Managed detection has reduced investigation time and provides clear, actionable endpoint insights
Pros and Cons
  • "I think Huntress Managed EDR is an excellent solution for SMBs because it provides strong endpoint protection without the complexity found in many enterprise security products while being easy to deploy and manage."

What is our primary use case?

My main use case for Huntress Managed EDR is for endpoint detection and response.

One specific example of how I use Huntress Managed EDR for endpoint detection and response is when one of our users who traveled abroad tried to log in from another country with the same company laptop. At that time, Huntress logged that activity and notified us, allowing me to reach out to her and confirm her location, which I was impressed to see captured as suspicious activity.

Huntress Managed EDR is very helpful for my organization, as it will catch many things. I personally experienced this when I accidentally stored a password file on my local drive, which Huntress caught by creating an incident and providing me with remediation along with the file path.

How has it helped my organization?

Huntress Managed EDR has positively impacted my organization by providing better visibility into endpoint activity and helping us identify potential threats quickly and easily.

One of the biggest improvements I have seen with Huntress Managed EDR is the time saved on threat investigation and endpoint monitoring, as the platform provides actionable alerts and the managed SOC team helps validate suspicious activity, reducing the time I spend as a network admin.

The fact that Huntress Managed EDR is fully managed by Huntress 24/7 has significantly reduced my workload when it comes to triaging and managing alerts, as the Huntress team reviews and validates suspicious activities before escalating them, allowing us to focus on clear information and recommended actions.

While we still review security events as part of our process, Huntress Managed EDR's automation capabilities for low-severity threats have reduced the manual work needed. This allows my team to focus on high-risk incidents and strategic IT initiatives, resulting in a more efficient security workflow.

    What is most valuable?

The best features Huntress Managed EDR offers include a good dashboard that provides a lot of data and information on one homepage such as total events analyzed, signals populated, incidents reported, and any active incidents of critical or high severity.

Having all that data and information on the dashboard makes my day-to-day work much easier and faster, as I can quickly review all the necessary information for all the machines in one place.

The platform is easy to use, and the agent deployment process is very fast and straightforward.

I personally think Huntress Managed EDR handles AI governance well by pairing AI capabilities with human review from its security team, improving accuracy, reducing alert fatigue, and providing confidence that potential threats are properly investigated before action is taken.

The balance between AI-driven detection and human expertise provides greater confidence in security outcomes.

I found Huntress Managed EDR to be accurate and reliable overall, with generally actionable alerts and the added review from the Huntress security team helping us validate findings and reduce false positives. One example is when Huntress alerted me about a password file I accidentally stored on my local drive.

Huntress Managed EDR has been very easy to use because the setup is straightforward, the dashboard is easy to navigate, and the alerts are clear and actionable. Additionally, the managed security teams help validate and investigate threats, reducing my team's workload while providing strong endpoint protection.

    What needs improvement?

If I could suggest an improvement for Huntress Managed EDR, I would like to see more advanced reporting and dashboard customization along with additional integrations for ticketing tools such as Ninja and ConnectWise Manage.

At this moment, I do not think there is anything else I would add because I have been very satisfied with the platform and the protection it provides so far.

Managed detection has protected clients rapidly and has transformed our incident response
    Pros and Cons
    • "What I like the most about Huntress Managed EDR is their lockdowns on malware; just last night I remediated a system that could have gone really sideways, their SOC called me and texted me and within 45 seconds we had a lockdown and remediation in progress, so all around they are just phenomenal."
    • "What I dislike about Huntress Managed EDR is that I would probably change my opinion since about the only thing I could really see is bringing down the price somewhat."

What is our primary use case?

Our use cases involve using Huntress Managed EDR behind Microsoft Defender and primarily as an EDR.

    What is most valuable?

What I like the most about Huntress Managed EDR is their lockdowns on malware; just last night I remediated a system that could have gone really sideways. Their SOC called me and texted me and within 45 seconds we had a lockdown and remediation in progress. So all around they are just phenomenal.

Using Huntress Managed EDR has not helped me reduce the need for expensive security analysts or tools in any way; we still deploy our penetration testers and such. But it is always fascinating to me that within moments of a pen test going on, we get notifications from Huntress Managed EDR; they are just really on top of it.

From the time I deployed Huntress Managed EDR for a customer, I see the benefits upon initial deployment when we find threats that had been hidden in their systems—latent threats that could cause them problems right away. So that is immediately upon installation, but from there, I would say just whenever we have an occasion where we can report back to the client that we saved their situation; those are what I find the most rewarding.

I still use the feature of Huntress Managed EDR that can automatically remediate low severity threats, and I find it quite effective; on any given day, we will probably have two or three auto remediates and it is just a very nice feature.

The availability of Huntress Managed EDR for all major operating systems has affected my cyber security strategy favorably; we do have a growing number of Mac users and it is nice to have a protection envelope for them as well.

    What needs improvement?

What I dislike about Huntress Managed EDR is that I would probably change my opinion since about the only thing I could really see is bringing down the price somewhat.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Huntress Managed EDR for overall four years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Regarding stability, Huntress Managed EDR seems to be a very stable platform; I experience no lagging or crashing.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Huntress Managed EDR is totally scalable; we have moved it up considerably to our non-automate clients, and we have a bunch of those, and we scaled up to include those, so it is easily scalable.

How are customer service and support?

The SOC support of Huntress Managed EDR impacts my security operations favorably; it has made us somewhat of a leader in keeping people safe.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I have used an alternative before; prior to this, we used Webroot solutions—secure anywhere, cloud-based. It was actually paired up with DNS filtering and it was a workable solution, but there were just too many breaches.

