Has significantly improved document-driven workflows and reduced processing time across finance and HR functions
Automation Anywhere has evolved significantly and upgraded itself to provide agentic AI and AI-based automation solutions for document automation. The product has matured considerably over time. We can create workflows that can call an API. We can include prompts in particular workflows for ChatGPT-related functions, connecting to an LLM and RAG to perform tasks. For document automation, modern features are available to train documents, ensuring high accuracy and repeatability over time. The system is very easy to use. I recently completed a course in document automation, typically designed for people involved in coding and technical aspects. Though I understand coding comprehensively, I don't do actual coding. The course was very accessible. Currently, extensive coding isn't necessary due to the hybrid model incorporating GenAI aspects, low-code, no-code capabilities, APIs, and numerous pre-built objects in Automation Anywhere. The features include GenAI-driven prompting methods and workflow creation capabilities. In these workflows, we can create decision boxes and call APIs without coding. We simply pull objects, drop them, connect them, and add minimal coding when needed. The most crucial aspect isn't coding but rather sizing the automation and fleshing out the details. Automation Co-pilot takes notes and performs automated analysis. It can extract details from videos, summarize conversations, and provide detailed information. During calls, it identifies instructions and performs tasks such as preparing reports and reconciliation. Automation Anywhere can also connect with Microsoft Co-pilot. Through Co-pilot, real-time operations can be executed, allowing direct interaction between vendors and automation through this component.

Frees up employee time but can't run when computer system is locked
Something that could be improved is that this solution can't run when the computer is locked, which meant we had to implement it in our own on-prem server as it never auto-locks. It would be better if, when we have scheduled a scenario, it would log into the system automatically.

Automation has transformed document processing and frees teams to focus on higher‑value analysis
Sometimes, we encounter system errors that could be resolved via support, but connection issues are more frequent in enterprise applications. However, these can usually be solved by raising tickets if you are part of an enterprise, though we are not, which makes it somewhat challenging. It is vital to ensure the connections of UiPath Platform are maintained because it has a larger community. If UiPath Platform website included more features and documentation accessible easily, it would greatly enhance the experience. Instead of continually needing to raise support tickets, having a documentation hub where details can just be entered to retrieve required documents would be extremely beneficial.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"For a tool that can be fun to use and make people's job better on day one, that is the most valuable feature."
"The integrations of Automation Anywhere with the mainframe application for banking companies are among the most valuable features... we were able to create very good solutions integrated with that kind of platform using Automation Anywhere."
"Scalability is one of the best things about most of the RPA bots. Once you create one, scalability is just about multiplying them."
"Our organization used to have a process which took five business days to do: our monthly pricing update. This was a very manual process. Our very first bot built was to automate this process. Now, the bot runs in the background every month and the process takes less than a day to run."
"AA is a global market leader and the best RPA software to go with, in all aspects."
"The primary use case is automation of processes for people services, such as data management of the employees, and financial processes, like reporting, financial reporting, and month-end closing activities."
"The best part about Automation Anywhere is the easy to use UI. It's very user-friendly. You have everything that you want in front of your eyes. You just have to drag and drop, then build your logic accordingly."
"The ability to automate repetetive tasks and processing that should not require human intervention."
"NTT-AT WinActor has allowed our employees to focus on other things rather than the repetitive tasks that can now be given to the robot."
"The tool's most valuable feature is data import. The OCR feature helps to recognize the data. It can recognize screen and document numbers well."
"This software is very smart - it can decide from a picture if we like that condition, and then the robot will do that action."
"The code-free automation engine of UiPath Platform saves considerable time by eliminating human intervention, and all validations and data fetching are handled by UiPath Platform, removing the need for manual automation."
"UiPath's most valuable features are its UI automation activities like scraping and manipulating data. We need to scrape the data before we can manipulate it or save it in another application. I think that part is very valuable and important."
"UiPath Platform scales with the growing needs of our organization."
"The most valuable features of this solution are that it is powerful and easy to use."
"Overall, this solution is awesome."
"Once we deploy the automation into the production, our manpower has been reduced so there are only one or two people needed for the backup, and the rest will be taken care of by the automation itself, so there has been a drastic reduction in our workforce."
"In our organization, UiPath is the number one RPA tool, and being close to the industry as a developer, I do feel like it's the preferred tool, at least where I'm based in Australia."
"The most valuable feature is definitely the document understanding."

