Stable with a good database and a good interface
We primarily use the solution to deal with problems in the production environment For us, the database is the most useful feature. The interface is great. We don't find the pricing to be too bad. The initial setup was fairly easy. I'm not sure how to improve the solution. It currently has all of…

Dashboards facilitate prompt alerts but discovery feature needs enhancement
I would recommend Broadcom DX Application Performance Management if a customer doesn't have any existing performance solution. However, ten years ago, the solution was better, and now there are many competitive options. My overall rating would be between six and seven. The product rating I would give is 6.5 out of 10.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The initial setup was fairly easy."
"The solution is stable, reliable, and doesn't have any bugs or glitches, and it doesn't crash or freeze."
"Our development cycle has definitely improved as far as the turnaround time on fixes and improvements."
"Crash analytics goes down to the level of code you need to check."
"The incidences raised by end users for application performance-related issues decreased from 1700 per quarter to 250 per quarter."
"It’s a great product and provides a lot of in-depth data."
"If there's something that you really need to get at that doesn't come out of the box, you can pretty easily put together some custom metrics and get those in place."
"We have deployed this product at many businesses and the reviews of the customers was that it increased the value and revenue for their business."
"CA APM is a brand name; it is easy, proactive, intelligent and collaborative, and all of these features lead every business transaction as a loyalty-building interaction."
"We can find out the bottlenecks before the customer encounters them."

Cons

"There are certain aspects of the configuration that could be simplified a bit."
"It's not as agile in keeping up with the direction that CA is pushing it."
"On Windows Platform, it’s not great and/or stable (from previous experience)."
"In the past when we've called them it's been really hit or miss. Like on a scale of one to 10, I'd give it a six."
"The upgrade was complex. The documentation could have been a little bit better, but other than that, it was okay."
"Very often, we use tools such as Kibana or Jaspersoft for dashboards and reporting on CA APM data because CA APM’s old interfaces do not reflect well in modern displays, compared to those new tools."
"Support for more programming languages and a complete fusion with the Customer Experience Management product because the product needs an appliance to get the user experience."
"I have not rated it higher because I’d like more integration and more bells and whistles."
"If you will ask me about the general Level 1 support of the CA, and I would give them a two or three out of 10 because it takes a long time to get to them to focus on the program."

Pricing and Cost Advice

Information not available
"It is definitely expensive for what we get, but there isn't an alternate option at the moment."
"Pricing and licensing are not issues."
"The licensing costs are expensive."
"I'm unable to give information on Broadcom DX Application Performance Management licensing costs, but all Application Performance Management products have expensive pricing. This means that it's not only Broadcom that's expensive, and it would be an advantage if the cost would be a little bit cheaper."
"Dynatrace is the most expensive of these tools followed by AppDynamics which is "medium-expensive." CA APM is a bit lower in price than either Dynatrace or AppDynanics... In my opinion, if you can afford it, go for AppDynamics instead of CA APM."
"The pricing structure should be based on memory or CPU usage rather than the number of agents, as it makes the solution more expensive for us."
"On pricing, CA is very competitive. I think that's going to help in the long run."
"Depends on the size of the product you need."