    How was the initial setup?

The initial deployment of Huntress Managed EDR was pretty easy; I probably had about 10% of the machines that just would not take the scripting, but other than that, it went pretty good.

    What about the implementation team?

I required no other people for the deployment of Huntress Managed EDR; I did it myself.

What other advice do I have?

My thoughts on the pricing of Huntress Managed EDR are that it is kind of on the upper end of comparable products, but as long as it does its job, I cannot fault it too bad.

The only real technical support I used for Huntress Managed EDR was in the initial deployment when I needed to get some API changes put in place to modify it for my different clients, but other than that, I do not think I have contacted tech support.

I would rate this review a 9 out of 10.

Managed detection has reduced false positives and has streamlined incident response workload
    Pros and Cons
    • "Using Huntress Managed EDR has helped reduce the need for expensive security tools or hiring additional security analysts since I can use that as the first port of call versus trying to get an external SOC."

What is our primary use case?

I use Huntress Managed EDR for threat hunting and incident response as well as endpoint detection and response.

      What is most valuable?

The best features of Huntress Managed EDR include the fact that we seem to get quite low numbers of false positives.

I think there's an element of human validation which helps with that, which I don't think we've got from other solutions.

In terms of how much it has reduced the false positive rate, I would say 25% as a rough number.

One of the other features I appreciate about Huntress Managed EDR is that it's fairly simple to deploy.

It's quite a lightweight agent, so we haven't really noticed any reports from clients noticing that their systems are running slow or anything with it installed.

Overall, I would say Huntress Managed EDR is easy to use.

Regarding the learning curve, the documentation is all good for Huntress Managed EDR, and I think it's fairly intuitive and easy to learn.

The improvements and benefits I have seen during this time include the lower false positives in terms of alerts that we're getting.

I think the reporting is good as well; it's quite clear and transparent reporting.

      What needs improvement?

There isn't anything that comes to mind regarding areas that have room for improvement.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Huntress Managed EDR for probably around two years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Regarding stability, I would rate Huntress Managed EDR as a nine; I have not noticed any issues of downtime.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

My thoughts on the scalability of Huntress Managed EDR are that I would give it an eight.

How are customer service and support?

From 1 to 10, I would rate the technical support as an eight.

I think it has been efficient when we've needed to reach out.

How would you rate customer service and support?

      Positive

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I would compare Huntress Managed EDR to other products or other vendors by saying it's one of the best we've used.

I can't remember off the top of my head the other solutions that we've got or we've trialed, but I'm definitely happy with it.

      How was the initial setup?

This has affected my workload and security by definitely reducing work if it's picking up the initial reports at that level.

The fact that Huntress Managed EDR is fully managed by Huntress probably affects my workload when it comes to any triaging or managing alerts since it's certainly more beneficial in terms of if we get any alerts out of hours, because that initial triage is handled by Huntress.

That's probably when we notice it the most.

      What about the implementation team?

I pair Huntress Managed EDR with SentinelOne for AV, so I use them together with SentinelOne.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

My thoughts on the pricing of Huntress Managed EDR are that I think it's efficient.

I think it's around three or four dollars per endpoint, so I'm happy with that.

What other advice do I have?

Using Huntress Managed EDR has helped reduce the need for expensive security tools or hiring additional security analysts since I can use that as the first port of call versus trying to get an external SOC.

I noticed the value of Huntress Managed EDR after a couple of weeks.

I do use the solution's ability to automatically remediate low severity threats.

In my opinion, Huntress Managed EDR saves me probably a couple of hours a week.

Approximately 100 users use Huntress Managed EDR.

I would evaluate Huntress Managed EDR as a solution targeted specifically for SMBs by saying it's definitely scalable for small, medium, and enterprise as well.

My advice to others looking to implement Huntress Managed EDR is that I would definitely recommend it if you're looking for incident response and threat hunting.

To make Huntress Managed EDR a 10 essentially, I would say if I didn't have to pay for it.

Maybe some integration in terms of AI would also help.

I would rate this solution an 8 overall.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

      Public Cloud

If public cloud, private cloud, or hybrid cloud, which cloud provider do you use?

Extra security layer has reduced incidents and allows swift response to risky endpoint activity
      Pros and Cons
      • "Customer support has been good so far; for example, when we asked about the agent for Linux OS, they were really helpful."
      • "If Huntress Managed EDR's SIEM could be more user-friendly, that would improve the solution because currently, there are queries you need to know, and it requires you to follow a specific format; adding trigger alerts would also be a helpful addition."

What is our primary use case?

My main use case for Huntress Managed EDR is that we needed an extra layer of security because at that time, we were using only ESET antivirus, and we required more than that, so my manager adopted Huntress Managed EDR to provide that extra layer of security for the company during that time.

For example, when using Huntress Managed EDR, it can quickly detect when there is malicious activity occurring on endpoints, such as people installing prohibited software or pirated software, as well as people storing passwords freely on their desktop, which can reduce malicious activity or poor security practices.

This is preventative; we want an extra layer for our security at the company because our setup is only ESET antivirus, and we need more than that, especially since Huntress Managed EDR is managed by a SOC team that monitors our endpoints during our off-days or nighttime.

How has it helped my organization?

Huntress Managed EDR positively impacts our organization by detecting malicious activity in real-time; for instance, if a user downloads pirated software, it can be detected by Microsoft Defender, logging the event to Huntress Managed EDR's dashboard, and allowing our IT or security team to take swift action based on the alerts we receive.