Cons

"Automation Anywhere risks falling behind by focusing solely on Robotic Process Automation when competitors offer more versatile and adaptable solutions that integrate AI for a more intelligent automation experience."
"We face issues with Excel file creation. I’m trying to create a file in Excel .xls, it is getting corrupted."
"MetaBot still needs to be optimized, though Version 11.3 did integrate all the commands into it. We are not able to see all the lines of code which are executed in MetaBot."
"There is a limitation with Automation Anywhere where if you want to build your own packages and deploy them, it is very difficult."
"Some of the biggest improvements they can make are with the interface. It can be improved in terms of usability or searching for something. For example, icons are hard to find. Typically, you jump into the search box, but being able to go in and find things quickly with the eye could be very valuable."
"Anything that can be done to increase the stability from a system standpoint in regards to large-scale systems, which are being used by a number of applications, e.g., Salesforce or Workday."
"Automation Anywhere should improve its OCR capabilities."
"The control room itself is easy to use. One area that could potentially be improved is adding additional widget capability within the main dashboard in the control room itself."
"Something that could be improved is that this solution can't run when the computer is locked, which meant we had to implement it in our own on-prem server as it never auto-locks."
"The OCR has issues recognizing handwritten data."
"The setting up of the cloud was a little bit confusing for us. We expected someone to walk us through that process and we just did it ourselves and weren't sure if we were doing it right."
"I would like to see a UiPath user group to discuss issues."
"For data scraping, the websites which have iframes are not extracting properly."
"They should add chatbots functionality for Microsoft Teams and not only for Slack."
"Some of the APA integrations are complicated and have room for improvement."
"Better alignment of workflows for development is needed."
"UiPath is experiencing some growing pains in their support at the moment (some of this is due to the rapid progress of the tool, I suspect). From our timezone (GMT+10), support expertise has always been a bit of an inconvenience, with the best staff only coming online after our work hours."
"To improve UiPath Platform, I suggest trying to make it more end-user-friendly, as I have seen instances where it is overly technical and requires a bit of a technical background, whereas some of our citizen developers are not coming from a tech background."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"In the Indian market, I feel that for mid-size companies, such as ourselves, that having multiple bots costs a lot. If Automation Anywhere wants to expand in the Indian market, they will need to look at their pricing."
"The licensing cost of Automation Anywhere is better than UiPath and Blue Prism."
"It's cheapest among the competition, although bargaining is a must."
"The cost for scalability is much cheaper than developing a new system."
"We have established a CoE and we take our bot opportunities based on their ROIs. The best ROI opportunity goes to development first. Our ROI opportunities are compliance, profitable growth, productivity enhancements, productivity gains, number of hours the productivity saved, and resources not available that the work can be done by the bot. However, the single most important criteria that we use to measure ROI is how much time does the bot cut down from an analyst's work, as this has the best ROI. E.g., if an analyst is spending a 100 hours of work that a bot can do in one hour, we calculate the 99 hours saved as ROI."
"The pricing model can be a bit more flexible."
"The cost of Automation Anywhere is high in Turkey due to the weak economy."
"It costs up to $1,200 per license."
"We pay yearly for the agent who runs the processes, plus an additional fee for maintenance costs."
"We have 200 licenses for bots in production and pay between $200,000 and $300,000 per year currently."
"License costs are high, but the setup is really quick and does not demand a lot of resources involved."
"The main reason we went ahead with UiPath was the pricing... the pricing of the paid version was not that high. It's low- to mid-level pricing."
"Comparatively, UiPath's pricing is higher than other tools."
"We license the product on a yearly basis and it costs us around $80,000."
"The price of UiPath is too high."
"The pricing for UiPath is reasonable."
"The main thing that could be improved is the cost. I have worked with other tools and the licensing cost of UiPath is slightly higher than the others."
