Enforces dynamic policies and blocks risky behaviors to safeguard sensitive data
The fidelity of the signal in Microsoft Defender for Cloud Apps has been a challenge in some areas. There have been instances where the alerts generated have been false positives. A lot of work has to go into scoping and tuning the policies so that actual value can be achieved, especially when not doing outright blocks. When monitoring is the approach, it can be overwhelming for security teams to review all of the alerts and determine which ones require action. When a legitimate alert is found that requires action, the tools are available to take that direction, but it can take considerable time to determine if an alert is real or not, and that represents a problem. There is uncertainty about how well Microsoft is keeping up with the changing landscape of threats, as new artificial intelligence services and software as a service applications appear every day.

Experience with offsite backup enhances data integrity and reduces on-premise reliance
One of the features of Veritas Alta SaaS Protection that customers are looking for is immutability. This is the most important feature. With the cloud, Veritas Alta SaaS Protection is actually in the cloud, which means they have unlimited space to do their backups. They can expand on a need-to-need basis. The automated recovery feature of Veritas Alta SaaS Protection makes the recovery much easier, as opposed to earlier methods where we were using scripts to do the restore. Currently, it's automated so you just do a click. You select the feature in a graphical interface, making it easy to use even for a newbie.

Pros

"The raw logs that come directly from Microsoft Defender for Cloud Apps contain all the data I need, and the ability to track activities happening on cloud applications and the alerts provided is an interesting aspect."

"From what I've seen, it's a good product."
"Better logging allows us to find problems and take appropriate steps to lock them out."
"The compliance capabilities of Microsoft Defender for Cloud Apps are quite extensive."
"On-demand scanning is the most valuable feature. In addition, it's a fairly fluid product. It syncs back to the cloud and provides metrics. It's pretty intelligent."
"After creating the policy you can be assured that a user's data is being protected."
"The discovery function and the discovery catalog are really valuable, and the ability to sanction unsanctioned apps using Secure Score benchmarking, included in Cloud, enhances the organization by helping to manage and control cloud app usage effectively."
"he most valuable feature is that it's not so intrusive with computer resources."
"What I like most about Veritas SaaS Backup is that it is easy to work on and has compatible features."
"It's a good solution. It's pretty stable."
"The most valuable features are the ease of administration and the ease of configuration."
"Some of the tool's best features include an enhanced dashboard and strong security features compared to native Veritas. Our environment is entirely automated."
"It's very comprehensive. It's one of the first brands to appear in its field."
"Veritas is loaded with features because the appliance is ready to integrate with the cloud in cases where the customers have a hybrid or cloud environment."
"It offers general business continuity and disaster recovery for the industry."

Cons

"This service would be better if it had a separate license, only for this service, that could be used to track usage."
"Since implementing this solution, we have had more support calls regarding false positives."
"There have been instances where the alerts generated have been false positives."
"Microsoft Defender for Cloud Apps’s technical support services needs improvement."
"The integration with macOS operating systems needs to be better."
"The insights could be improved, especially in reporting."
"There are some features, such as user navigation content filtering, that are disabled by default, and it probably makes sense to enable them by default."
"We would like to get more information from the endpoint. I don't get enough detailed information right now on why something failed. There is not enough visibility."
"Technical support can be improved."
"An area for improvement is the product's performance, especially how long it takes to do a job."
"The technical team wasn't very helpful."
"Other people will prefer this solution because they're used to it. However, from my point of view, you have more breaks, more failures on it than you will with Commvault."
"The go-between is a Veritas partner, so the customer support was not that good. The solution is fine except when there is a purchasing crisis where you have to remake the ecosystem. It causes a lot of issues. The support was a problem, but we're okay with it as long as we have someone to communicate with."
"Licensing has been a struggle. It went from bronze, silver to gold. Licensing needs more sophistication. It has features that are sold as separate add-ons."
"The solution does lack a lot of features, and we're considering switching."
"The usability of the solution isn't the best."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"It has pretty good pricing."
"Microsoft offers bundle discounts and a pay-as-you-go option."
"The pricing is fair."
"It is a little bit expensive. When you want to have the complete package with Office 365, Defender, and everything else, it is expensive."
"The product's pricing seems fair."
"We are an MST and we do not pay for the solution. However, the price of the solution could be better."
"Where we are right now, this is an acceptable pricing. I would like to see more transparency given to the end user. The end user given to us is via the cloud service provider. There are different programs and license models. Some include this, and some include that. It is all over the place. There can be a little more consistency or simplification in the pricing so that your parts list is not ten pages long, and you are not trying to determine, "If I have an E3, does this cover that?", or "Do I need to pay separately for the license?" Simplification would probably be better."
"This product is not expensive."
"The program is quite expensive."
"This solution is not cheap and not expensive but priced in the mid-range."
"SaaS Backup isn't the most expensive solution."
"The tool is expensive compared to Veeam."
"I would rate this solution's pricing as five out of five."
