Performance testing has become central and reporting has provided clear insights for our teams
We do have command prompt related or CLI functionality with Apache JMeter, so it is easier. However, since it is open source, much work has not been put into the GUI part. The GUI could definitely be enhanced. One drawback which I can see when I compare it with other tools is the amount of cache that it uses, the memory that it uses. It becomes very difficult to work with when we have a lot of requests that need to be processed. Anything more than 10,000 requests becomes a bit of an unfavorable task when using Apache JMeter altogether. Otherwise, it does help anyone who is starting off with performance testing.

Automated regression has reduced repetitive testing and now needs simpler setup and reporting
I think that Appvance AIQ Platform can be improved by making some of the advanced features easier to configure and more intuitive for new users. The platform has a broad range of capabilities, so the learning curve can be a little easier when you first start working with it. I would also like to see more flexibility in customizing dashboards and reports for different QA teams and projects. It is a strong platform for automated testing, particularly for expanding regression coverage and reducing repetitive manual testing. But I would leave some room for improvement around the learning curve, as I mentioned earlier, and reporting customization, making some advanced features more accessible would be really useful for new users.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"It's an open-source tool, Apache JMeter, it's easy to customize and it provides an enormous amount of plugins, so based on the customer requirements we can customize our code and execute the test, and JMeter integrates well with Jenkins while the cloud offers CI/CD activity."
"API testing, Database Testing, and MQ testing can be done with ease."
"If you want to test your application out and not incur a lot of costs, it is probably the best tool."
"The ability to create a large number of user loads has been very helpful for us."
"To me, what's most valuable in Apache JMeter is that it's a lightweight tool for application testing."
"The new version of the solution is stable."
"It's easy to use and free, a huge community, and it offers a risk free to start, so use it for application performance testing."
"Apache JMeter is well-known and widely used among developers, particularly on popular developer forums. While it may not have the most user-friendly interface, it offers strong support through official manuals and various articles from companies providing load testing services. The tool is free, has a substantial community, and serves as a fundamental choice for testers, especially those new to performance testing. While other tools like K6 may be more developer-oriented, JMeter's affordability and accessibility make it suitable for those without extensive performance testing experience."
"It is a great performance testing tool."
"We saw the biggest improvement in testing time and regression coverage with Appvance AIQ Platform, as automation reduced the amount of manual execution required and allowed us to run a larger set of tests more frequently, making our regression cycles roughly 30 to 40% faster while increasing automated test coverage with more scenarios and data variations."

Cons

"When you run tests with JMeter, it generates test version five, which is extremely large."
"To improve Apache JMeter, reducing the complexity of load generators and distribution testing would be beneficial."
"The user interface is a little bit tricky."
"There could be improvements in terms of memory utilization. We are going to migrate away from JMeter in the near future."
"The installation needs some work. It could be simplified."
"One area for improvement is the ability to decrease load suddenly during tests. Currently, we need to use multiple separate JMeter instances to simulate reductions in load, which isn't ideal."
"The reporting is not very good."
"There are issues with stability when running with multiple users because it consumes a lot of memory."
"I think that Appvance AIQ Platform can be improved by making some of the advanced features easier to configure and more intuitive for new users."
"Reporting features can be improved to provide more flexibility, collation, exporting in different formats, etc."

"Apache JMeter is a free tool."
"The price of Apache JMeter is good. The selling rate is quite effective and the limited users with a multi-region-related execution."
