Has required significant improvements due to limited features but offers simple implementation and good support
Boomi AtomSphere API Management has very few features. If you ask me to name the top two, I would say MuleSoft and Apigee, as it depends on the customer-to-customer use cases. After those, WSO2, Kong, and whether you say Informatica API Manager or Boomi AtomSphere API Management, they stand with only three out of ten features which are essential for API management. All the features that Apigee has, they need to add. All the features that MuleSoft has, they need to add. It is not a simple task. The problem is that they lack features. It is not their performance. There are many features to mention. When you take and compare all the features that Apigee has and all the features that MuleSoft has, they need to implement those features.
Integration capabilities excel and support for varied platforms enhances communication across backend systems
We mainly use REST APIs, and the solution's integration capabilities are excellent. It allows communication with a number of back-end providers and data consolidation. The flexibility to develop APIs for various platforms, from front-end applications to ATM machines, is valuable. Code changes and migration are straightforward, and it supports identity and access management integration.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Integrations take less time."
"Boomi allows for more secure URLs and easy customization of HTTP and HTTPS protocols, which I find very beneficial."
"We can develop almost any interface that we need."
"The stability of the solution is good."
"The user interface, which we use to create the integration, basically has the data structures collected, is pretty easy to navigate, is a drag and drop style of working, and there is very little code required so the creation of the endpoints is very simple."
"Integration is straightforward. There is no issue with it."
"AtomSphere is tightly integrated into the Boomi iPaaS platform. And Boomi has been augmenting AtomSphere API Management for the past couple of years so version 2.0 is better than 1.0."
"The product's stability is good."
"Stability is great."
"Initial setup is straightforward. It is simple and easy to do."
"It allows you to much more rapidly expose enterprise services to front-end applications, such as mobile and web."
"The level of technical support is good."
"We loved the portal part the most, which had monetization and showed how people were using the stuff, and it is a good product as a whole and has a lot of microservices and granular features."
"API Management makes dealing with APIs easier, it will help you to move ahead on your API application journey, and the solution allows developers to create more advanced security policies."
"Tech support is fast and responsive."
"The most valuable feature is that it enables me to present data in the format that the client wants to consume it. That client might be a visualization tool, that client might be a report, that client might be a customer's API requirements."

Cons

"Boomi AtomSphere API Management has very few features. If you ask me to name the top two, I would say MuleSoft and Apigee, as it depends on the customer-to-customer use cases."
"Overall, I would rate AtomSphere lower than solutions like APG or API Connect."
"To some degree, you need to know what type or amount of API you are creating - whether it's a rest API or web service API. You need to know ETL in order to really get the most out of Boomi."
"Scalability is an area where Boomi lacks."
"Most of the basic functionality is there in Boomi, but APG is a more feature-rich solution."
"The product is really complex to manage."
"Boomi AtomSphere API Management can be improved in terms of threshold management and policy management."
"It's difficult to integrate the on-prem application with the Dell Boomi Cloud. We have to check to ensure the Dell domain engine is running. It just requires some service endpoints from our on-prem application to connect to Dell Boomi Cloud to make it available to integrate. It would be better if AtomSphere API Management were offered as a purely SaaS application, so I wouldn't need an on-prem component to make it available. We could make a test call or provide some connection parameters. That should enable it to pull the data."
"I was hoping that there would be some deeper dive Gateway training than their two day workshop and the self-paced study provided."
"Every time you touch something in the Policy Manager you think, "Well, that's a GUI, humans need to go in and do something with it.""
"They should incorporate deeper monitoring features into the solution to make the offering more complete."
"There could be more integration options included in the product."
"The Portal lacks maturity. Since the move from Portal 3.x to 4.x, a lot of features were removed."
"There’s a developer portal that is used to document your APIs that is woefully behind the times, in terms of being able to provide a really good robust experience for the developers consuming your APIs."
"The architecture of the solution does not allow for flexibility in using different components for the gateway architecture."
"CA can provide more features to help with performing tests, for example, to create a month of simulated data to perform stress tests using the CA."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The product can get very expensive quickly if you connect to multiple databases."
"Boomi AtomSphere API Management is a cheap product."
"Boomi AtomSphere API Management gives customers a good price. Price-wise, the product is good."
"The price is reasonable."
"At the time we bought the product it was a perpetual users license and there has been no need for additional licensing fees."
"If you do a TCO of more than five years, then you will see a big jump in costs for some vendors."
"This solution is a bit more expensive than competitors."
"CA has great pricing for gateways, so negotiate with your sales team."
"There are some costs for maintenance that we are charged, but that seems fair because we get the support."
"Keep in mind the non-product licensing, e.g., if you opt not to use the embedded SQL."
"I do not have experience with the pricing or licensing of the product."
"For what we are after, the pricing is okay. It is competitive."
