The Briefing Book feature enables measures to be filtered and viewed based on different criteria by end users.
This software is targeted at executive users, not the data analysts who want to slice and dice. The software will not replace your BI tools, but it will sit nicely on top of a BI tool if you want management to have quick and easy access to performance data. Improved AI-driven dashboards have accelerated decisions but still need better visuals and faster refresh
Absolutely, nothing is entirely positive, and everything has both advantages and disadvantages. When I worked with Qlik Sense, circular charts were not available, which meant I had to look for alternative solutions that would be reliable or make the functionality work. There are some features that need to be added. Additionally, there is a limit to the number of fields that can be added in Qlik Sense, and I believe it would be beneficial if they increased the count for fields and columns. There might be requirements where an Excel file contains many columns that need to be displayed as visual representations to clients, and in those situations, it becomes very difficult and I have to use alternative approaches. When this problem arose, I used HTML code to write a solution and make it work. Qlik Sense should avoid these types of limitations in future updates. Another issue is page resolution. If a client wants to view the dashboard on a single page without scrolling, bar charts appear small and the values in KPIs, bar charts, scatter plots, and line graphs cannot be seen very clearly. Adding more extensions to make the job easier would also be beneficial. Improvements to reporting would be helpful as well, because working with large datasets makes reporting very difficult. Additionally, when data is refreshed, it cannot be completed in a short timeframe. Refreshing very large datasets can take one, two, or even three hours, so reducing the refresh time would be very useful for customers.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"It is a comprehensive solution for performance management, and yet it is easy to setup and easy to use, especially in comparison with Oracle, SAS, Hyperion and SAP."
"The UI is very easy to use, with drag and drop self-service analytics."
"It offers good control. Loading the logs is also a good thing."
"What I found most valuable in Qlik Sense is its flexibility. It's a very flexible tool, and it has a lot of capabilities compared to Tableau and Power BI. In Qlik Sense, you can take data from any of the systems, and you can do data transformation, prepare the data, then present your KPIs. Data transformation isn't present in Tableau, Power BI, and other tools. In Qlik Sense, you're able to get the data and directly present that data. The presentation layer is also very good in Qlik Sense. My company is very happy with this tool."
"The reason being that it is a product that offers real value to businesses and it offers it fast."
"It is a great platform for third party extensions, has an open API, and there are no black boxes."
"Lots of end-users are now familiar enough with this solution to create quick dashboards based on their own data sources, like Excel files, CSV, TXT files, and databases."
"We integrate Qlik as an EU-wide BI tool, and acceptance was never an issue due to the ease of use and user interface."
"Qlik Sense is a mission-critical environment - the directors can't make their work happen without it."

Cons

"It needs to have better quality built in reports."
"I think Qlik Sense has a better engine than all the three that I've mentioned, but in regards to sharing the analysis, it's clunky; it's not as good."
"It would be nice to have a better system for help tickets than a community forum."
"In my opinion, collaborative development of the Qlik Apps is a bit tricky and difficult in the Qlik Sense Cloud."
"We have faced some issues with NPrinting, so I feel there is some improvement needed such that it would allow the use of variables and calculative fields from Qlik."
"Visually, Qlik Sense has some bugs that prevents the user from being able to customize fonts and certain layouts."
"The only issue with scalability that I can see is that you can't export more than 1,000,000 cells at a time."
"They should generally focus more on the evolution of current capabilities rather than doing everything but only at 50% effectiveness."
"There are occasional stability problems, but Qlik support is excellent at correcting anything that arises."

Pricing and Cost Advice

Information not available
"The cost is not bad considering the flexibility and support you receive from Qlik. I believe it is worth the cost."
"Start small with tokens. You can always buy more."
"The solution is worth it."
"Ultimately, the cost is low, and it implements fast. The limiting factor is how quickly your staff can keep up."
"Licensing could be cheaper."
"Licensing: Review the named model and move towards a usage model (e.g., cores, memory, computers, API calls, etc.)."
"The costs can initially become quite high. Make sure you have a clear understanding of who will truly use the product as opposed to someone that will simply receive the end report."
"Licensing is quite good, easy, but slightly expensive."
