Managing complex data hierarchies has improved analytics but still needs richer hierarchy types
To evaluate Cube's efficiency in handling large data volumes, I use metrics including F1 scores, AUC (Area Under the Curve), and RMC (Root Mean Squares), along with RSE (Root Square Errors). These factors help me gauge the efficiency of the algorithms clearly. Regarding improving Cube, I believe that when we are building hierarchies, I should enhance the type of hierarchies. For instance, in a few countries lacking state systems, there could be a hierarchy without proper categorization—such as continent, country, and city. Therefore, it would be beneficial if I could improve the hierarchies to retrieve data as quickly as possible from Cube.

Has simplified multi-database querying and accelerated solution delivery with minimal setup
Denodo offers a great query language, the VQL, which was very easy to understand for someone that only knows SQL. It was easy to work with, and it was easy to integrate various types of databases in general. The usability of the platform is very great. The federated queries were also a feature that I used a lot. The easy usability of Denodo helped my work and made things easier for productivity. We were able to ship code faster than if we needed to use another type of data visualization tool or even an ETL. When we have multiple databases, the standard or common approach is just to have an ETL that matches the data, and we need to write this whole ETL. With Denodo, we can simplify this whole work to a few queries or setups in the databases and just make a few queries. This was actually easier, and it was faster to deliver a solution for a client instead of building a whole ETL pipeline or simply backfilling one database in another. Denodo simplifies your work and helps you ship code or ship solutions in a faster way. I really like the UI that Denodo has on the web app version. It was very simple and actually very beautiful to see. For a complicated program, it was very easy to understand how it works, even for someone who is just approaching the data engineering career or side of the programming language.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Cube completes my tasks very easily and takes less time, allowing me to deliver any project in a timely manner to our clients."
"The security provided by Cube has helped my organization by allowing us to use NATed IP on Cube to send outside the public IP while keeping the internal IP safe in our on-premise environment."
"NPS improved to approximately eight out of ten for our feature, and internally ticket handling times decreased, allowing reallocation of resources to higher-impact projects."
"Implementation was super smooth, and within two weeks we were up and running and the metrics were exposed in our app."
"Cube's caching mechanism impacts my database query loads and response times significantly."
"The most valuable features are query optimization and the single language independence from the sources we're using to catch data."
"If you have the business needs for data visualization which is a core technology that Denodo represents, then, I would say to go for it as the platform really works well."
"Denodo makes it easy to export data as a service or data link to other services."
"Technical support is fantastic as far as availability and advice."
"The most valuable feature is Data Catalogs."
"The most valuable feature of Denodo is its uniformity of self-site data access types, which allows it to connect to almost any storage technology and feed it transparently."
"It provides useful APIs and integrates with other systems."
"Denodo's capabilities offer a strong and intuitive solution for data access."

Cons

"Cube's interface can be challenging for non-technical users, needing clearer use-case examples to ease integration into workflows."
"There is no way to create a real template that is not exposed directly in the UI."
"Cube can be improved by enhancing data refresh over multiple tabs."
"Cube can be improved as it lacks some features."
"When it comes to the initial setup of Cube, I faced some challenges, including server issues when uploading data from local sources to the Unipi servers."
"I did not see any return on investment from Cube."
"The cache configuration is more complicated."
"While AI and ML integration is present, understanding its implementation better could be beneficial."
"With this product, the scalability of Denodo isn't fully up to the mark."
"In cases where there are multiple virtualizations—such as reading from one Denodo view that is virtualized, and from that view there's also virtualization, and another team is reading from that view—if multiple virtualizations happen with no caching in between, it becomes slow."
"Don't have too high expectations on data catalog functionality. It works, but, its current implementation is rather rudimental."
"The integration could use improvement, it's a lot of non-speed line processes that we have discovered, in the country. The configurations could use a lot more improvement."
"Denodo currently integrates with ChatGPT, but the ability to manage and utilize them directly within Denodo would be a significant improvement."
"The stability of the features can be improved."
