Oracle's support is not that good for JD Edwards EnterpriseOne. Their support is expensive, and I don't think you're getting your bang for your buck. For the cloud product, they do give you support, but everything is online and you might not get somebody. I would give Oracle's support for JD Edwards EnterpriseOne about a 6.5 on a scale of one to 10.

Less expensive than some competing solutions, but it's hard to handle logistics management at scale
We're having problems with logistics and warehouse management, and we don't know if we have the right module from Penta. When shipments come into our warehouse, they have to plug it into the Penta system and find the right place to store them. They have to go through the same process on the way out. Our production department has to do the same thing each time to prepare the material for production and get the goods out of the store. It takes a lot of time. I don't know if there are any automated solutions for it. We also do internal manufacturing orders from the German branch of our company. We send an order to the manufacturing department for every car and they have to enter each individual order into the system. The production manager spends so much time organizing this task.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"JD Edwards EnterpriseOne is very scalable. It is suitable for any business size, from retail to manufacturing, and can grow with any business."
"The support information that you can find on the Oracle sites, the support sites, is huge and if I have a problem, then in 80% of the cases, I can find a solution somewhere on the support side of Oracle before I have to lock a service request with the Oracle support unit."
"The customers have improved many of their business processes by using this product, and they have been profitable in the long run."
"The interface is very user-friendly."
"It is user friendly and an easy tool for development."
"Financial reports are clearer and better aligned with business expectations."
"We do a straight forward, simple plug and play installation so there are no problems technically now."
"The solution is very easy to set up."
"Penta offers a single way to solve our problems rather than building a new ERP system in the company."
"I believe Penta costs less than SAP"

Cons

"It does not submit the inquiry as requested. We have to close the application and restart the computer."
"Oracle's support is not that good for JD Edwards EnterpriseOne. Their support is expensive, and I don't think you're getting your bang for your buck."
"JD Edwards EnterpriseOne could improve the speed because sometimes it takes time to load into the environment. This is typical when the ESU patch packages are used."
"The solution could be easier to implement. However, the complexity was in our internal processes meeting our country's requirements. Every country has a slightly different process, taxation, and rules. That was the difficult part, not the solution itself. I expect our experience would have been more or less the same with any ERP, such as SAP, Navision, or Dynamics."
"The warehouse and logistic systems need improvement."
"The implementation procedure could be simplified."
"While it is easy to handle, there is room for improvement compared to more sophisticated ERP systems."
"Something that could be included is a supply chain management system. That's what we're looking for."
"However, the production guys tell me that Penta is not suitable for mass production. If we build a hundred cars per day or more, then we'll have problems. At the same time, I can't say whether the issue is Penta or our process. In other words, maybe we have too many manual projects in it."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"There is an annual license for this solution."
"In terms of price, it is not on the high end."
"I rate the tool's pricing a three out of ten."
"EnterpriseOne is cost-effective for large enterprises."
"The solution's pricing depends on the deal and the number of users."
"The cost depends on the number of users and the modules required."
"The licensing is for mid-market businesses, where it is cheaper than Oracle Cloud, EBS, or SAP."
"More transparent pricing of the software is needed."
