Good deduplication, easy to scale, and has good support
iland Secure Cloud Backup is very scalable. If you ask them for more space, they provide you with the pricing, and they make the adjustments on their end. We just recently went from 10 TB to 15 TB and they also do a great job of deduplication, because we were only using 10 TB, even though our SAN is 20TB, we were using 11 TB of it and we have some physical servers that were we are backing up.

Reliable automated backups have protected critical databases and simplified recoveries for our operations
Portal identity management should improve. We end up losing people's identity, which was not sufficient enough to read the events. That was the only place I could see for improvement. They keep changing the layouts and descriptions, giving the user confusion if they have not used it for maybe three months. When they come back, the interface is changed. They lost the legacy support, and it is not consistent. Some of the options for the restore give a very hard time for the engineer if they come back after three months to use it because the phrases have changed completely. That is why they were not able to select whether they should select this option or should select another option. Where it comes from, the documentation we gave them does not match anymore. That was a challenge. My consultation part was about how to integrate the technology with each other for the platform or storage or database. I did not deal with any price metrics or scaling the storage. I have no idea about the pricing part. I never joined any meetings or any documents to disclose the pricing. It was quite good in general. Recently, in March 2025, they did a new update which enabled them to update their agents remotely and built in, in-place mode. That is bringing the cybersecurity perspective. That was a big challenge. I said it is a challenge, but I do not know because I left the company, so I am not sure if cybersecurity addressed the solution. Rubrik support is usually very accommodating and very flexible. I am not sure, but the last challenge I saw was that.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The service itself wasn't bad."
"We have not identified any issues with this solution and we are very happy with it."
"Their technical support is very good; I have contacted them a couple of times and I have never had a bad experience with them, and they are one of the better companies as far as their support."
"They have just implemented a Backup and Restore portal that we think is very good."
"iland is excellent as far as the interface."
"My advice would be in the form of a question. If you have the money to purchase Rubrik, the real question is do you want success? Do you want it to work? Because if you want it to work and you want it to be easy — I don't know if Rubrik has won awards for support and service, although I feel like they should have — if you want that support for the few times that you need it, then you go with Rubrik."
"Since switching to Rubrik, our backup times have decreased significantly, going from two and a half days to one and a half hours for certain systems."
"Rubrik is able to hit about 95% to 98% of the things that we want to do, which is not going to be the case for every company, but it will fit most customers' needs."
"The most valuable feature from a simplicity point of view is that it is very simple and easy to deploy and scale."
"Rubrik has the best vendor support that I've dealt with; they're probably the best, they're the most knowledgeable, they're the most respectful, they call a lot better, and they will follow through to the end."
"In terms of usage, Rubrik has allowed us to retrieve data 80 to 90 percent faster than our previous technology."
"I value the options it has for storage tiering (i.e. whether it should be a flash, SSD, or pushed to the cloud) depending on the data provided."
"Rubrik has led to improvement by reducing the amount of failed backups, leading to a reduced workload in IT operations."

Cons

"They don't support a more current version of VMware."
"The vendor needs to changes billing to work like every other business and stop charging people if they stop using your service."
"I would like to see a better method of backing up Exchange in the cloud."
"This product did not help our organization."
"The main pain points we experienced was the stability of the system. We received a lot of instability when we have upgraded from a certain version to a new version. The newer version was completely filled with bugs and we needed to purge the system every week until we update to a newer version that was available one year later. The stability of the code is the main problem, they need to make it better."
"I would improve the cost part of Rubrik; they should improve in that area."
"We have some challenges with the solution's reporting because historical reports have some limitations."
"The recovery of Oracle databases is too complicated. It is not something that helps the DBA, the Database Administrator, but it should be done by the backup person like many other solutions. Everything is ready for the DBA to recover the database. It is a way of doing things, but I don't think you should give the backup people the ability to do it."
"There are some corner cases where the Rubrik Connector (Agent) still doesn't work for our clients, but Rubrik Engineering listens to our feedback and has been delivering the features that we have been asking for over the last year, so we are confident that they will knock those out soon, as well."
"The integrated reporting is not really that nicely built. The reporting functionality could definitely be a little bit more customizable from an administration perspective, with an easier to understand interface."
"Portal identity management should improve."
"I would love to be able to just get from the dashboard to a file that I need, or a system that I need."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The licensing costs are approximately $12,000 annually."
"Billing practices for iLand are monthly. If you are a business and would like a yearly rate, good luck."
"iland is affordable."
"We pay annually for the license for Rubrik. There are no additional costs. Initially, we needed to set it up, negotiate and finalize the offer."
"There are additional costs for add-ons, and they recently upgraded a new cluster, which also carries a price."
"Rubrik is fairly priced."
"We pay yearly and it's based on the number of bricks."
"Its price tends to go up with time. Its pricing definitely has room for improvement. If you negotiate right with them, you might get a good price. Support is a part of the package, and every three years, when we renew our contract, we get new hardware."
"The initial setup cost includes support and maintenance costs, followed by a monthly fee."
"Rubrik is not cheap. Hopefully, you can archive your data on cheap storage to keep the investment minimal."
"The product is not cheap, but for good reason. It simply works and is very fast."
