Responsive support, fair pricing, and good performance
It's going very well. We are happy with its capabilities. The performance is good overall. We like that we can change the connection if you don't like the speed, for example, is limited. You can find the right one to get the performance you require. It is easy to set up. It is stable. Technical support has been helpful and responsive. Pricing is fair. It was not too expensive.

Secure remote access has protected critical data and now simplifies role-based user management
An area for improvement is the pricing model. The concurrent user licenses get expensive pretty quickly as your organization grows, so more flexible pricing options would be a huge plus. Another area is configurational disconnect. While the admin web UI handles about 90% of what you need, the moment you have to do deep, advanced routing customization, you still have to drop back to the command line interface to make those changes. It would be great to see those deeper configurations completely integrated into the web portal. Lastly, it would be awesome to see native support for newer, lighter protocols through WireGuard built straight into the platform alongside standard OpenVPN for better performance efficiency.

"Overall, OpenVPN Access Server has positively impacted our organization by giving us a highly reliable, stable environment for remote work."
"Overall, my best feature of OpenVPN Access Server is the user management, which is very nice because OpenVPN can be quite painful and not very visible."

Cons

"The scalability could be a bit better."
"I find that connection speed with OpenVPN Access Server loses in comparison to WireGuard, which is very fast."
"I think right now the GUI part of it is locked out behind the pay wall. It could use something that gives it a very basic, minimal, graphic interface for logging in, for the community version. That would probably be a good step forward."
"The interface could be a little bit better in future iterations."
"This solution should improve the connection speed and the user interface. The stability of this solution should be improved as well."
"OpenVPN does not have the ability to selectively terminate connections."
"There was one annoying feature where we had to disable and enable the user."
"The stability of the solution could improve."
"My impression of the connection speed using OpenVPN Access Server is that, compared to other VPN solutions, OpenVPN Access Server is a little bit slow, but it is very safe and always connects."
