We have used VNC Viewer, UltraVNC, and TeamViewer before.

Easily integrates with other Microsoft products, is stable, and scalable
Pros and Cons
- "I give the stability a nine out of ten."
- "We encounter challenges with portability, especially for users of iOS devices."
What is our primary use case?
We predominantly use Microsoft Remote Desktop Services to access our server. Our team works remotely and needs to log in to perform tasks such as billing. We had two options: either use our existing internal infrastructure or move to the cloud. However, we also required remote printing services so that team members could print from their local desktops. To achieve this, we implemented terminal printing services, VPN, and remote desktop. The purpose was to enable both on-site and remote team members to perform billing tasks, invoicing, and tracking truck movement.
What is most valuable?
Microsoft Remote Desktop Services meets all our requirements.
What needs improvement?
We encounter challenges with portability, especially for users of iOS devices. It becomes particularly difficult for us to manage if both ends have iOS devices, whereas having the same infrastructure with Microsoft Windows environments on both ends works seamlessly. The licensing of iOS presents problems for third-party integration and has room for improvement.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have been using the solution for eight months.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
I give the stability a nine out of ten.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
I give the scalability an eight out of ten.
How was the initial setup?
The initial setup is straightforward. We activated the solution smoothly and completed the deployment within a day. Beforehand, the distributor's tech team came to discuss our network and gain an understanding of everything. It took them a day to configure the solution. Although everything went smoothly thereafter, we encountered some initial challenges. Specifically, we faced issues connecting to the local and remote printers, as printing services were not functioning properly. To address this, we worked on it for a day and met our requirements within two to three days. It's worth noting that the solution isn't entirely plug-and-play, and there are challenges that require mitigation.
What about the implementation team?
The implementation was completed in-house with the help of the distributor techs.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
The cost is fair.
What other advice do I have?
I give the solution a ten out of ten.
We have around 70 people using the solution within our Accounting, Billing, and Sales departments.
I recommend Microsoft Remote Desktop Services to others.
Which deployment model are you using for this solution?
On-premises
Disclosure: My company does not have a business relationship with this vendor other than being a customer.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
The solution is scalable. It extends well. I'd rate it ten out of ten.
We have about five network and system administrators on the solution. If we increase resources, we may increase usage. It's very easy to increase users as necessary.
How are customer service and support?
We have never used Microsoft technical support.
How was the initial setup?
The initial setup is very straightforward.
The deployment only takes ten minutes.
We simply need the remote server parameters in order to make the connection and finalize the setup.
We only need one technical person to deploy and maintain the product. A system admin could easily manage it.
What about the implementation team?
As long as I have the remote server parameters, I can handle the setup myself.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
We do have to pay a licensing fee. The pricing is not too expensive. It's very reasonable.
What other advice do I have?
I'd rate the solution eight out of ten. I'd recommend the solution. Microsoft of very reliable, and its remote desktop is great. However, there needs to be more security.