After using Huntress Managed EDR, I noticed a reduction in incidents because when someone downloaded pirated software that turned out to be malicious, the SOC team from Huntress was the first level that detected the malicious activity, removing it and then escalating the remaining issues to us as the IT team.

Because Huntress Managed EDR is fully managed by Huntress 24/7, it positively affects my workload when it comes to triaging and managing alerts by easing our job since we do not have critical alerts or events that impact our organization.

      What is most valuable?

Huntress Managed EDR's best features include the ability to detect malicious activities, anomalies, and SIEM as well, deploying agents to endpoints, logging prohibited actions performed by users, and allowing the IT or cybersecurity team to check logs and escalate issues.

The detection of anomalous activities and the logging features have specifically helped my team because the dashboard is straightforward and easy to understand, allowing us to easily monitor activities, check for malicious activity, and identify the PC name or username for further action.

Regarding the features, we can simply put tags for our users or agents deployed across different locations in the organization, which helps us identify different regions, and I particularly appreciate that Huntress Managed EDR is easy to use, straightforward, and the configuration process is not difficult at all.

So far, the accuracy and reliability of Huntress Managed EDR's output are good because we get fewer false alarms, and mostly, the alerts are positive.

Huntress Managed EDR is straightforward to use; everything is user-friendly, so I do not think people will need to spend more time learning it, and anyone with a foundation in cybersecurity should be fine.

Differentiating between legitimate and malicious process behavior using Huntress Managed EDR is straightforward; for example, if malware is detected, we can check the event details, including when it started and the file name, which helps us comprehend what needs to be done as the IT team.

      What needs improvement?

If Huntress Managed EDR's SIEM could be more user-friendly, that would improve the solution because currently, there are queries you need to know, and it requires you to follow a specific format; adding trigger alerts would also be a helpful addition.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Huntress Managed EDR for around two years, starting from my internship at WorldFish, where I mostly do the configuration and manage rolling out agents to endpoints, including remote offices, global offices, especially in African countries, the APAC region, and HQ as well.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Huntress Managed EDR is stable; so far, everything is working well.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Huntress Managed EDR's scalability is straightforward; the agent is easy to install.

How are customer service and support?

Customer support has been good so far; for example, when we asked about the agent for Linux OS, they were really helpful. I would rate customer support a 10 because they are friendly and helpful.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I have used ESET antivirus before using Huntress Managed EDR, and I found that ESET was just redundant; from my experience, Microsoft Defender can do the same thing, making the switch to Huntress Managed EDR a clear choice.

Before Huntress Managed EDR, we did not have any similar tools, making this our first experience with such a solution.

      How was the initial setup?

I deploy Huntress Managed EDR in a combination of on-premises and hybrid cloud, installing the agent physically at HQ while using the cloud to give access for remote offices to download and install the agents.

For hybrid cloud deployment, we used OneDrive by Microsoft.

      What was our ROI?

Huntress Managed EDR has shown a return on investment since we do not need a big security team; I was the only person monitoring the endpoint security at that time, which reduced our cost.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Huntress Managed EDR is more cost-effective than the other solutions I used, specifically ESET, and I think it is a win for that, especially regarding value for SMB.

I do not have much experience with the pricing, setup cost, or licensing of Huntress Managed EDR because it was managed by my manager, but I know it is reasonable for its capabilities in securing the organization.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

I evaluated CrowdStrike before choosing Huntress Managed EDR, but it was more expensive compared to Huntress Managed EDR, leading us to choose Huntress Managed EDR instead.

What other advice do I have?

I rate Huntress Managed EDR a solid 8 out of 10. I choose 8 out of 10 because I think it is well-rounded; everything is covered, and it is very good for medium enterprises.

Regarding Huntress Managed EDR's AI capabilities, I do not think it will touch governance much because it straightforwardly monitors malicious or malware activities at endpoints and removes them, while also isolating endpoints if a user may impact the network.

I evaluate Huntress Managed EDR as a solution specifically for the SMB market with a rating of 10 because small businesses do not have many endpoints, and since it works well with Microsoft Defender, they do not need extra antivirus—just EDR agents for cybersecurity.

For SMB or organizations looking for an extra layer of security without a current solution, I advise considering Huntress Managed EDR because it covers everything; having EDR along with Microsoft Defender is a good combination for endpoint security. My overall rating for Huntress Managed EDR is 8 out of 10.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

      Hybrid Cloud

If public cloud, private cloud, or hybrid cloud, which cloud provider do you use?

Never misses anything and has an attractive price point and a simple interface
      Pros and Cons
      • "Huntress works more simply. I appreciate how Windows Defender can be managed on computers with it. Previously, I could not modify it unless I had special Microsoft licensing, so it was beneficial to control Windows Defender through a central console to add policies and things like that."
      • "The stability is perfect."
      • "Huntress helped reduce the need for expensive security tools or to hire expensive security analysts."
      • "One thing they could improve is evolving from an EDR to an MDR, like Blackpoint. This transition would enable automatic remediation of anything that looks dangerous, including within Microsoft 365."

What is our primary use case?

We are a managed service provider with a wide range of clients. We support their businesses and computers, and as a standard, we install the software on any of the computers we manage.

How has it helped my organization?

Huntress is very easy to use. That is one of the reasons why we switched to Huntress two to three years ago. The console is simpler and quicker than the competitor I was using. There are not many actions to take. It just runs, and if there is something to look at, they send us an email to escalate. It is one of those things where when you install it, you do not have to log in and check unless they alert you.

