Optical Fiber Splicer at a tech company with 51-200 employees
Layered security has improved policy management and supports clear monitoring workflows
Sophos has a low price, so customers with lower budgets will purchase Sophos. Customers with good budgets who want security features will implement Fortinet, Palo Alto, and Check Point because these are enterprise-level solutions and provide better security. Sophos is only compared for its price point. Price is a significant factor. When we refer customers to Check Point Quantum Force, the price is high compared to other firewalls, and customers are not agreeable because their budgets do not accommodate Check Point Quantum Force. Fortinet firewall and Sophos firewall are more easily available and have more accessible pricing compared to Check Point Quantum Force and Palo Alto. Check Point Quantum Force does not have strong local support. We are based in India, and Check Point Quantum Force does not have extensive local support. It takes time for responses, and sometimes they provide local SI contact numbers, but we sometimes face delayed problem resolution rather than quick action.

Sr. Network Engineer at a tech services company with 1-10 employees
Has supported urgent deployments and enabled inline threat protection but pricing and features could be more flexible
I am not using Palo Alto Networks VM-Series mostly, but based on my experience, there are some deficiencies in Palo Alto Networks VM-Series. Having those features missing, we are not proposing Palo Alto Networks VM-Series to all customers. However, for urgency and for some solutions that customers need for some of their other sites and subdivisions, we are providing the same.

Pricing and Cost Advice

Information not available
"Palo Alto Networks VM-Series is the most expensive tool among competitors"
"For what you get, it does do what it says. It is a good value for an enterprise firewall."
"For licensing, It depends how they want to use the firewall. The firewall can be used only for IPS purposes. If you only want that firewall IPSs, you will only need a license that is called threat prevention. That license, threat prevention, includes vulnerabilities, antivirus signatures and one additional measure (that I can't remember), but it includes three measures and security updates."
"Palo Alto is more expensive than other products."
"The pricing was expensive but it was comparable to the competition."
"It is a little bit of crazy if you compare it to Vanguard, Sophos, or even Cisco. The newest version of Cisco, the Next-Generation Firewall of Cisco, is less expensive than Palo Alto. It is more comparable to Check Point."
"Do not buy larges box if you do not need them. Rightsizing is a great task to do beforehand."
"Purchasing on the AWS Marketplace was simple, effective, and easy."
