It maps to our data format and then we insert it to the mainframe.
We want to see more API support from Transformation Extender. Right now, there is a lack of API support. It has an API that we always use; we use Java to call the Extender, the maps, with the external API. That API is limited. It's not mature. That's where I'm looking for improvements.

Reporting has become streamlined for year-end data checks but integration still needs improvement
When I talk about SQL Server, I am working with SSIS, the data integration tool. I am not entirely sure if I use SSIS as a library of transformations or if I personally work with an extensive library of transformations. I have integrated SSIS with SQL Server Management Studio, and I am very satisfied with the integration as it is integrated well. I am not using the debugging feature in SSIS because the developers would be the ones that would actually utilize it. I have noticed that in 2022, AI functionality has actually been implemented already. I would rate this review overall at a 7.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Every single feature of this product is unique, highly flexible, and scalable for the user's needs."
"This is a nice tool which converts one format of data to another format."
"The most valuable features are the multiple capabilities that it provides."
"Any-to-any transformations are possible with this product."
"This is one of the best analytic tools for a person or enterprise."
"It's already very user-friendly and has a good dashboard."
"SSIS' best feature is SFTP connectivity."
"I have found its most valuable features to be its package management capabilities and the flexibility it offers in designing workflows."
"It has the ability to be deployed into the cloud through Data Factory, and run completely as a software as a service in the cloud."
"It is also easy to learn and user-friendly. Microsoft is also good in terms of technical support. They have built a large community all over the world."
"There is a huge community to find the tutorials you need."
"The return on investment has been very high; the tool has made us tremendously more efficient and saved us a significant amount of money, though I cannot put an exact figure on it."

Cons

"Things are working fine, except for the upgrade part. We are having some struggles with upgrading the product."
"We want to see more API support from Transformation Extender. Right now, there is a lack of API support."
"One thing missing is marketing and awareness among the industry to use this product."
"Readability of mapping rules should be improved."
"We'd like more integration capabilities."
"The solution should offer more information online for users of SSIS."
"We have issues with SSIS connectors while extracting data from Excel sources."
"There was also not enough instructions from Microsoft in regards to this application or this technology, which can easily be improved upon."
"It is an easy solution but needs some improvement. The creation of the measure in the DAC's model could be improved."
"I come from a coding background and this tool is graphically based. Sometimes I think it's cumbersome to do mapping graphically. If there was a way to provide a simple script, it would be helpful and make it easier to use."
"It hangs a lot of the time."
"I would like to see more features in terms of the integration with Azure Data Factory."

Pricing and Cost Advice

Information not available
"The solution is available at a lesser price than that of Informatica."
"Based on my experience and understanding, Talend comes out to be a little bit expensive as compared to SSIS. The average cost of having Talend with Talend Management Console is around 72K per region, which is much higher than SSIS. SSIS works very well with Microsoft technologies, and if you have Microsoft technologies, it is not really expensive to have SSIS. If you have SQL Server, SSIS is free."
"Depending on the arrangement that a certain company has with Microsoft, it may supply the permanent license that is included in the SQL server license, or it may be a time-bound license if it is a partner license or other enterprise license."
"It would be beneficial if the solution had a less costly cloud offering."
"This solution is a free of charge addition to our SQL licence. However, the only way this tool can be utilized is as a feature of the SQL licence, which may make it unattractive to organizations who don't wish to purchase the wider-ranging licence."
"SSIS is fairly well-priced - I would rate it at four out of five."
"All of my clients have this product included as part of their Microsoft license."
"It comes bundled with other solutions, which makes it difficult to get the price on the specific product."
