Easy to setup, good support and stable product
When we started, we used Acronis for both cloud and on-premises backups. Protege was a reliable solution, and the cloud-focused approach is well-suited for our current needs. If you require both cloud and on-premises backup capabilities, Acronis is a more comprehensive solution. For solely cloud-based backups, Protege is a solid option.

Active data protection has ensured high availability and supports seamless reporting workloads
In my opinion, Active Data Guard is the most valuable feature. We use the secondary side for reporting purposes, which reduces the load on the primary side. Oracle Data Guard includes functions such as automatic failover, but we use manual managed failover. After some months, we converted our primary to secondary and secondary to primary. Oracle Data Guard is effective in minimizing data loss and provides a good solution for that. The main benefits of Oracle Data Guard include minimizing data loss during a production failure. It is used for maximum availability when paired with Oracle RAC, so if any disruption occurs, we have an alternative Data Guard to convert our load to the disaster recovery site. Oracle Data Guard maintains a high level of data integrity by using archive logs. When a transaction happens, redo logs create archive logs, which are then applied on the disaster recovery side, ensuring that both databases are synchronized.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Since it is on the cloud, it is a very stable solution."
"The most valuable features are the backup and restore. With this in place along with the clustering, the database is safe from hacking, hardware failure, power failures, and system crashes."
"The solution can scale as needed."
"It is not a cheap product, but if you look at the price, features, availability, scalability, and maturity, it is a very good product."
"I think for our company, the way we use it, we are very happy with it and the end customer is very happy with it."
"I would recommend that every implementation that goes to the production environment must be done together with Oracle Data Guard."
"I have had great experiences with Oracle's technical support; Oracle has the best support and a great knowledge center with a lot of accessible material for users and administrators."
"Developers can test their code thoroughly before installing it into production and know precisely how it will perform."
"The solution is quite stable, as we haven't experienced any bugs, glitches, or crashes, and we find it to be quite reliable."

Cons

"One area for improvement would be expanding its capabilities beyond Azure-specific backups."
"Limited functionality to exclude any schema/table from replication would be helpful."
"We sometimes had scalability issues with read only."
"There is an issue with their application on ODG. There were a lot of edits in the logs. Sometimes, we only get a little cue from the Data Guard Broker logs if there's an issue."
"When you open up SR Oracle has a list of things which they ask for. Being an end customer, when we open SR, we give as much information as we want and again the support person comes into the picture, and without reading what we have put through, they just ask the same question over and over."
"Oracle is not easy to implement, and you cannot find clear documentation on the internet or, unfortunately, on the Oracle website."
"One thing that can be improved is the GUI. It would be good to have a very nice GUI to easily configure and administer, providing different presentations to the database administrator. The feature that can be included is the integration with third-party monitoring systems, that is, monitoring systems from other vendors, not only from Oracle."
"It's a master of making money! If you want to have everything automated and done smoothly, you have to add additional licenses."
"It is a very useful administrative IT tool. It saves on costs."