Once they did an awesome thing where they scanned the computers for any files that said passwords or logins. Sometimes people keep all their logins in one Excel file and call it passwords. It basically scanned the computers and gave us a warning about the computers that had a file called passwords.xls and informed us to let them know to not do that. I reached out and I ended up converting a few of those clients to use password managers and things like that. It was a one-time scan they did, but it was awesome of them to do that.

We were able to see its financial benefit immediately. After a month or two, it started caching things and alerting us. It was pretty quick. Within the first quarter of using it, we were already happy with it. I knew I was going to keep it for a long time.

SMBs do not always have a big budget for IT. Huntress is the best you can get without ramping up your budget. There is another one that we use for the companies that have more budget. It is called BlackPoint, but it is not an apple-to-apple comparison. I cannot compare these two because BlackPoint does a little bit more than what Huntress offers at this time.

The solution is fully managed by Huntress 24/7. That has been great. It has affected us in a positive way where we get an alert, and we know if something was already done by Huntress or if we need to take action. If we need to take action, they list specific instructions on what needs to be done, which is nice. We do not have to figure out how or what. That has definitely helped. We are also able to manage Windows Defender. When we want to put exceptions in and things like that, we do not have to go to each computer. We just put it in the policy, and it alters the settings of Windows Defender.

For remediation, Huntress can automatically remediate low-severity threats. There is one option where they automatically do it, and then depending on the issue, there is also a button that you can click to remediate the issue right from the control panel. That saves so much time investigating. If you need to isolate the computer, you can isolate the computer, so it does not spread out to the rest. It is definitely positive.

Huntress helped reduce the need for expensive security tools or to hire expensive security analysts. They basically do it all. The only thing higher is an MDR, but I assume they will eventually get into the MDR space. I know they have recently added something that looks at your Microsoft 365 tenant, similarly to how they look at your computers. I can see the product growing and growing. They keep adding things that their competitors are doing.

It has taken our security up a notch from where we were. It has not missed anything. It was not like something happened where I was like, "Why didn't Huntress see this?" That has not happened in the past two to three years. It has made our security stronger. Because we protect our clients, we need to make sure we are doing that. I am confident in having Huntress out there on the machines.

The Huntress' SOC team is very responsive. Other solutions would never reach out to you or do anything like that. If something is detected, they just send automatic emails to check it out. Anytime I have had a meeting with Huntress about a new product or a new service, there are higher-ups on the call with me. It feels very like a small company even though they are not. You get a small company experience with them where you can get someone on the phone. If you need to talk to someone higher up, they will be on the call. I appreciate that. They are always ready to hop on a call or tell me more. If I need to know more, they will happily talk to me. They always check in on me. My reps often ping me to make sure I do not need anything.

We have combined Huntress with other solutions. The only reason we combine is that the customer has more budget. Huntress is what we give everyone. If they have more budget, we will pair that with BlackPoint, which is an MDR that actively remediates anything that does not look good. They are connected to a  24/ 7 security center with people stopping these attacks live as they happen, and you are watching them as they happen. There is an agent for the computer as well. There are some things that overlap with Huntress on what it does, but the ultimate one is 24/7. They will remediate something at three in the morning and leave you a voicemail explaining what happened, but that solution costs three times what Huntress costs. That is why the customer has the budget, we put both of them.

      What is most valuable?

The price point is attractive. It compares favorably to SentinelOne, which I was using at the time.

Huntress works more simply. I appreciate how Windows Defender can be managed on computers with it. Previously, I could not modify it unless I had special Microsoft licensing, so it was beneficial to control Windows Defender through a central console to add policies and things like that.

      What needs improvement?

One thing they could improve is evolving from an EDR to an MDR, like Blackpoint. This transition would enable automatic remediation of anything that looks dangerous, including within Microsoft 365. For instance, when one of my clients' Microsoft 365 account was breached, Blackpoint identified suspicious activity and disabled the account. It was in Dallas, and we are in California. Blackpoint knew something was wrong there, and they went in and disabled the account. Developing more automated remediation features would elevate them to an MDR level, but I understand that it might affect pricing. They are trying to keep it at a good price point because once they go to MDR, it is probably going to double the price.

For now, I find the current features satisfactory, as they continue to add improvements. They have added security awareness training and then log collectors. They are adding pillars as they move along, and I assume they are going to have an option for MDR.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using this solution for two to three years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The stability is perfect. I would rate it a ten out of ten for that. It barely takes up resources on the computer, and I have had no issues with lagging or crashing. I have never needed to reinstall it once installed. It operates smoothly without needing further intervention. I once experienced installation trouble due to other issues on the computer, but we resolved it. Once it is on the computer, it is smooth sailing.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

It offers substantial scalability. The admin panel appears to have no limitations. I can add as many as I need, and it organizes them as per organization. I can easily scale from one machine to thousands without any fuss. There is no need to upgrade anything on their end; I just need more seeds, and that is it.

How are customer service and support?

Regarding responsiveness, they are pretty quick. Though not recent, they responded the same day, which is great. I had no problems with their knowledgeability. They offered the option to call, but I contacted them via email and received a quick, helpful response. Overall, I am satisfied with their support.

How would you rate customer service and support?

      Positive

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

Before Huntress, we were on a quest for the ideal solution. Initially, we used Webroot but were dissatisfied and switched to SentinelOne. We were primarily using SentinelOne until Huntress came along. Huntress impressed us with its simple admin panel, unlike SentinelOne's clunky interface. Huntress definitely has a very simple admin panel. It is very easy to find things or switch between organizations, and it is fast.

