Using the app is straightforward with easy buttons to click on.
Customer Service: We didn't contact their customer service at any point because the backup and recovery process is pretty straightforward. But they have a customer support email and phone just in case. Technical Support: CloudAlly can be used by a non-techie person because it's simple. We didn't contact the technical support, but it's available for any user who may encounter a problem.

Unified data protection has simplified hybrid backups and has improved ransomware recovery speed
Commvault Cloud's best feature in terms of protection is that it provides data protection and accomplishes its job effectively. It offers a unified approach to backup across all environments, including on-premises, public cloud, and SaaS applications such as M365 and Salesforce. I also use it for virtual machines and databases. The unified protection approach helps my team manage different environments effectively. Before Commvault Cloud, I used a separate VM backup tool to protect the VMware environment. For database backup, I had to use the native tool or backup scripts. For the cloud part, I had to use the native AWS or Azure cloud tools. After moving to Commvault Cloud, a single policy or a set of backup policies is applied across virtual machines, databases, workloads, and cloud workloads. I can protect my environments, which reduces manual configuration errors. Regarding visibility, it provides one dashboard to manage and centralize monitoring of all workloads. It is very easy to track backup success or failure. I can see the SLA compliance and storage usage without needing to jump between tools to check or have visibility of it. Regarding the recovery experience, the recovery time has been reduced drastically by using Commvault Cloud. It has simplified cloud management and provides easier manageability to manage retention policies, encryption policies, and compliance rules. This helps reduce operational workloads. Commvault Cloud has impacted me very positively. It simplifies and unifies data protection across hybrid workloads. Instead of managing multiple backup tools for virtual machines, databases, and SaaS applications, I now have a single platform with consistent policies and centralized visibility. This has really reduced my operational complexity and improved backup reliability. Regarding the cyber resiliency posture, the immutable backups and ransomware recovery workflow give me greater confidence in recovering quicker from potential risks. Commvault Cloud has positively impacted me in several key areas: unified backup management across environments, reduced operational overhead, improved ransomware resiliency, faster recovery times, better visibility for compliance, and easier management of hybrid or cloud workloads.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The user-friendly interface of CloudAlly significantly enhances data protection."
"CloudAlly provides a unique solution for every major email application."
"With this solution, its remarkable to see that ease of use means ease of use."
"Definitely an impressive ROI because the app is inexpensive and saves us time, headaches plus slow computer devices that could be jammed with huge data."
"The global application provides a lot of storage for customers, with good security features for Google, videos, irregular encryption, and backups, and the solution includes the best compatibility metrics for integration managed by Google support."
"Overall, we have been impressed by the features of the solution and by the responsiveness of Commvault's support, we like the product and we feel we made a good decision in acquiring Commvault and working with them, and we are pretty happy."
"The recovery features are useful. It is easy to recover data. If something happens, we can easily recover data. We have faced ransomware issues twice, and we recovered because of Commvault."
"The solution's interface is easy to use. For manageability, it doesn't matter where the resource is coming from or going to. That's the great power of the Control Panel: It's easy to use and does not matter if you manage on-prem or cloud resources."
"What I like about Commvault is that it's very robust."
"We specialize in Commvault and IntelliSnap. Commvault covers all our customers' backup needs in one system, and they have complete control over their Snapshot backups. Snapshots are important to our customers because of the size of their data sets."
"We have evaluated three or four cloud-based backup solutions, but the other ones in the market didn't even come close to Commvault."
"Commvault's Command Center is one of the best solutions out there, and you can rely on Commvault solutions for the most complex and most demanding environments."

Cons

"CloudAlly can improve in the areas of reporting, especially regarding backup statistics and backup failures presented in pie graphs and charts."
"They can always improve the interface design to make it easier."
"Sometimes, we have a performance issue with the backup speed. So, that has to be rectified and improved."
"This is not a very high standard product."
"The local support could be improved."
"Could be easier to implement."
"The Java interface is not great. The Command Center interface is far better and it looks nicer, but it doesn't have all the powerful features available in the CommServe/Java console. The place to improve the product is on the management interface level."
"If I have an issue, it will indeed take more time to receive a response because they have limited resources, but otherwise, Commvault Cloud has reasonable support, although they will not come on-site and it will be remote support."
"The price of Commvault HyperScale X could improve."

Pricing and Cost Advice

Information not available
"The licensing costs are determined on a yearly basis. It might be around $40,000 or $50,000. There are no costs in addition to the standard licensing fees."
"It is not the cheapest solution. I think the pricing is fair for mid-side customers. It is between all the other options."
"It is cheaper than NetBackup, but its price can be lower. If a good solution can be cheaper, it is always an advantage. Its licensing is on a yearly basis."
"In my experience, compared to solutions like Veritas and Veeam, while they do have their technical pluses and minuses, Commvault can save you on average forty percent initially, and then twenty to twenty-five percent annually."
"The solution is bundled with hardware licensing. If I want to increase the hardware, I have to buy exactly the same because it's based on the core hardware license. We cannot tell discount because we have an NDA signed with Commvault because of my academic license. The solution is more expensive than NetBackup and Veeam but cheaper than Rubrik."
"I rate the product’s pricing a five out of ten."
"Based on the customer's needs, their pricing and model is very confusing sometimes. You need to check with their sales to make sure you are getting the right pricing on whatever you are using. I know that they have simplified a lot regarding the licensing model nowadays, but it is good to always double check and make sure it has everything that you really need."
"The pricing is far better than we had in the past. The license for Dell EMC was not too expensive, but the storage, given that Dell EMC is based on data domains, was pretty expensive."
