Centralized scheduling has improved automation and reduces manual monitoring for complex workflows
The best features JAMS Scheduler offers are centralized job scheduling, dependency management, and monitoring. I also appreciate the alerts and retry options because they help us handle failures without constantly checking jobs manually. Centralized scheduling makes it easier to manage all our jobs from one place instead of maintaining multiple schedulers or scripts. Dependency management is especially useful for chaining workflows because JAMS Scheduler can automatically trigger the next job only when the required previous step completes successfully. Another useful feature is the monitoring and alerting. If a scheduled job fails or runs longer than expected, we can quickly identify it and take action, which is particularly helpful for production support and reducing manual monitoring. JAMS Scheduler has helped quite a bit with identifying common job failures, missed schedules, dependency issues, and execution errors. The alerts and job history make it easier to identify the failure point and take corrective action without manually checking every workflow. JAMS Scheduler's code-driven automation has been useful for handling more complex scheduling logic and workflows that go beyond simple time-based triggers. It is important for us because we can combine scripts, dependencies, conditions, and parameters to support different production scenarios without creating too much manual intervention.

Experience significant automation with robust integration and user-friendly interfaces
There are areas of AutoSys Workload Automation that have room for improvement. They are implementing good enhancements in the R24 release. The web UI needs some improvement. Cloud integrations are limited to 25 or 30 configurable plugins and integrations to the cloud. They can improve in that area. They have separate tools, not AutoSys Workload Automation, such as Atomic and other SaaS-based solutions that can run inside the cloud. AutoSys Workload Automation can be configured in the cloud, but it requires a substantial number of VMs depending on the load. For on-premises deployment, it is a very good solution. They need to increase their footprint in the cloud and improve the web UI. They are making excellent progress in the R24 release.

Integration workflows have become transparent and secure while error tracking is streamlined
The best features in MuleSoft Anypoint Platform for me are transparency between logging in or deploying and using different environments. Managing different environments for the transparency of error logins or how to trace traceability is very important. It's very easy to use and sort, so you can see where everything has gone right and everything has gone wrong. I'm aware of the drag-and-drop interface in MuleSoft Anypoint Platform, and it's very, very quick. It's very time-saving and very efficient. The security features on MuleSoft Anypoint Platform help maintain data integrity in my organization; I would say it's second to none. It's one of the best out there that I have worked with because of the encryption and decryption, and there are a lot of security aspects. I would assess the platform's data mapping and transformation capabilities as amazing. Automation has been straightforward; the transformation and mapping have been easy to use, easy to source, and from the source to the target. I would say it has been very good.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Saving five to six hours of our working time weekly is significant because it reduces the need for manual scheduling, which is vital for our job and routine checks, helping my team focus more on their other operational responsibilities and making our workflow more organized."
"JAMS Scheduler has positively impacted our organization by helping us reduce manual intervention by automating recurring jobs and ensuring workflows can consistently run on schedule."
"JAMS gives operations teams a single place to manage, monitor, and track job execution, which from my perspective as a developer improves coordination between teams because everyone has visibility into the status of critical workloads and simplifies troubleshooting since job history, execution status, and other relevant information are all easily accessible, ensuring that business-critical processes are executed consistently and reliably across the organization."
"I find the historical tracking feature of JAMS invaluable for reviewing past events."
"It has definitely drastically improved our capabilities to scale our automation. Before JAMS, there were a lot of manual processes. We had a couple of operators who spent all day doing that. A lot of the time with human intervention and human processes, it is as good as the person who may be following a procedure and human error is a big problem."
"JAMS saves us on the order of thousands of hours per year."
"JAMS Scheduler has positively impacted my organization because we know it works, we know it is reliable, and we know we can set up jobs and schedules to run without needing to think about them again."
"The fact that we no longer need to use Excel spreadsheets is huge."
"The aggregator reporting utility which tells us our throughput in lag and latency."
"Virtual machine usage: It helped us to schedule the job to run on multiple servers based on the workload."
"The tool can probably handle way bigger stuff than what we are doing."
"The best features in AutoSys Workload Automation are its scalability and robustness; it can process a significant amount of jobs within a short period without delays when supported by powerful infrastructure and can communicate with endless agents and scan all 10,000 agent machines within minutes, updating agent statuses in the database quickly."
"CA Workload Automation automates across multiple platforms, enables you to tie into audit systems, gives you a lot of visibility as far as workload goes, and allows you to automate it as well."
"It is a lot more powerful and a lot more secure."
"The Inherit Dependencies feature reduces scheduling errors for holiday processing."
"In a billion dollar company, you want a scheduling product that is very robust, which can handle the magnitude of schedules that we run through it."
"Messaging and queueing solution that has good stability and scalability. It can be used for a variety of messaging types."
"It is a stable product...The initial setup was simple."
"The tool's visual features are attractive."
"It can scale."
"Mule Anypoint Platform is our preferred platform for integration."
"There is no question at all that there is a return on investment."
"The tool is very capable and offers a high performance. The tool supports batch processing and ETL processing."
"The platform's cloud integration capabilities are good."