SentinelOne kept upgrading their admin panel and we had to log in again and again. It would take a minute or two just to get in because of all the updates they kept doing. With Huntress, you are quickly in and already clicking around. It is fast. It was a pretty easy switch when the time came.

For its software class as an EDR, I cannot think of one that does it better than them. Even SentinelOne does not quite do what they do. Huntress is doing what no one is doing for that price. Most of the time, EDRs do not do remediation at all. Huntress is doing at least the low-level ones automatically at times, but other EDRs will not do it. They just tell you that there was suspicious activity. Check it out. That separates Huntress from the rest at this point in time.

Cost-wise, it is similar to others. It may be fifty cents more than other competing prices. It is very close, but the value is there. I would not switch to a cheaper thing because whatever I am paying for Huntress is worth it.

      How was the initial setup?

The initial setup was incredibly easy. Using our RMM remote management, we ran a provided script on all computers. Within a day, the software was fully operational. It detects customer information from the RMM and organizes it efficiently. We opted to install it across all systems, leading to a well-organized admin panel.

Within a day, we had it across a bunch of computers. It was rather simple. We tested on ours in the beginning. It took one day to fully have it out. It was very simple with a script.

It does not require any maintenance from our side. It updates itself. If there is an agent version, I do not have to go in there and hit the button unlike others. With SentinelOne, I would get an email when there was a new version, and I had to go and update them by hand. If I wanted to do it automatically, I have to set up all these policies, but for Huntress, there is no need. It updates itself. As long as the agent is online, it will update the agents, so there is literally no maintenance. I do not have to go in there and update anything. It just runs.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

It is very fair. I started at $2.50 and now I am at $3.50. When I signed up, I thought it was too cheap. It now reflects the price. It is very fair. I do not think you can find anything better.

It is competitive pricing-wise. It is not too expensive or too cheap. It is just right. I do not know if they are going to raise it anytime soon because they keep adding things, but for now, the price point and what it does is what makes it so popular.

I am in a group with other managed service providers like me, and we meet once a week. All of them use Huntress as well. It is very popular for companies like ours because it allows us to protect the clients more without breaking the bank. If you do not have a big budget, the pricing is still very practical.

What other advice do I have?

I would rate it a nine out of ten. It is as close as it can get for what it does, including support and scalability. I am happy with it. I hope they remain independent and do not get bought out and changed. That happens a lot. They are proud of what they do, and there still are the original people who started it. I hope they always keep that.

Trusted monitoring has strengthened threat hunting and improved confidence in our defenses
      Pros and Cons
      • "Huntress Managed EDR has improved our security posture and has provided peace of mind for myself as well as the firm partners that our security stance can not only meet the minimum requirements but actually positions us well to protect our environment from modern and emerging threats."
      • "Improvements for Huntress Managed EDR really come down to the user interface online, which is less polished than I would like."

What is our primary use case?

My main use case for Huntress Managed EDR is providing threat hunting and remediation on top of Microsoft Defender.

      What is most valuable?

Huntress Managed EDR offers simple deployment, quick ingestion, and a support team that is second to none.

As soon as the agents are installed, they start ingesting signals and data points, and there is no tuning or effort that my team or I need to take after installing an agent in order for it to start checking in and be monitored by Huntress Managed EDR.

Huntress Managed EDR has improved our security posture and has provided peace of mind for myself as well as the firm partners that our security stance can not only meet the minimum requirements but actually positions us well to protect our environment from modern and emerging threats.

I appreciate that Huntress Managed EDR detects signals and alerts on anything potentially suspicious.

      What needs improvement?

Improvements for Huntress Managed EDR really come down to the user interface online, which is less polished than I would like. However, I am more focused on the functionality of the product, and that is where it already shines, and I find they deliver incredible value.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Huntress Managed EDR for six months.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

      Huntress Managed EDR is stable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

I find Huntress Managed EDR to be very scalable, as it is simple to deploy agents and there is nothing we need to do aside from deploying the agent.

How are customer service and support?

Huntress Managed EDR customer support is top notch and always responsive.

I would rate the customer support for Huntress Managed EDR a nine on a scale of one to ten.

How would you rate customer service and support?

      Positive

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I previously used SentinelOne provided by a third-party managed service provider that we are no longer using. This necessitated a change, which provided the leverage I needed to get the partners to reevaluate the products we were using.

      How was the initial setup?

I have had no issues with pricing, setup costs, or licensing. Huntress Managed EDR pricing was on par, setup was simple, and licensing is straightforward.

      What was our ROI?

I currently have no specific metrics to provide regarding return on investment.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

Before choosing Huntress Managed EDR, I evaluated other options including SentinelOne and Blackpoint Cyber, along with all the common EDR providers of the day.

What other advice do I have?

Huntress Managed EDR is a key part of our security strategy.

Huntress Managed EDR improvements really come down to the user interface online, which is less polished than I would like. However, I am more focused on the functionality of the product, and that is where it already shines, and I find they deliver incredible value.

I rate Huntress Managed EDR a nine because there is always room for improvement that prevents it from being a perfect ten for me.

Huntress Managed EDR is deployed in our organization with a hybrid setup, using both on-premises and public cloud. For our public cloud environment, we use Microsoft Azure.

Huntress Managed EDR is very easy to use. If Huntress Managed EDR identifies something suspicious, an alert is raised, and my team gets notified. We log into the Huntress Managed EDR console and review what has been flagged.

