Secure, easy to use, and dashboard works well
I use this solution with VxRail I have found some of the key features of the solution are it can be configured similar to Cisco, it is secure, easy to use, and the dashboard works well. In some configurations, I am unable to use two switches as one and it causes some problems. In the future, I…

Cloud management has simplified branch deployments but pricing and support still need improvement
In terms of improvements for Meraki MS Switches, pricing is one area that could be enhanced. On the support front, the limited lifetime warranty is a concern. Aruba offers limited lifetime warranty, whereas Cisco requires a minimum license to function for hardware support or technical support. I think Cisco could improve by bundling technical support and hardware support together with the license. This approach is currently only applicable for EA customers. Standard license customers have to take additional hardware support as a separate SKU. I believe that bundling technical and hardware support with the cloud subscription itself would help customers choose a Meraki option. To make Meraki MS Switches closer to a rating of ten, Cisco could take additional features on the AI front. I am uncertain whether they will offer AI features at no cost. Self-healing networks is a new term that enterprises are looking forward to. All OEM management platforms now feature auto-remediation and auto-fixing capabilities. The issue is that even if AI is offered without cost, customers cannot get the benefits if they cannot afford the pricing. Enterprise customers are looking to optimize operational effort and operational capabilities. They use multiple tools apart from the OEM native dashboard, including the Cisco Meraki dashboard and Catalyst dashboard. However, they still want to have end-to-end visibility. For end-to-end visibility, they can go for Digital Twin capabilities through platforms such as IP Fabric, ManageEngine, SolarWinds, and Forward Networks. There are many NMS platforms that can be integrated, allowing them to manage complete operations. Cisco could add some additional capabilities into the same OEM dashboard so that customers can benefit from improved operational management.

Pros

"I have found some of the key features of the solution are it can be configured similar to Cisco, it is secure, easy to use, and the dashboard works well."
"This is a very easy solution to deploy."
"The technical support is quite good."
"Switches wise, I'm really happy with the product, it is more user-friendly than competitors and I can do everything myself, which is why I prefer it."
"The stability and workflow of Meraki MS Switches have most improved our network management."
"The most valuable feature is the ability to access devices from anywhere in the world through the cloud."
"This is a solution that can be considered for starting a small environment to a large environment because it is easy to scale and it gives them the inbuilt visibility that comes with the solution."
"Quality of Service is easy to deploy. The ease of deployment, in general, is valuable. It is easy to do port configuration and VLAN assignments."
"We are using the MS425 series. We like the ease of use, ease of administration, and central dashboard. Meraki also has fantastic documentation and community. With its central dashboard, we can deploy a generic configuration across hundreds of switches, rather than doing it in the old school way where an individual or a group of engineers would log onto each device via CLI, which takes a long time. So, everything is connected."

Cons

"In some configurations, I am unable to use two switches as one and it causes some problems."
"This product doesn't enable a local configuration without internet access."
"It would be great if the switch can identify the IP address connected to the network port. It seems most of the switches cannot identify the IP address. They can identify the MAC address but not the IP address."
"It would be great if they can get the price down for small businesses."
"In terms of MS I see some complications."
"There are some limitations in Meraki MS Switches. Other switches have more options, such as the Cisco Catalyst Switch."
"Management from a single dashboard is what I want to see from Meraki MS Switches."
"The lead time for delivery can be a challenge, and there is room for improvement in this area."
"The pricing is high and could be reduced."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The price of the solution is fair."
"The pricing is high and it is where we get the most pushback from customers."
"My company pays for Meraki MS Switches yearly. Pricing-wise, the product is relatively inexpensive."
"It would be better if they had a one-time purchase option instead of a subscription model."
"They can get the price down for small businesses. The way I bought it, I paid hardly anything, and I got all my licensing with it. The firewall appliance is around $900, and the switches are around $150. This is for the device itself. For licensing, I signed at $70 or something like that for the switch. Technical Support is included in this."
"This product is more than the competition, but you get what you pay for."
"The only drawback is the cost — that's what kills them."
"The Layer 3 switch is the most expensive switch."
"It is very expensive so I want it to be cheaper."
