Advanced email filtering has reduced phishing incidents and protects users across our organization
Check Point Anti-Spam and Email Security Software Blade works very well overall, but there are a few areas where it could be improved. One is the reporting interface; it is useful but could be more intuitive and provide clearer insights without needing to go through multiple menus. I would also like to see faster or more seamless updates to threat intelligence so the system reacts even more quickly to new phishing techniques. Regarding the reporting feature of Check Point Anti-Spam and Email Security Software Blade, I think the reporting and analytics could be more modern and integrated. The data is there, but a more customizable dashboard or clearer summaries would make it easier to present threats or justify decisions to management. Better visualization would really help. Another improvement I would like to see is deeper integration with the platforms we use, such as more seamless connections with our ticketing system or user directory. Everything works, but a deeper level of automation would be beneficial.

Provides robust email security features but requires improved modernization and complexity management
Modernization is an area that could be improved for Cisco Secure Email Threat Defense, as some features have lagged behind newer competitors, potentially offering more advanced analysis capabilities. The initial setup is not straightforward and requires expertise and time to master configurations such as spoofing and DLP. More control over backend functionalities and simplifying rule management could enhance user experience. The product's complexity at times results in redundant rule sets that are difficult to untangle, highlighting the need for streamlined management systems and a more user-centric approach to system configuration. Furthermore, the pricing might deter new users who could opt for alternative, more cost-effective solutions.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Overall, the product rating is nine out of ten."
"I like the flexible configuration set, e.g. both the content-based and the IP reputation anti-spam are supported, but you may choose to disable the mechanism you don't like."
"Advanced Spam Filtering to identify and block unwanted email messages."
"It is certainly very beneficial for a small business and works best in combination with other Check Point blades, such as the Data Protection Blade that protects against data loss via email."
"Since the engine is made to block by IP, domains, and reputation, we minimized the spam threats that end up in the user's mailbox."
"Check Point Anti-Spam and Email Security Software Blade is the best fit and a good universal solution for all businesses and IT companies to secure their system and servers from all kinds of endpoints and malware."
"The real-time threat intelligence and advanced phishing detection make a big difference in our day-to-day work because since deploying them, we have seen a noticeable drop in the phishing emails reaching end-user inboxes, which reduces the number of security incidents that we need to investigate and saves time for the SOC team."
"I find the Next-Gen firewall with SandBlast technology the most valuable feature, as it is good for stopping attacks."
"Cisco Secure Email Threat Defense's best features include user management of graymail, enhancing security awareness by allowing users to manage cold calls, sales-based items, and ensuring email compliance."
"It's very easy to deploy and configure."
"Overall, it's certainly a very good idea to integrate another layer on top of Microsoft Advanced Threat Protection."
"The features and functionalities are much better than Microsoft's in-built Defender plan, and this product has helped us to protect our organization from any malware attack in the past."
"I would say it's very comprehensive, with multiple antivirus OEMs, virus encrypt features, encryption, and more."
"The solution is stable."
"Cisco Cloud Mailbox is used for copying emails, anti-spamming, and securing the company's email, and we really enjoy the anti-spamming capabilities as well as the rejecting of bulk emails, which we can customize by adjusting the variables, and it is very user-friendly."
"The ability to see east-west traffic is its most valuable feature. Traditionally, email defense focuses on north-south, inbound-outbound, egress-ingress traffic. With Cisco Secure Email Cloud Mailbox, it's able to quickly identify, track, tag, and categorize emails that are internal. That can typically give us visibility into if there's an internal compromised account (for example). Someone can then use that internal compromised account to email additional accounts with either malicious software or links, but internal within that Office tenant. Effectively, that email message never leaves the tenant. Any of the mail gateways really do not have any method or way of seeing this traffic since it's not leaving the environment."

Cons

"Mobile solutions should be added to Check Point because business email is also used by users on mobile devices."
"I had the need for specialized support in Spanish. However, there are only specialists in the English-speaking language, and that has, in some cases, limited support."
"The ease of use with the user interface could be better as it is very static."
"There could be an extension of the trial period to 60 days."
"The solution's technical support is an area with shortcomings that need to be improved for the better."
"They should keep the software up to date with the latest patches and updates to ensure optimal protection."
"They should upgrade support services and make a more user-friendly database."
"Our solution required multiple appliances, as a single appliance only supports up to 5,000 files."
"The behavioral analysis capability of Cisco Secure Email Threat Defense is not particularly helpful for identifying new, evolving threats within my company, as it keeps flagging legitimate emails as malicious."
"This solution could be improved by integration with Sandbox."
"The search area has room for improvement."
"The tool gives false positives and it needs to be more accurate. I would like to see AI as a new feature."
"The pricing could always be better."
"From a technical point of view, Cisco is far behind in terms of cybersecurity, and it has to improve very much."
"The solution is a bit expensive. It could be cheaper."
"I wouldn't recommend Cisco to others because I think Fortinet is better."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"I rate the product pricing a seven out of ten."
"I rate the pricing as an eight on a scale of one to ten, where one is cheap and ten is expensive."
"This is a simple system with a very low cost and basic functions, which surely is ideal for a small company."
"Choosing the correct set of licenses is essential because, without the additional software blade licenses, the Check Point gateways are just a stateful firewall."
"Reasonably priced solution."
"The cost is competitive with other security products on the market."
"For licensing, my company makes yearly payments, which is expensive."
"The feedback from vendors and customer is that it is expensive."
"Cisco Secure Email Cloud Mailbox does not have any competition with Sophos, Trend Micro, or other vendors of the world. However, there is a pricing premium for the solution. One has to look at it from that angle that while they are buying Cisco, there will be a premium, and Cisco justifies that premium value. That's why they're charging a high price."
"The solution’s pricing is manageable."
"It is expensive compared to other vendors."