I evaluate Huntress Managed EDR as an ideal vendor for the SMB market. It is very easy to deploy, requires minimal overhead on compute resources, is easy to work with, and acquiring licensing is straightforward. All in all, Huntress Managed EDR is a great partner for SMB.

Huntress Managed EDR has not reduced our workload since we were not reviewing and triaging 24/7 to begin with, but it has expanded our ability within the organization even during non-business hours.

I have used and evaluated other similar solutions, notably Blackpoint Cyber. I would argue they were a bit more detailed in the service provided, but when it comes to overall usability and a simple approach to using the product, Huntress Managed EDR is head and shoulders above.

In terms of cost-effectiveness, I find Huntress Managed EDR to be in the sweet spot compared to offerings by other providers. Huntress Managed EDR is not the cheap provider and is not the expensive provider.

I do not combine the use of Huntress Managed EDR with other solutions. Huntress Managed EDR is our sole EDR and MDR provider.

My advice for others looking into using Huntress Managed EDR is to not overthink it. It is a deceptively simple, yet effective tool at mitigating or reducing cybersecurity threats in your environment.

There is no business relationship with Huntress Managed EDR beyond being a customer.

I would rate Huntress Managed EDR a nine overall.

Lightweight endpoint protection has reduced support tickets and improves security monitoring
      Pros and Cons
      • "After deploying Huntress Managed EDR, it took no time to start improving my organization's security."
      • "It would be nice if Huntress Managed EDR started adding additional features that some of the other competitors have, but obviously, to keep it lightweight, they cannot pack too much into it."

What is our primary use case?

My main use case for Huntress Managed EDR is for malware and EDR protection for endpoints. I use Huntress Managed EDR for endpoint protection in my environment on Windows and Mac devices, as it integrates with Defender and protects devices from threats.

      What is most valuable?

The best features Huntress Managed EDR offers is that it is extremely easy to deploy and it is lightweight as it integrates with Defender on Windows devices, and then it operates independently on Mac. Because it is easy to deploy, it does not affect people too much.

Huntress Managed EDR has positively impacted my organization, as we switched from a past solution when we went to them in the first place and it was much better. Since switching to Huntress Managed EDR, it is a much more lightweight install, and the previous tool we had was constantly causing weird issues on computers because it was absorbing all the resources and causing slowdowns.

I have noticed measurable improvements such as fewer support tickets for the installation issues that the non-Huntress product that we used to use would cause.

      What needs improvement?

It would be nice if Huntress Managed EDR started adding additional features that some of the other competitors have, but obviously, to keep it lightweight, they cannot pack too much into it. Quality of life improvements could be made.

I think some device control, such as USB ports in general or maybe being able to do privileged access management via Huntress Managed EDR would be nice. We use another tool for that, so it would be great if they had their own module for it that would work via the agent that they are already installing.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Huntress Managed EDR for about five years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

      Huntress Managed EDR is stable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Huntress Managed EDR scales very well, and even the pricing gets a little cheaper as you reach different tiers.

How are customer service and support?

Support for Huntress Managed EDR is good, but we do not have to use them very often, which is probably also a good thing.

How would you rate customer service and support?

      Neutral

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I previously used Bitdefender and switched to Huntress Managed EDR because of the problems we were having that affected devices.

      How was the initial setup?

There is no setup cost with Huntress Managed EDR, and the licensing is about a dollar per device.

      What was our ROI?

I have not seen a return on investment specifically. It is replacing a tool, and the other tool it was replacing was more expensive at about 50 cents per device, which shows how much it is saving us.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

I have used and evaluated other similar solutions. We have tested Bitdefender, SentinelOne, and Sophos. Huntress Managed EDR, compared to Bitdefender, SentinelOne, and Sophos, stands out as much more lightweight than the others.

What other advice do I have?

It impacts my day-to-day operations or the user experience for my team because it is all done through scripting, and there is no manual labor involved in deploying it. It is set through the EDR portal when a threat is actually detected. It integrates with our ticketing system, so Huntress Managed EDR sends it straight there.

Huntress Managed EDR is really good for the SMB, small and medium business market. As a managed service provider, I know we get tiered discounts for purchasing as a non-MSP, but small and medium businesses would get those same benefits of price, and the quality is there. Huntress Managed EDR is fully managed 24/7, which affects my workload positively when it comes to triaging and managing alerts because it is great that they are monitoring since we are light staffed on weekends, holidays, and after hours. It is great that they are that front line for any of those major threats that come through.

We do not handle low severity threats with Huntress Managed EDR, but we do handle the medium and critical threats. There are definitely more expensive EDR tools out there, but we have additional tools in place, including Huntress Managed EDR offering additional tools. We definitely have not reduced the need for security, and we do not have a security analyst, but we have people on staff with some training in that aspect.

Huntress Managed EDR has affected my organization's overall security positively. Being relatively cost-effective, it goes out there on all of them and constantly looks for threats. After deploying Huntress Managed EDR, it took no time to start improving my organization's security. The improvement was immediate.

I would say to definitely go for Huntress Managed EDR. It is a great product. My company does not have a business relationship with this vendor other than being a customer. I found this interview fine overall, but the AI voice chatbot is not great. I would rate this review an 8.

Managed security has provided 24-7 threat response and simplified protection for remote staff
      Pros and Cons
      • "In comparison to other solutions I've used or evaluated, Huntress Managed EDR offers a friendly user experience, whereas other EDRs require learning from scratch and can either be complicated or not optimal for SMBs."
      • "Huntress Managed EDR can be improved by adding more features and a bit more security for users while remaining user-friendly so that everyone won't be frustrated by getting blocked."

