I use Gluster as a backup. In fact, my company has a product called xBackup, which is completely based on Gluster. It includes various tools and technologies for high-performance backup, including solid-state technologies and mechanical disks, among others. Additionally, I use various other…

Backup operations have become reliable and reporting now simplifies hybrid cloud protection
Veeam Data Platform has Veeam Enterprise Manager as well as Veeam ONE as valuable features, which allow us to generate various kinds of reports that are required for the customer. Instant VM Recovery is a good feature of the high-speed recovery features in Veeam Data Platform, and Continuous Data Protection (CDP) is also a good feature. Ransomware protection is a good feature added in Veeam Data Platform from version 12 onwards, and the ability to create immutable repositories is also a good feature in Veeam. The analytics part of Veeam Data Platform is a good solution because I have worked on various backup technologies such as EMC NetWorker and NetBackup. However, I have not used the analytical parts currently but will check it out. Streamlining processes as well as saving money are benefits that Veeam Data Platform provides for the end user, as it allows for application-aware backups and database backups without the need for various kinds of licenses that other backup software requires. Veeam offers socket-based licenses, instance-based licenses, and capacity-based licenses, which is a great feature.

Pros

"The most valuable feature of the solution is the ease of installation it provides its users."
"Bareos offers encryption on the fly, compression on the fly, and a robust and stable configuration."

"The instant VM recovery feature is the most valuable. It is a very good tool for disaster recovery. It is also easy to manage."
"WAN Accelerator helps tremendously with replicating our data because we have a large chunk of data that gets replicated between our two facilities."
"There are many features that include the SQL table-level restore, Instant VM Recovery, and SureBackup, which are valuable to us."
"We get a lot of features with Veeam and we are happy to use this solution. After shutdown, the servers here automatically turn off and Veeam is keeping up all this. It's tension free work."
"Overall, this is quite a good product and I recommend it."
"For what it's designed to do, providing high availability and backup for virtual environments, it's definitely a jewel."
"The features I find most valuable are probably the VMware snapshot backups and the Veeam replication. Their replication is very good. It can easily be used for disaster recovery in a number of situations."

Cons

"Improvement is needed in the graphical web administration tool."
"The virtual machine backup is an area with shortcomings that need improvement."
"I think the backup and integration could be improved."
"There is always scope for improvement (in fact with the v8 version there will be improvements in fact!), But already it is great!"
"We would like the ability to backup physical servers."
"They also do not monitor physical workloads, for example, physical Windows Servers and physical Linux Servers."
"The product’s stability has certain issues and needs to be improved. The solution’s pricing could be also cheaper."
"I think that the web interface could be more visual."
"There might be room for improvement at the plugin level, specifically concerning application plugins."
"Veeam needs to have more support for non-Windows systems and other databases."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"I use the open-source version of Bareos, which means I used the free version of the solution."
"Veeam Backup and Replication is a cost-effective solution"
"The price is a bit high."
"It is an affordable solution."
"Veeam has a ten-license package gives you two physical and two virtual servers you can use on any endpoint."
"Our licensing cost is $200 a year."
"It comes with a higher cost and it is an all-inclusive solution."
"If you tell Veeam that you're competing with, for example, NetBackup or Backup Exec, or Dell or Micro Focus then they may lower the price. They are very competitive."
"The tool’s licensing is yearly and flexible. I would rate the solution’s pricing a seven out of ten."
