Manageable, provides excellent support, and easily integrates with other products
One central area for improvement in Cisco is its product line offering. Cisco has ISE and other products, such as DNS Center and other components. Instead of small to medium-sized customers purchasing devices and maintaining the devices, it would be great if customers could have subscriptions. A CAPEX/OPEX model instead of that Cisco code, where the pricing model is subscription-based, would give much better flexibility for the customers. The pricing and model for Cisco Cloud Services Router and other Cisco products could be improved. One good example of what I want to be added to the Cisco Cloud Services Router in its next version is for it to be more of a plug-and-play product. For example, Juniper has developed QR codes, so if you need to plug in a device, you scan from your phone and connect to the internet. That's it. You can provision the device remotely through the cloud orchestrator, so I want to see a similar function or feature in Cisco Cloud Services Router.

Reliable border connectivity with responsive support but there's room for more intuitive documentation
The documentation is somewhat lacking and not easy to navigate. There are some errors and misleading information. The general appearance of the company site is also not user-friendly for downloading firmware. Firmware updates should be more straightforward. More security features would be appreciated, however, they should be easy to understand and implement.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The routing service for NPLS called Layer 3-IP is fantastic."
"It is definitely scalable. It can handle a lot more traffic and group work compared to any other products that I've evaluated. It could easily scale a lot more than what I'm doing right now."
"The most valuable feature is the SNMP traps that I use to monitor the router and the availability of the network."
"Cisco has helped improve my organization in the was that it actually helped us to get the communication between on-prem and cloud to become smoother since we got it."
"It allowed us to create a more secure VPN than we would have been able to do without it."
"It provides us with highly secure, reliable, and easy-to-manage 3G/4G LTE WAN cellular and wireless LAN connectivity for mobile environments."
"The most valuable feature is the artificial intelligence assessment models."
"Overall, it works really well and does not have any large bugs or issues with it."
"The most valuable feature of Huawei Enterprise Routers is if have two networks at different geographical locations with a great deal of distance they work together as if they are on the same cloud network."
"The product is good, easy to manage , and works fine."
"The scalability is good."
"The product is easy to improve and deploy in terms of configuration for engineers and technical executives."
"Based on my experience of about four years, I think that Huawei Enterprise Routers are pretty stable."
"My recommendation is that you use Huawei Routers; they are good, and they don't have any problems."
"I have been able to connect the solution to many platforms such as Windows, Apple, and Android."
"I think technical support is better than others."

Cons

"If you lose connectivity to the cloud, it is difficult to establish connectivity between the hub and spoke."
"The configuration is difficult."
"Technical support could be better. I am missing a single pane of glass, where I can see all the connections, etc."
"The AWS version seems to be a lot less reliable, and we had a lot of issues with the initial configuration."
"It could grow or adapt to changes in the cloud. For example, cloud does not support autoscaling. When people want to grow, they have to do manual activities."
"A CAPEX/OPEX model, where the pricing model is subscription-based, would give much better flexibility for the customers. The pricing and model for Cisco Cloud Services Router and other Cisco products could be improved."
"I would like the ability to moderate between devices on-premise to off-premise. This would be a vast improvement."
"Cisco Cloud Services Router could improve by having more features. It is lacking features, such as virtualization and containerization. Additionally, there should be increased security and connectivity between routers."
"The product's pricing could be better."
"Huawei Enterprise Routers can improve by enhancing their security. The software architecture and the operating system that runs on their router and the security capability are not as strong when compared to Cisco."
"It would be better if local storage management was more flexible, so that unused data could be easily removed."
"There is no licence for this solution, but the solution could be cheaper."
"There isn't really any scalability potential."
"The configuration is complex and should be simplified."
"Huawei needs to be a bit more open with their licensing model. Essentially, they need to open their licensing model such that when a customer buys a device, they have a full view of all of the available licenses for it."
"The internet service for enterprise bundle should be improved."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Purchasing the product on the AWS Marketplace was very simplistic. Our organization was trying to centralize our billing costs, and simplicity was best."
"The price is a little high, more than what we wanted to pay. This is one area where we would like to understanding how the price could be brought down a bit more."
"The product is too expensive on the AWS Marketplace."
"Cisco Cloud Services Router is an expensive product. My company pays for the product yearly, and the price reaches roughly $800,000. Though Cisco Cloud Services Router is expensive and its competitors offer better pricing, when it comes to support, it's unbeatable."
"Purchasing through the AWS Marketplace was easy. It was almost a one-click process to purchase CSR."
"We would prefer to go through the vendor instead of AWS, as we have a relationship with the vendor and can get discounts directly from them. Going through the vendor, it is much cheaper for us. Though, we would still keep it hosted on AWS."
"The cost needs improvement. It is very expensive through the AWS Marketplace."
"You do need to pay a licensing fee to use the solution. You can do a yearly or three-year subscription. The product itself is quite expensive. It would be ideal if they offered the product at a cheaper price."
"These routers are not too expensive."
"Huawei Enterprise Routers’s cost is average. I rate its pricing a five out of ten."
"The product is inexpensive, but there is an extra cost for replacement of the device."
"The tool's licensing is yearly."
"The solution's price is reasonable."
"The product is expensive."
"The price is reasonable compared to Cisco's."
"There are additional licensing costs. I am aware of additional licenses and which services are added to the router."