What is our primary use case?

My main use case for Huntress Managed EDR involves EDR, ITDR, and SATs. I use Huntress Managed EDR to monitor day-to-day end-user support and to monitor mostly my inventories and assets.

How has it helped my organization?

Huntress Managed EDR has positively impacted my organization as clients appreciate it, and I provide them with reports every month.

Regarding feedback from clients about those reports, when they experienced virus infections, Huntress Managed EDR already managed to check the system and then locked the virus in place.

The fact that Huntress Managed EDR is fully managed by Huntress 24/7 has positively affected my workload. I don't work 24/7, and if there's an incident, it's better that someone is managing it. Huntress support does this 24/7 and sends me notifications when something happens.

      What is most valuable?

Huntress Managed EDR's best features in my experience include monitoring day-to-day users, their assets, and everything else, while ITDR monitors accounts logged into other countries, and SATs provide day-to-day learning materials. I rely on ITDR the most because I use it primarily for my users.

Regarding Huntress Managed EDR's AI capabilities, I think its governance and security are perfect. In terms of accuracy, I find it perfectly accurate, and when it comes to output, I cannot complain about anything. I do make use of Huntress Managed EDR's ability to automatically remediate low-severity threats, and it helps me because the threats get automatically remediated with just one click of a button.

      What needs improvement?

Huntress Managed EDR can be improved by adding more features and a bit more security for users while remaining user-friendly so that everyone won't be frustrated by getting blocked.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Huntress Managed EDR for approximately two years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

      Huntress Managed EDR is stable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Huntress Managed EDR's scalability is perfect, and I cannot complain.

How are customer service and support?

Huntress Managed EDR's customer support is the best.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We didn't use another solution. We have another EDR currently on-premises for clients using Sophos, and they don't want to switch it out because it's already a legacy item for them.

      What was our ROI?

Huntress Managed EDR helps a lot of employees because if they are working remotely, I at least have 24/7 EDR on their assets.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

I have no experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing because I am not in the sales division. Those areas are only knowledgeable for the sales team.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

I didn't choose Huntress Managed EDR because it was already implemented, so I just manage it.

What other advice do I have?

Huntress Managed EDR is usually deployed in my organization on public clouds. I use Syncro as my cloud provider. Using Huntress Managed EDR was very difficult at first because I was juggling with it and trying to learn it, but over time, it became easy to use because it's user-friendly. I evaluate Huntress Managed EDR as a solution for the SMB market as great overall because I can deploy it anywhere and anytime, and if a client wants to terminate it, I can remove it easily.

In comparison to other solutions I've used or evaluated, Huntress Managed EDR offers a friendly user experience, whereas other EDRs require learning from scratch and can either be complicated or not optimal for SMBs. My advice for others looking into using Huntress Managed EDR is that it's easy to use, easy to scale, and easy to implement. I rate Huntress Managed EDR as a 10 out of 10 because everything stands out to me. Huntress Managed EDR is there to help with my clients and is the best solution.

Rapid endpoint response has protected clients and improves proactive incident handling
      Pros and Cons
      • "Overall, it is really solid, with just a few UI placements, button descriptions, and caution messages that could be added before certain actions are performed."
      • "Regarding improvements for Huntress Managed EDR, there was an example yesterday where the UI had unclear directions and it caused the agent itself to be removed from the endpoint device during a critical moment."

What is our primary use case?

As an MSP, my main use case for Huntress Managed EDR is to roll it out to my managed service clients that are under contract so I can secure their endpoints and review any potential security incidents that arise.

Yesterday, I had a specific example where we had a device compromised by a bad executable link that looked like a voicemail, and the user clicked it. Huntress Managed EDR flagged it when the script ran and installed either another RMM as well as a rogue ScreenConnect incident, and it was able to isolate the endpoint, notify us, and provide automated remediation.

      What is most valuable?

The best features Huntress Managed EDR offers include the rapid response for compromised devices and the integration with ITDR, giving me the ability to secure both device and user accounts simultaneously so that there is no gap in the response time.

Huntress Managed EDR has positively impacted my organization by making the response time much faster. Being able to respond to those reports as they come in is critical to my ticketing system and knowing to reach out to users and follow up immediately.

Huntress Managed EDR enables each team member to be more effective and more valuable to our clients with our reaction time. Many times we are reaching out before they know something is wrong because we have received the report and can respond immediately to those issues, becoming more proactive rather than discovering something a day or two later.

      What needs improvement?

Regarding improvements for Huntress Managed EDR, there was an example yesterday where the UI had unclear directions and it caused the agent itself to be removed from the endpoint device during a critical moment. I worked with the representative who is going to reach out to the UI team to adjust some of those issues perhaps by putting up warnings or similar elements. Overall, it is really solid, with just a few UI placements, button descriptions, and caution messages that could be added before certain actions are performed.

My impression of Huntress Managed EDR's ability to detect persistent footholds on our endpoints is quite good, but there was one issue where it described to remove something and I believed it was referring to the foothold itself, but it was actually talking about the whole agent, which I did not think was very intuitive. Other than that, I would say it does fairly well.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Huntress Managed EDR for about six months.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Huntress Managed EDR is stable as far as I have seen.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The scalability of Huntress Managed EDR is very easy.

How are customer service and support?

The customer support for Huntress Managed EDR is very good.

Huntress Managed EDR's 24/7 SOC support impacts my organization's security operations significantly. Having the ability to reach out to them at all times definitely makes a big difference, especially because we operate during normal business hours, but if a security incident were to arise, having that support on hand is extremely beneficial.

