AI has helped classify threat types more accurately but product ownership can improve
Ease of use is important, and Abnormal Security's responsiveness and ability to deliver solutions when issues arise are crucial. However, there is always room for improvement, as achieving a perfect 10 means there is no more room for enhancement. For Abnormal Security, it's about leveraging AI even more, which they are already working on in their roadmap.

Centralized protection has transformed email security and incident investigations by reducing false positives and improving behavioral threat detection
The challenges include the challenge of finalizing a product that has all the security features or capabilities that are usually required. For example, if there is an EDR platform that's just monitoring IDS signatures, it won't be as beneficial as one with behavioral monitoring and other critical aspects required according to the best practices of the industry. Additionally, if there is a product that can provide a centralized view Trend Vision One does, it really grabs the customer's interest because customers usually don't have to buy separate EDR, XDR, or SIEM solutions or a console for their SOC analyst or email security team. These challenges consist of managing multiple teams and products. Trend Micro Email Security comes in and solves these problems.Trend Micro Email Security is generally a bit more difficult to implement compared to the rest of the solutions such as network security modules or EDR modules, which are much easier. Trend Micro Email Security has some complexities in implementation, but there aren't any significant shortcomings that require Trend Micro to improve.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Their ability to take things out of the mailbox and catch things much faster than users is excellent."
"One of the things that I love about them is that the setup and installation are super easy. All you do is give them access to your Microsoft 365 tenant, and through APIs, they are able to do their work. They are doing all this through APIs, so you do not have to install the software and take a month to get it all set up to even see the value of the solution. You could be up and running in less than an hour."
"Initial auto-remediation allows us to auto-remediate before the email lands in the end user's inbox for a split second."
"It does some really cool stuff that other tools aren't doing. We found it to be really effective, and the AI/ML functionality is really what differentiates them."
"I like Abnormal's threat protection with auto-remediation, but I also love its abuse mailbox feature, which automatically responds to the end user. That feature has a super-valuable security component and helps improve the user experience."
"The features that appeal to me most are the combination of auto-remediation and Detection 360."
"I would recommend Abnormal Security."
"I have never encountered any stability issues with Abnormal."
"Some people can hack our system by sending emails from our domain to our domain. This is blocked completely by Trend Micro."
"The most valuable features include email filtering to block spam and phishing attempts, the use of DMARC for email authentication, and robust malware scanning."
"The most valuable feature of Trend Micro Email Security is the security level it provides. The solution is efficient."
"Trend Micro Email Security [EOL] has positively impacted my organization as the digital user experience is good."
"The technical support is good."
"In general, I recommend Trend Micro Email Security."
"The email and the signature based protection is the most valuable feature."
"Trend Micro Email Security [EOL] is very useful for the organization as an email gateway."

Cons

"There could be more selectable options and more granular selections available."
"One feature I'd love to see is outbound scanning."
"I would like to have the ability to customize the auto-remediation feature."
"The biggest pain point for us is the lack of support for on-premise email systems."
"Abnormal should add more automatic reports. I have an open request to our account team for more notification and report types that can be sent automatically. For example, they have an awesome report that gets sent weekly, and I also want them monthly, so I don't need to do so much adding up when my director wants numbers over time."
"The ideal scenario would be for Abnormal Security to work in tandem with Microsoft to analyze incoming emails."
"There could be room for improvement in enhancing integration with other cybersecurity tools."
"For Abnormal Security as a product, I would say probably somewhere around a seven, as there are some other areas where they can improve to achieve a higher rating."
"The time to answer is a long time. It takes maybe three or four days until we have the answer for a case."
"Trend Micro Email Security should introduce new features, improvements, and updates which are cost-effective and easy to deploy."
"There is room for improvement in threat detection, especially for advanced attacks and business email compromise."
"There are many features in this solution and a high risk of having mistakes with the configuration."
"Trend Micro Email Security can improve on scam detection. It could use AI in this area."
"What I dislike is that I cannot change the spam score. The only changes available are low, very low, and high."
"I think Trend Micro Email Security [EOL] could be improved by providing more DLP features, which I believe would be beneficial."
"Trend Micro Email Security is very effective overall, but I believe it could be improved with more detailed reporting."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Overall, we'd certainly prefer lower pricing, but Abnormal Security doesn't seem unreasonable compared to similar offerings in the market."
"Abnormal Security, on the other hand, provides the same level of functionality for just over $60,000 – that's half the price!"
"The pricing appears fair, and they demonstrate a genuine willingness to work with us on it."
"The license is based on the user count, so the number of users that have an email address in the organization."
"The price of Trend Micro Email Security is more than Sophos' similar solution."
"The solution's pricing is very optimum, given its quality, features, and stability."
"Price-wise, it is a cheap solution. I rate the solution's pricing a one on a scale of one to ten, where ten is expensive. Annual payments are made for the licensing."
"Trend Micro Email Security's pricing is reasonable."
"The price is more accessible compared to some other solutions, like FortiMail. It offers excellent value for the price."
"It's a VPN solution. Trend Micro is reasonably priced."
"It is expensive. The cost is per box, and it depends on how big your environment is. Prices range from 11 to 12 dollars for licenses and can fluctuate up and down, but for environments with 4,000 to 5,000 users, it can be between 6 to 8 dollars."
"The price of Trend Micro Email Security is annual. There are no additional fees."
