Good deduplication, easy to scale, and has good support
iland Secure Cloud Backup is very scalable. If you ask them for more space, they provide you with the pricing, and they make the adjustments on their end. We just recently went from 10 TB to 15 TB and they also do a great job of deduplication, because we were only using 10 TB, even though our SAN is 20TB, we were using 11 TB of it and we have some physical servers that were we are backing up.

Secure reminders have improved HR document control and support better client deadline management
I really love the reminders feature of N-able Cove Data Protection because I have many dates to keep in mind while working with multiple clients. The access settings are important for me too, and the fact that HR documents are personal means I do not want everyone seeing everything, especially because in HR we talk mostly about confidentiality. It is important that not everyone gets to see everything unless they have access, and I also appreciate being able to tell which copy is the final one. The reminders feature stands out for me the most because I deal with many dates and deadlines. The reminders work well for me in practice because they make it easy for me; I do not have to keep checking my calendar, even though I also use other calendars such as Calendly. The reminders come in handy because I do not have to keep going back to that, helping me ensure that I meet deadlines and do not miss client meetings, making it easier for me to stay organized.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Their technical support is very good; I have contacted them a couple of times and I have never had a bad experience with them, and they are one of the better companies as far as their support."
"iland is excellent as far as the interface."
"They have just implemented a Backup and Restore portal that we think is very good."
"We have not identified any issues with this solution and we are very happy with it."
"The service itself wasn't bad."
"The solution has reduced backup times by an immeasurable amount. Its backups are incremental, so you are only backing up data changes based on the last 24 hours or so. If you are also maintaining the stored images, the restores are also only incremental, happening in minutes. Whereas, with a lot of the other solutions that we have looked at, each time it goes to refresh the restore, then it has to build a completely new image. That takes forever. This solution also improves recovery time."
"The integration of N-able Cove Data Protection into our existing infrastructure is easy."
"The most valuable feature of N-able Cove Data Protection is its ease of use."
"For servers, first and foremost, it's just a rock-solid solution."
"Now, we're able to offer an extremely well-priced solution to our clients that is thousands of dollars less than any of the competitors I've used."
"The most valuable feature is that it's hands-off. I log in every morning and there are pre-canned filters that I've created to make my life easier. I have something called server status color bars, and that gives me all the servers and, in a nutshell, I can see: if any errors are being reported; when the last backup was; if one is not working, should there be one, and it literally jumps off the page."
"The product is simple to use and manage. The customers have access to verify the backups."
"The reliability and the confidence that we have in this product is extremely high."

Cons

"The vendor needs to changes billing to work like every other business and stop charging people if they stop using your service."
"They don't support a more current version of VMware."
"I would like to see a better method of backing up Exchange in the cloud."
"This product did not help our organization."
"The only reason I wouldn't give them a ten out of ten is we aren't able to restore in the cloud and test everything out as we can on Datto, without having to download the full image onto bare metal hardware."
"During the other 10% of the time when I have a problem, it's a mess."
"For the MSP side, they could have more of a "security user" that can go in and only see certain clients. If you give somebody access as a technician, they can see all the clients."
"I have some issues with the agent failing on workstations. I've had to completely uninstall several of them, delete everything, and start over to get them to work."
"N-able Cove Data Protection for Microsoft 365 is an area with shortcomings that need improvement."
"An area for improvement that would really work out well would be if there were a little bit more of an elegant handshake relationship between SolarWinds RMM and the PCs that are being backed up, to advise regarding "up" status... Since RMM is an agent that feeds back that a machine is alive and on, I don't see any reason why they can't either tap into that one feature or build the same exact polling within the backup agent, to update right away and say the system is online or offline."
"The one thing that could use some improvement is their Linux backup; their Linux backup is a files/folders backup and you are not able to do a system restore."
"The reporting feature and functionality need improvement."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The licensing costs are approximately $12,000 annually."
"Billing practices for iLand are monthly. If you are a business and would like a yearly rate, good luck."
"iland is affordable."
"The pricing of SolarWinds seems to be fair compared to the rest of the industry."
"The pricing is affordable. N-able Cove Data Protection has a direct-to-cloud architecture, but it also allows saving backups locally without extra storage costs."
"The cost is around ten dollars per workstation a month and that includes a certain amount of data."
"The pricing, for now, is good. The package that they gave us recently is pretty good. It depends on how many clients you have, and you pay for certain terabytes per license. These terabytes, if not used, are pooled together."
"There is no per node cost, at least not the way I am doing it. I am on bulk. New customers can be set up on a trial, where they can get things all squared away, then they can switch over to being a billed customer."
"When you have a device/appliance on the site quite a lot of the other enterprise class backup people insist that you have their appliance, which is frankly offensively expensive. Because when you pry the top off, it's just a standard 19-inch tin box with a standard Intel I5 in it, some RAM, and a hard drive. Then, you go, "Why have they just charged me 5,500 quid for a box, which I could have probably build for under 500." Whereas, with the SolarWinds product, they don't have that. The backup appliances that we have onsite are just plain cooking PCs. We can build our own machines, which is reflected in the price that we can offer a customer."
"The only option I would like to see is an adjustable scale. Right now we have 250 seats and we're not using all of them. It would be nice to be able to save that little bit of money by being able to buy just what we need."
"The pricing is very competitive and it's well worth the price."