      How was the initial setup?

I am not sure which cloud provider we use. My experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing was handled by our managed service director, so I cannot speak to that specifically.

      What was our ROI?

I cannot share any specifics regarding return on investment, but generally speaking, Huntress Managed EDR enables each team member to be more effective and more valuable to our clients with our reaction time. Many times we are reaching out before they know something is wrong because we have received the report and can respond immediately to those issues, becoming more proactive rather than discovering something a day or two later.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

I am not sure which cloud provider we use. My experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing was handled by our managed service director, so I cannot speak to that specifically.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

I was not a part of the process of evaluating other options before choosing Huntress Managed EDR.

What other advice do I have?

I would rate the customer support nine out of 10.

My advice for others looking into using Huntress Managed EDR is that it may take a little time to get set up upfront, but once everything is in place, it is super helpful, very thorough, and somewhat intuitive. If you know what you are doing, it will take a little time to understand it, and as they are improving some features, hopefully that should become easier to understand. Overall, I would highly recommend it. I would rate this product an 8 overall.

Managed security has reduced my workload and has enabled me to offer stronger client protection
      Pros and Cons
      • "Huntress Managed EDR has positively impacted my organization because I can confidently tell clients that I am offering a best-in-class, state-of-the-art MDR solution incorporated within my offerings."
      • "One area where Huntress Managed EDR can improve is in alerting."

What is our primary use case?

My main use case for Huntress Managed EDR is that I am an MSP, so I have incorporated Huntress Managed EDR into my offering for all my clients as a default MDR solution. This means that any client machines which I manage always have Huntress Managed EDR installed on them for managed detection and response.

A quick, specific example of how I use Huntress Managed EDR for one of my clients involves a client in health services where Huntress Managed EDR found that they were storing passwords in plain text in Excel files on their client machines. Huntress Managed EDR pointed this out to me, and I spoke with the client to let them know about the potential security risk of those files being present, and we resolved the issue.

My main use case for Huntress Managed EDR is that it actually provides a fully autonomous solution, so I do not have to worry about day-to-day operations or manually going through all the logs and antivirus alarms to check whether all my clients are secure or not. I can rely on Huntress Managed EDR to alert me of any abnormalities or anomalies and to help resolve any issues.

      What is most valuable?

The best feature of Huntress Managed EDR is its integrations and scripting capabilities. When I install RMM on my client machine, my RMM has a policy set up to install Huntress Managed EDR on the client machine straight away. This process installs Huntress Managed EDR, turns on all the antivirus features, updates, and manages signatures on the client machines, and it produces all the data into the Huntress Managed EDR platform for me to access.

The integrations and scripting that Huntress Managed EDR offers make my work significantly easier because I do not have to install Huntress Managed EDR specifically on every single client machine individually. My RMM, which is Gorilla, has defined policies, scripts, and integration with Huntress Managed EDR. I only need to map the client in Huntress Managed EDR organization with my Gorilla client, and I can create policies to install Huntress Managed EDR automatically when Gorilla is installed on the client machine. This greatly streamlines my workload, allowing me to manage Huntress Managed EDR installation and reinstallation directly from both Gorilla and the Huntress Managed EDR platform.

Huntress Managed EDR has positively impacted my organization because I can confidently tell clients that I am offering a best-in-class, state-of-the-art MDR solution incorporated within my offerings. This means my clients do not need to purchase any other antivirus or MDR solution or pay me separately for any additional security, creating a strong value proposition and enhancing my competitive position.

      What needs improvement?

One area where Huntress Managed EDR can improve is in alerting. Recently, one of the RMMs I use went crazy and was flagged by Windows Defender antivirus as a Trojan. However, I was not alerted by Huntress Managed EDR about the Trojan detected on my computer, though Windows Defender quarantined it. Huntress Managed EDR indicated this is a normal behavior, but I would prefer to be alerted whenever there is any incident involving Windows Defender on any machines, regardless of the status of the incident.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Huntress Managed EDR for about three years or more.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Huntress Managed EDR is stable so far.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Huntress Managed EDR is easy to scale; it is automatic.

How are customer service and support?

My experience with customer support has been good; I have been assigned an account manager, and I have no complaints.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

Before choosing Huntress Managed EDR, I considered SentinelOne, but I did not evaluate the MDR side of it. I was using SentinelOne's EDR side for about three to four years before switching to Huntress Managed EDR.

      What was our ROI?

While I do not have specific measurable metrics to share, I can say that I have seen a return on investment since I do not need another staff member to manage the alerts or threats from any client machines, which means money and time saved.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

My experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing has been very straightforward, as Huntress Managed EDR pricing is clear, the setup cost is transparent, and licensing is easy to understand.

What other advice do I have?

The cloud provider I use is Huntress.

Using Huntress Managed EDR is straightforward; I only need to install it on the client machine, and then I have access to the Huntress Managed EDR platform to view all the relevant information in one place.

The fact that the solution is fully managed by Huntress Managed EDR 24/7 has significantly reduced my workload regarding triaging and managing alerts, providing me with assurance and peace of mind that all my network and computers are secured.

I do take advantage of Huntress Managed EDR's ability to automatically remediate low-severity threats, which has reduced my workload related to security operations because I do not have to continuously monitor all my client machines for all alerts.

My advice to others looking into using Huntress Managed EDR is that it is a very robust solution that offers great value for money at a very good price. I would rate my overall experience with this solution a 10 out of 10.
