Automated complex ETL workflows have reduced coding effort and improved data integration
One area for improvement is in integrating mostly the data which comes from telemetry, where I can see some sort of improvisations can be made. It is a massive amount of unstructured data, and I believe Alteryx is able to handle it, but there can be some improvements. Suggestions for improvements in Alteryx include areas for increasing efficiency, particularly in processing telemetry data, which involves dealing with large volumes of unstructured data. Additionally, I believe when we use filter tools immediately after the input source, there can be slowdowns when handling massive data. The user experience of Alteryx is generally good, but there are areas for improvement from a user's perspective, particularly regarding user interface enhancements. I think there's always room for improvement, but otherwise, Alteryx has been a great tool for me. We haven't experienced significant disruptions while increasing data volumes, though I sense there could be performance issues as data grows exponentially. This is an area that could use improvement in Alteryx.

Centralizes customer data for fast analytics but has struggled with many concurrent data pipelines
Hevo could be improved as we hit limits, particularly when it couldn't keep up with the high number of databases we wanted to sync frequently—ideally updating everything hourly for near real-time analytics rather than a day behind. We found that with many pipelines, performance degraded. After discussing with Hevo engineers, I learned that Hevo is designed for fast individual pipelines, but struggles with many concurrent pipelines. They suggested that consolidating data from fewer pipelines with more fields would perform better, but even that failed when I tested it with a Business Central database that had numerous fields. Hevo does have limits on the number of pipelines it can manage concurrently and on the number of fields in a single pipeline.Additionally, the API was slower to release compared to the user interface and was not feature-complete, which was frustrating. That said, Hevo actively worked on bridging many gaps. Overall, these were significant pain points I encountered.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The solution does a good job with data transformation."
"The scalability is one of the things that get our customers mostly excited about how easy it is to start scaling the server."
"The solution has excellent drag and drop functionality, there's no need for coding, and there are nodes ready for us to use as well, which makes everything extremely easy and the user-friendliness a big draw for us."
"The most valuable feature of Alteryx is its performance. It is a powerful solution."
"It helps them to create customized workflows, transform data, perform calculations, and consolidate multiple data sources into a target database."
"The product is intuitive and easy to use."
"I think the most valuable feature for Alteryx in a health facility is that it permits cleaning, organizing, and merging of databases such as Excel and Access."
"If you are looking for a self-service data analytics tool, Alteryx is a good solution."
"Hevo positively impacted my organization by allowing us to move data quickly and easily, enabling us to focus on our real challenge: performing analytics and reporting out of Snowflake with all customer data centralized despite using various applications."
"Hevo has positively impacted my organization by ensuring excellent usage of collected data, which is utilized in various workflows, including sales and marketing and customer relationship management, ultimately helping me serve clients better."

Cons

"Add inbuilt interactive visualization in Alteryx."
"More emphasis on extensible R and data augmentation interface design."
"The price is quite high, which is why there is a limitation on licenses, and not everyone has the right to use it, so if they could decrease the price, more people could use it easily."
"We can't browse multiple files. When we deploy a solution on a gallery, let's say I have ten different files, and I have to upload them all at once. This is something that's difficult in the gallery. So case by case, I see some downsides, but often we do something alternative."
"The software is not fully optimized."
"It would be great if Alteryx could take third party tools and incorporate them."
"Alteryx's data science and machine learning capabilities are where it loses out to DataIQ."
"Sometimes, while getting data from a third-party product, the solution works slowly."
"There are areas where Hevo could improve, particularly regarding its cost structure, as the pricing is based on usage and the advanced features can become costly for startups that are not well-established."
"Hevo could be improved as we hit limits, particularly when it couldn't keep up with the high number of databases we wanted to sync frequently—ideally updating everything hourly for near real-time analytics rather than a day behind."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"It is $4,000 a year, so it is cheap versus other solutions. It also accomplishes three times the volume on the job in the same time (as the other solutions)."
"It is too expensive for our country. We are a small country, so it is too difficult to sell this solution. With Alteryx Designer, if you want to automate the data and run the flows, you have to pay more money. We were trying to automate the flows, and we found out that people have to pay 600 more for this feature, which makes it even more expensive. We are a partner for Tableau, and we are working with Tableau Prep, which is like a mini Alteryx. In Tableau Prep, you can drag and drop and make new connections with the different data sources. You can make all the connections. You can also publish a source. You don't have to pay more money with Tableau. You pay like $5 per user per month to access it."
"The solution is expensive. It has license fees, which are renewable every year."
"It's probably on the pricey side, but they provide some really useful ways to grow and test."
"I rate the tool's pricing a two out of ten."
"In my opinion, it's actually quite expensive."
"The price could be better."
"A designer and scheduler for $13K/year in total is pretty much earning you the money back in time and in other resources."
