Cost-effective chipset saves resources and offers rich features
The Broadcom StrataDNX chipset, such as the DNX, is quite a generic chipset and from the cost perspective, it is quite cost-effective hardware. When we decide to use such an Ethernet switch, our R&D and headquarters consider using the Broadcom chipset as one of the merchandised chipsets in our system, providing a cost-effective solution to our customers. The cost-saving with Broadcom StrataDNX is one of the critical criteria for using the DNX as one of our hardware chipsets. From the features perspective, it is quite feature-rich, so we can leverage those existing functions on the SDK to develop our own features in our equipment.

Security, reliability, and cost-effectiveness drive success across different business scales
HPE Ethernet Switches are very much covered on the security front due to their ClearPass technology, which is exceptional. They are highly scalable and stable, which is vital for large enterprises that require reliable performance. Additionally, HPE Ethernet Switches offer a cost-saving advantage as they are approximately 40% cheaper than comparable Cisco solutions. The integration of the switches is very straightforward, making them an attractive choice for many organizations.

Pros

"The Broadcom StrataDNX chipset, such as the DNX, is quite a generic chipset and from the cost perspective, it is quite cost-effective hardware."
"Easy to integrate with any of the other hardware platforms."
"The good thing about the StrataDNX is that the Broadcom family is very interchangeable, so they work well with different optical transceivers."
"For the mobile backhaul or up to the PE, however, StrataDNX is a proven solution."
"The cost-saving with Broadcom StrataDNX is one of the critical criteria for using the DNX as one of our hardware chipsets, and from the features perspective, it is quite feature-rich, so we can leverage those existing functions on the SDK to develop our own features in our equipment."
"HPE switches have been rock-solid for many years."
"Switching to HPE Ethernet Switches greatly improved our network. We used to have both Cisco and HPE Ethernet Switches. Our network performance has increased by 300 percent."
"I think it's on par with other vendors like Dell."
"The technical support is really good. They're fast, knowledgeable, and customer-ready."
"We chose HP because they met most of the criteria that we were looking at, and they were able to come up with some solutions that were a little outside of the box when things didn’t quite fit."
"One of its greatest selling features is its price; it's very cheap - much cheaper than Cisco - and that, coupled with its comparable capabilities to other items on the market, makes it a very attractive option."
"HP gave me quality that equalled or surpassed Cisco with a TCO within range of D-Link/Netgear."
"HPE Ethernet Switches offer a good return on investment. They offer a lifetime warranty, which is good. Cisco SMB level only declares a one-year warranty, and for the enterprise level, you need to get a service pack, which costs extra."

Cons

"The standard features do not provide a full feature set, so we need to create our own features to compensate for those limitations."
"The scaling number of IPv4/IPv6 RIB/FIB, OSPF/IS-IS/BGP routing table and MAC table size could be increased."
"The number of surfaces that can be handled by the chipset could be increased."
"There is room for improvement in the pricing model."
"I think that Cisco's switches are more stable, so HP's switches could really be improved more with stability."
"A lower price would be an improvement because we always want to reduce our costs."
"It would be helpful to have training available for this solution."
"To me, the technical support is not that good."
"The next release would benefit from adding a central management that could be deployable on premise and allow you to see the layout of topology."
"We're quite basic users, but what I'd really like to see improvement on is the management."
"The technical support does not match up to the standard of Cisco."
"I am not sure if I can manage our new requirements through these because they are too old."
