Reliable image backups have protected our HMIs and simplified on‑premises recovery
We have not tried the vulnerability assessment feature yet because we have a different set of protocols for our cybersecurity. We conduct audits and plug the gaps as part of our security approach. We are not using AI with the anti-malware from Acronis; we are using it only for backup and recovery. On the backup and restoration side with Acronis Backup, some on-premises AI features which can detect anomalies may be something which would improve the product significantly. Otherwise, we are not very comfortable with cloud-based solutions at this time. We are looking for products which are entirely on-premises, so they remain within our control.

Simply provides single-vendor, consistent cloud-based backup
I would say that the room for improvement comes under the heading of performance. We backup a lot of information in a 24-hour period. It works fine. But there's always room for improvement on that. If they would make my 24-hour backup cycle window, from start to finish, a 15-hour or a 12-hour backup window, I'd be that much happier. Just to be clear, there's no time consumption on the part of my staff. This runs fully automatically. But the concern is that when you do backups, you want your backup window to be as narrow as possible. Actually, our backup window is 20 hours, and it gets done in 20 hours. Because, the longer it lingers, the more of a window there is for a disaster to knock you down.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The most valuable features of Acronis Backup are cloning and many other capabilities. For example, you are able to clone the whole operating system and drive. Additionally, the solution is a complete package."
"Acronis helps to backup data on a server and also to manage some cloning from 1 PC to another using the method."
"The licensing model is very good."
"Built in backup schemes are available within the software to fulfill most common backup tasks while you can configure detailed settings to meet your specific backup requirements."
"What Acronis provides is much more than that; it provides backup, management, and security, as well as vulnerability management and patch management, and a little bit of DLP."
"As far as I'm concerned, it's rock solid and I'm very pleased with it and I will continue to sell it and support it."
"The most valuable feature of the solution for me is that it's a full software as a service product so deployment time will be very quick."
"From my perspective, the most valuable features in Acronis Cyber Protect include ransomware protection and antivirus. These features not only add significant value but also play a crucial role in closing deals. When selling backup for Microsoft 365, these security features, like ransomware protection and antivirus, serve as a starting point to offer backup and protection."
"We don't think about our backups anymore, they're that reliable."
"The most important features is that it provides consistent cloud-based backup."

Cons

"There are times when the backups are slow. A faster backup would be better."
"One of my clients is using version 11.7, which I feel has quite a few bugs and is not easy to work with."
"I got a couple of backup errors and it didn't really give too much detail, but the program was still running on the computer that gave the errors."
"The whole product structure is confusing. You can actually get to do what you want to do. But Acronis seems to have a singular ability to make things difficult."
"Acronis Cyber Protect could be more affordable, especially for us in South America. It is important to review the cost for different countries."
"There are a lot of products out there that are a little bit stronger than Acronis where AV is concerned."
"They've got an agent to back up Microsoft SQL, to our Office 365, but there is not an agent to back up my SQL databases."
"It would be better if they made it easier to obtain images for laptops and desktops."
"We backup a lot of information in a 24-hour period. It works fine. But there's always room for improvement on that."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Acronis Backup is cheaper. If you install it on a hypervisor, you only pay for a single license. It would be for the backup server, and everything else will be covered by it. In that sense, it becomes a much cheaper option. However, if you have virtual machines, then it can be more expensive. Also, if you have a lot of physical machines the cost can be higher because each entity will need a separate license. There is a monthly license cost."
"It is a low-cost solution."
"The cost of updates is less than $100 USD yearly."
"Its price is quite friendly on the pocket. You need to pay the licensing cost upfront, and then the support charges are on an annual basis."
"The pricing is reasonable. However, it depends on the storage that you use. It would be great to have a package that we can use up to a certain size of the backup, this would allow us to know what the price is going to be up to that capacity."
"The price of the solution is reasonable."
"We pay a yearly subscription fee and the pricing is reasonable."
"It is very cost-effective for the SMB segment, especially for start-ups and smaller environments. It is cost-effective for on-premises and on-cloud deployments in such environments."
