Integration platform has simplified logistics workflows and has streamlined complex order handling
The best aspect is that it is very easy to use. The UI is very intuitive, and you can learn it very quickly because the basic principles are straightforward and easy to search. Frends has a great UI, but the UI is missing role-based permissions. You can filter your integrations by roles and add several users to roles, but in the UI, the functionality for this kind of management feature is not optimal. User management or user role management could be improved.
Integration capabilities excel and support for varied platforms enhances communication across backend systems
We mainly use REST APIs, and the solution's integration capabilities are excellent. It allows communication with a number of back-end providers and data consolidation. The flexibility to develop APIs for various platforms, from front-end applications to ATM machines, is valuable. Code changes and migration are straightforward, and it supports identity and access management integration.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The best aspect is that it is very easy to use."
"One of the benefits is the speed of creating something new. Second, it's replacing the old integration quite fast. Then it is like the visibility of the integration and the possibility to see what is happening in the integration."
"The user-friendly interface for constructing integration solutions is also a notable benefit."
"The product has valuable features for version control."
"The most valuable aspects for us are the security features, such as OAuth and access control, and it's a flexible tool that performs well."
"The speed and versatility in the implementation of APIs without writing a line of code in any programming language."
"Layer7 is absolutely stable; it impresses me as a product because it never goes down and always does what it is supposed to do."
"CA API Management powers the next generation of mobile and Internet of Things (IoT) applications by providing reliable connectivity between data, people, apps and devices."
"The most valuable feature is the security with its out-of-the-box policies."
"Layer7 API Management is most valued for its drag-and-drop functionalities, the available policy options, and the excellent security features."
"The Gateway is most important because it is our strategic front door into the company for all APIs."
"The most valuable feature was the gateway because it has a good dashboard which shows all the hits, misses, and issues, how often you are viewing, what was the response time, etc. The gateway was very easy to deploy."

Cons

"One of the primary areas for improvement is a more mobile-friendly interface for the control center."
"Logging should be better."
"It is a new application and lacks some essential features compared to competitors."
"Another enhancement includes the monitoring part. It would be nice to have some sort of maybe mobile app on which we can see how integrations are running if there are some problems, and getting those alerts on the mobile would be really nice."
"I would like to see more documentation. The current documentation is there, but we do not find it very useful."
"I see a lot in the developer portal. It's not that flexible the way we want it to be, so it's kind of out of the box and we can only do the standard features that they have."
"There are old algorithms that the tool does not support - and it shouldn't, in my opinion. But sometimes customers need old algorithms, from old use cases and old applications, migrated to the platform. At those times, there are hiccups that happen."
"We are looking for improvements related to integration. We want to see them add integration tools to the CA bundle. That would be helpful."
"I would like to be able to see the publisher role be able to be organized within organizations, so somebody within that role can only manipulate their particular policies."
"The entire lifecycle management approach needs improvement: from the API management, development, deployment, some of the settings around the quotas, and some security policy applications, etc. for the APIs. We found the Apigee platform a lot more robust in that area."
"The UI is very dated."
"The policy manager UI shows signs of aging, but it is not a must."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Recent changes in their pricing have removed this benefit, moving towards process-specific pricing."
"The pricing is quite fair."
"It has a reasonable pricing model by instance."
"I think it's competitive. It's not that expensive when you compare CA with the Oracle product."
"Our customers found the product’s cost a little higher. They are looking for open-source solutions."
"Purchase 4.0 now and wait until they flush out the 4.1 problems."
"The product is moderately priced."
"Layer7 API Management is cheaper than Apigee."
"The price of Layer7 API Management is reasonable compared to Apigee."
"I feel that it is costly for medium-sized companies."
