Comprehensive cloud security with robust threat protection and VPN capabilities
Hillstone CloudEdge is compatible with all the mainstream public cloud providers, such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, and Alibaba Cloud. This solution has a unified OS system for security products, ensuring that the virtual firewall has similar features to the on-premise solutions. Important features include a VPN, VTech VPN, SSL VPN, QoS, antivirus, threat protection, and sandbox capabilities.

Rapid VPN setup has connected offices in minutes and brings live insights for proactive issue control
What I appreciate the most about Netgate pfSense is the ease and straightforward nature of the platform. I can set up a new office in less than 10 minutes. The benefits of using Netgate pfSense are that I can set up VPNs in less than two to three minutes, and then just deploy the file across my networks, where everybody would be connected in less than an hour. The dashboards of Netgate pfSense bring all the necessary information that I need at a glance, and it is actually a live update every three to five seconds. It is spotless, and I have been able to catch issues before they hit operations.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"I would recommend this product to any business that wants to protect its cloud environment, cloud server, or on-premises virtual servers."
"The solution is very easy to download and configure. The initial setup was very easy. The technical support is very good."
"I'd rate the solution nine out of ten."
"Hillstone CloudEdge is compatible with all the mainstream public cloud providers, such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, and Alibaba Cloud."
"OpenVPN, IPsec, DHCP, and DNS are the most valuable features."
"The solution's most valuable features are its ease of use and versatility."
"My opinion about pfSense's pricing is good."
"I like the versatility of pfSense. Compared to other products I have used for home and small businesses, this is the easiest to understand."
"System is totally free; I spent two days to implement it, used old workstations that were prepared to scrap, and with some cheap hardware with two NICs you will get a professional firewall/router."
"The visibility in pfSense helps optimize performance."
"PfSense is relatively easy to set up and just runs. It's easy to use."
"The most valuable features are the alerting and local monitoring."

Cons

"There is room for improvement in AI features, particularly for zero-day attacks and providing maintenance guidance."
"The solution needs more granular level reporting on system usage."
"I would like to see more active updates coming out of the developers."
"The documentation doesn't align with what I'm seeing on the console."
"I should have phone support for a certain period, even at the lower price point."
"The solution could be more user-friendly, and the graphical interface needs some work so that someone without an IT background can use the application. I would like the ability to manage the on-premise appliance from the cloud. When I'm not in the office, it would be great to connect to the pfSense server and administer the network remotely."
"If you want to take advantage of all of the solution's options, you need to have a bit of a technical background. It's not for a layperson."
"The learning curve is a little long."
"Perhaps the documentation is not clear and because it is supported in the community there is no basic documentation."
"Not very stable."

Pricing and Cost Advice

Information not available
"pfSense is a free solution."
"Netgate pfSense is competitively priced."
"pfSense's pricing or licensing model is very affordable."
"We are using its Community Edition, which is free. My company is a government school, and we don't have much budget."
"It is an open source solution. Therefore, the price is good."
"I would say pfSense is competitively priced. It isn't the cheapest hardware, but I've never had a problem with it. It is far cheaper than big brand names like FortiGate and Cisco while delivering a feature set that's nearly the same across the entire list. The only places it falls short are esoteric features that almost nobody needs."
"I am using the community version of the solution and it is priced well. There is a cost of learning how to use the solution, if it was free it would be better."
"It's highly cost-effective for both the average consumer and business users."