Cons

"They recently switched to subscription-based pricing, which increased."
"To improve JAMS, it should resolve the issues with the JD Edwards application and the need for the SSH agent in the current version, which has been a problem for a while."
"The cost has definitely gone up tremendously. That is where I do know, as much as the feature sets are there, and if the newly acquired company is going to be doing a pushback, they might just say, 'Do we still need to pay this much? Or at that point, should we look into an alternative?'"

"There are some improvements needed for JAMS Scheduler; I would like to see more detailed error diagnostics and clearer troubleshooting guidance when scheduled jobs fail."
"The error messages from JAMS often need clarification, hindering our ability to resolve issues swiftly."
"Right now there's not much of an Azure integration with JAMS at the moment directly because we run separate pipelines."
"The UI could be better. There were some things that were not quite intuitive, such as the search tool. When we tried to search for jobs, we had to clear the entire search and then go in and enter the new search query. That's something that wasn't intuitive for a new user."
"The scalability is poor because I cannot use it for all automation solutions."
"CA Workload Automation AE (AutoSys Edition) should have a few features like the CA7 FQJOB command (to get all the downstream/upstream jobs with the batch current position)."
"Since Broadcom acquired it, the prices have increased. Many companies feel the same way and are looking for alternate solutions to replace AutoSys Workload Automation."
"Autosys is still lagging behind some competitive products from a functionality perspective."
"We received a 'Not active. "Scan Failed"; "The 'path/file' does not exist or not a directory" error message/email on one of our event level file triggers."
"They could do better supporting it. They have too many of the same type of products, so sometimes it doesn't get as much attention as it should."
"The lack of documentation, that is an issue."
"A better graphical user interface, because we have a lot of people using the client utility, and we want to get them away from that."
"This becomes an expensive solution over time."
"MuleSoft is considered one of the more expensive products in the market."
"Lacks intelligent management data and intelligent mappings."
"One area for improvement is the Community Hub or developer portal, which should be part of the base offering."
"In order to set up a storefront, we currently rely on a third-party solution. It would greatly enhance our operations if this feature was integrated into their existing solution."
"Anypoint MQ could improve the user interface."
"The terms of use and how it's priced has become very difficult to manage, which is forcing us to look for alternatives already - and we haven't even been using it for that long just yet."
"The platform's data integration tools need improvement on the processing side."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Our licensing is pretty cheap because we have a state solution. So, we pay only $1,000 a year."
"I haven't been involved in the financial side for several years, but we buy one host and unlimited agents, and we get a reasonable price for that. We're happy with the amount we pay and the scalability it provides."
"In the end, you'll find that it's really worth the price. There is some sticker shock, but it's worth every dime."
"The pricing of JAMS has not been an issue for us, as it has allowed us to save time."
"All licensing models are a little overpriced, but JAMS offers a good value, especially given their support response times and ability to handle unforeseen issues like the SFTP transfers. I hope to find more use cases to get a better bang for our buck."
"This is a good product at a fair price."
"It's expensive, to be honest, but it does the job."
"The pricing is reasonable."
"People need to pay attention to how they use their ESP agents on the distributed platform. That's where some of the cost comes in, based on how many you need or how many you use."
"The pricing needs to be improved. Some of my client's complained that it was too expensive."
"It is overpriced."
"The price of this solution is reasonable and there is an annual license required."
"The return on investment would be very high because doing things manually without this product would be extremely expensive."
"Validate how many agents you need beforehand."
"We paid to use the solution monthly."
"I certainly think the pricing is worth the value."
"Mule is not the cheapest integration platform out there, but it deserves the price we are paying."
"I can't give you a straightforward answer because sometimes it depends on the usage. If you're going to have fewer than 5 million messages, it is free of cost. If you're going to have more than 5 million messages, they're going to charge $100 per month"
"MuleSoft Anypoint Platform really needs to work on its pricing model because it's very complicated."
"Making changes in Anypoint MQ is expensive."
"Mule Anypoint Platform pricing is slightly higher compared to Dell Boomi."
"The product comes complete at one set price including support."
"The solution is the priciest in the market which is an issue for some clients."
"Licensing can be complex as is the case with most iPaaS/cloud offerings."
