Fast data recovery for large scale datasets
The Infiniguard (dedicated disc storage), offers a petabyte of storage space for on-site disc storage for backups. Because of this, we were able to get rid of our tapes. Essentially, it replaced our tape backups. We're definitely going to be buying another INFINIDAT array. We do have another location that is going to be needing a new array sometime soon, so we'll be buying another one. The beautiful thing about them is that you can set them up to replicate for disaster recovery between the two of them and set up some nice replication jobs, site to site, for automatic database replication.

Backup operations have become reliable and reporting now simplifies hybrid cloud protection
Veeam Data Platform has Veeam Enterprise Manager as well as Veeam ONE as valuable features, which allow us to generate various kinds of reports that are required for the customer. Instant VM Recovery is a good feature of the high-speed recovery features in Veeam Data Platform, and Continuous Data Protection (CDP) is also a good feature. Ransomware protection is a good feature added in Veeam Data Platform from version 12 onwards, and the ability to create immutable repositories is also a good feature in Veeam. The analytics part of Veeam Data Platform is a good solution because I have worked on various backup technologies such as EMC NetWorker and NetBackup. However, I have not used the analytical parts currently but will check it out. Streamlining processes as well as saving money are benefits that Veeam Data Platform provides for the end user, as it allows for application-aware backups and database backups without the need for various kinds of licenses that other backup software requires. Veeam offers socket-based licenses, instance-based licenses, and capacity-based licenses, which is a great feature.

Pros

"Essentially, it replaced our tape backups."
"Overall, this solution has been very cost-effective for us."
"The most valuable feature of Veeam Backup & Replication is that we can back up in-house and multiple cloud providers' storage."
"The solution provides lots of reporting and visualization of how much data has been transferred."
"Veeam Backup is very user-friendly; it's integrated with many deduplication software solutions, including Dell software, and it's simply very good software for backup purposes."
"The most valuable feature of Veeam Backup Replication is application awareness. Additionally, the solution is user-friendly and it has been working very well."
"The features that I have found most valuable are its ease of management, it is not complicated, it is very reliable, has good support and a lot of knowledge on the market for integrators."
"The most valuable features of the solution are its ease of deployment, its many interesting functions, and its good performance for both backup and restoration."
"One of the standout features of Veeam Backup & Replication is its exceptional restore capability, enabling users to recover their data seamlessly. Another valuable functionality is the automated verification of backup restorations, made possible through the Sure Backup feature. The software boasts numerous other noteworthy features that offer immense value, including the NAS backup feature."
"Saves IT operations a lot of time and frustration, and the ROI for our CFO is tremendous whereas we did not have data deduplication on our previous backup product, unless licensed at a cost higher per GB than buying storage."

Cons

"I would like to see more improvement in the GUI."
"I would like to see more improvement in the GUI; for example, better graphs and statistics so that you have a better vision of what exactly you have stored."
"Apart from security improvements, enhancing compatibility with various platforms and addressing limitations related to integration and verification would be beneficial."
"The solution requires a lot of bandwidth because our servers are heavy."
"We try to compare Veeam with other solutions because we are the operations. Then we can give the answers for improvement which is the specific additional system features that other solutions provide."
"The escalation from first, second to third tier is sometimes very long-lasting, but the resolve rate is quite high."
"When in a domain, the virus can easily attack the Veeam server, something which happened to us."
"With Veeam v7 in conjunction with vSphere 5.5 using vSphere Flash Read Cache (vFRC), I started seeing issues with Veeam backups either failing or VM Snapshots constantly needing consolidation."
"The price could be optimized, and I am still waiting for support for physical hardware. However, it is currently easy to back up and restore environments with this software."
"Client/agent for non-virtualized servers: This can be improved by integrating them in the same way as the virtual servers and integrating them into the same backup jobs."

Pricing and Cost Advice

Information not available
"If you have Exchange, Oracle, SQL, or a supported SAN, then I suggest getting at least an Enterprise edition. It’ll pay for itself in no time."
"It is always nice to get products cheaper. Technically, it saves you a lot of money. If you wanted to buy the same functionality out of vSphere, you would spend thousands to essentially get the same functionality."
"Our licensing cost is $200 a year."
"We are fine with its pricing policy."
"It is an affordable solution."
"On a scale from one to ten, where one is expensive and ten is cheap, I rate the solution's pricing a nine out of ten."
"Veeam ONE is offered at a good price."
"It is more cost-effective than some of the other solutions, but a lot of that comes down to the fact that we're a reseller. So, depending upon the deal, we do negotiate different price points for different customers. The price varies depending upon the size of the customer, the size of the deal, and the discounts we can negotiate."
