Automated lifecycle management has cut onboarding times and now drives secure, clean access
Although I am a fan of Okta Platform overall, there are areas where it could improve security outcomes and reduce admin friction. My top improvement areas include the system log and analytics upgrade, which are great for point troubleshooting, but trending and root cause analysis across large tenants still require exporting to SIEM. Verbose queries and long-range retention costs can add up. Additionally, while certificate rotations are better than most, the process is still manual for busy portfolios, especially concerning multi-SP SAML certificate rotations and app metadata drift. Two more buckets of potential improvements for Okta Platform involve user experience and security. There is the issue of push fatigue and prompt sprawl, where users receive multiple prompts across different apps and sessions. I arrived at the rating of eight because the core controls are strong and reliable, but a few operational UX and UI gaps prevent it from being rated higher. The reasons for not giving it a nine or ten include ongoing issues concerning safety and change safety, the complexity of group rules and mappings, and the lack of robustness in policy management. Additionally, there remains a need for more manual involvement than necessary, especially for large portfolios and dual certificate rotation, along with proactive SP data metadata validation.

Pros

"It is a very stable solution."
"Its simplicity and its integration with various vendor-agnostic platforms are the most valuable features."
"It's reliable and it does what it is advertised to do."
"I find the most useful feature of Okta Platform is that it allows the preconfiguration of multiple applications, eliminating the need for customized application onboarding, which is very helpful for me to configure multiple applications such as AWS, Azure, Zoom, Salesforce, and more than 1000 applications in Okta Platform dashboard."
"This solution is very good."
"A solution that's easy to use, stable, and reliable."
"Other than Okta being an easy and awesome integration tool, one of the best features it has is the provisioning and deprovisioning, which makes management way easier. You don't need to be too technical to understand how it works."
"It has a wide range of MFA options. I prefer "Okta Verify" out of them all."
"The solution is scalable and stable."
"I like how the solution allows me to support different types of hardware tokens and integrate with OTP."
"The technical support services are good."
"The solution has helped our organization by allowing all users to connect securely."
"We use this solution to log into virtual machines like VMware and VMware Horizon."
"The most valuable feature of SafeNet Authentication Manager is authentication."

Cons

"The integration process takes a bit longer than we would want it to."
"There is a need for Okta to provide an end-to-end solution without needing a separate product like Zscaler for multifactor authentication."
"When I started, there were some UI challenges. The UI could be improved to make it better because I had to watch many tutorials to become familiar with their UI flow and integrations."
"It was complex to implement password synchronization between AD domains."
"Okta could improve by making their learning materials more user-friendly."
"The only aspect in which it can be improved is that the interface could be cleaner."
"Okta is like a luxury product, and it's not the most affordable one."
"There is an access request system that is very limited access to the systems available for end-users. The access request should improve in Okta Customer Identity."
"The solution should allow for support of multi-tenant architecture."
"The product could be improved by adding more features for sending tokens via SMS or phone calls."
"I'd like to see integration with other platforms."
"The problem with SafeNet is that it's not integrated with Microsoft 365."
"The scalability could improve, we have a lot of downtimes two years ago; this was in the cloud environment, because we purchased SafeNet Authentication Manager as a cloud service, and sometimes it was down for two or three hours."
"The stability could improve."
