Collaboration has transformed how our teams work and Copilot now drives faster daily decisions
The interface for the security and compliance center could be simplified. It changes frequently, which can make it somewhat difficult for admins to stay up-to-date on where specific settings are located. The compliance center modification or improvement of Office 365 needs to be introduced. The rest of the features feel acceptable to me. The reason it is not a ten is because of the complexity of managing the vast array of admin settings, which requires a specialized IT team. Even though it meets industry standards for decent security compliance such as SOC and HIPAA, the complexity of managing the admin settings needs to improve.

Self-hosted file sync tool used to deploy custom web UIs.
I think it’s probably the best self-hosted file sync tool on the market. It’s a full web application platform, an indispensable tool for a business of any size that needs to deploy any kind of custom web UI. If you build an ownCloud app, you’ve got authentication, storage, security, caching, and database layers already fully baked for you. You just need to build your UI and custom logic. Your app doesn’t even need to interact with files, sync, or interact with other ownCloud features. Any web UI can be included without ownCloud. It can even be a portal to web interfaces of other applications within a business using the external app to display external sites within ownCloud. This is the case as long as that site allows itself to be displayed within a frame.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"I find Office 365 valuable because it is compatible across all companies, which is essential for our organization, and the flexibility to adjust subscriptions with headcount changes is an advantage for cost management."
"We have been using Office 365 for more than a year right now, and it has been predominantly incorporated with good results."
"If we compare it to competitor products out there, Office 365 stands out for the end customer side."
"The good thing is they auto-recover and auto-save, so when corruption happens, we can retrieve the latest version templates from Word, Excel, or PowerPoint."
"Office 365 is a good tool for daily tasks and collaborative activities, mainly using Microsoft SharePoint which integrates with other tools to facilitate collaboration such as file sharing among colleagues."
"Office 365 overall is cost-effective for us; we use the Enterprise E5 version of it, which gives us our Office license, all Windows licenses, and a whole bunch of tools, including Power BI, the whole lot."
"Office 365 brings a very strong return on investment through time savings and different efficiencies."
"The best features with Office 365 include the ability to access email anywhere since it's not an on-premises server, it's in the cloud, which saves us on storage and exchange administration, making it a significant change going from on-premises, which we were for the longest time, to the cloud, so it's definitely a benefit."
"I think it’s probably the best self-hosted file sync tool on the market."

Cons

"Sometimes the synchronization between the desktop and online is a little bit slow."
"One issue I face is that as the file size gets bigger, it takes more time to work through it."
"From a performance point of view, Office 365 can be too slow, especially when used intensively, and it consumes too much memory, causing other applications to underperform."
"The cost is not very reasonable; the pricing could be more flexible, and features needed are sometimes only available at higher subscription levels not suited for our company size."
"To be very honest, we use Cute FTP to transfer most files, and if they had FTP portals which they could guarantee were secure, that would be a great help."
"The language feature in Copilot for Arabic specifically needs more machine learning enhancement, and the tables in Microsoft Word need to be more flexible, similar to those in Microsoft Excel."
"Office 365 could be improved in areas such as their collaboration functionality."
"Task management needs to improve."
"Even with fast disks, it still takes a fair bit of time to write most schema changes to multi-GB tables."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The price of Office 365 is very expensive."
"Most of the time, we purchase Microsoft Exchange licenses, which are less expensive and provide only an email platform and 50 gigabytes of email storage for free."
"Licensing fees are paid on a monthly basis, or we prepay them."
"For the moment, we are paying on a monthly basis because we are still adapting the support and how we want to proceed. I think we will move to paying for the annual license."
"I would rate the solution 3 out of 5 for the price. I think Microsoft presents a good solution concerning the price."
"The pricing is good for all the features that we receive, e.g., Skype for Business."
"The pricing is not really high, but one can get the software with the license key for free."
"Licensing, billing, and accounting are available from the management interface."
