I think the areas of SAP Analytics Cloud that could be improved or enhanced are mentioned by users or companies, and they would definitely mention the price in terms of planning licensing. From a consulting point of view, I don't see any major weaknesses. It is reasonably well-developed, and the perfect strength is that innovations are coming on a quarterly basis. It is slightly behind other tools in terms of the number of graphical outputs. Some tools have it faster, but every increment of innovations contains new features. On the other hand, it is perfectly fitting to the SAP environment, with seamless integration to all SAP modules, not only ERP but also SuccessFactors and other tools from the SAP family, for example, integrated business planning for the production planning. This is really a highlight compared to other tools.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"I like the fact that the solution is self-patching, that it's running machine-learning generally across its logs all the time in order to identify any issues and to self-repair."
"The solution has a self-backup, so you don't need a DBA (database administrator) to do a backup."
"The autonomous database provides several benefits and unmatched performance."
"Amazing performance, it is a revolution."
"It is an extremely scalable solution since you can dynamically change the resources as some other cloud solutions."
"I highly recommend it for companies who want to test their application functionality, dev, or test DBs for cost optimization."
"It is a stable and scalable solution."
"One advantage is that if you already have an Oracle Database, it easily integrates with that."
"All the services are available under one service, and the usability is easy with a user-friendly interface."
"This is a robust solution and I like that it's oriented to develop what we need in our ERP."
"One feature I've found most valuable is Discovery, a logistics tool that will place the dashboard for you on the fly and, for example, if you select a country, it will give the entire picture of where a product is high and where it is low."
"Technical support is helpful."
"We have definitely seen a return on investment, as we save money and time by consolidating software licenses into one subscription, which is far easier to manage."
"It integrates with third-party applications such as Google Drive and Excel,"
"It is a comprehensive BI solution that provides reporting, planning, and predictive analytics in one solution."
"Easy to use."

Cons

"Ease of connectivity could be improved."
"Oracle Autonomous Data Warehouse is not available as an on-premises solution."
"One of the major problem is creating custom tablespace. The ADB serverless option doesn't support custom tablespace creation, which could cause issues during on-premise database migration that requires specifically named tablespace. There should be an option to create customized tablespace."
"Optimization should be better."
"It is very important the integration with other platforms be made to be as easy as it is with an on-premises deployment."
"They should make the solution more user-friendly."
"One of the major problem is creating custom tablespace."
"Sometimes the solution works differently between the cloud and on-premises. It needs to be more consistent and predictable."
"This is not a very stable product."
"The security, authorization, and live connection to the back-office system features can be improved."
"With the R Visualization, the coding is somewhat complex."
"The analytics app is designed for programmers. You need to know programming languages in order to use the solution effectively, and some users aren't programmers."
"I would like to see reporting to the Analytics cloud directly."
"The platform could easily integrate with other ERP data solutions. Additionally, it should be faster compared to competitors in the cloud space."
"Though it's the best placed product when working with an SAP BW backend, it still lacks a lot of functionalities when compared to other tools such as Power BI or Tableau."
"The business intelligence features should be improved because there is a lack of functionality regarding that part."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Oracle Autonomous Data Warehouse's pricing is fair and reasonable compared to the other cloud vendors."
"The price depends on the configuration we choose."
"On a scale from one to ten, where one is a low price and ten is a high price, I rate the pricing an eight."
"Cloud solutions are cheaper, but in the long run, they may not be much cheaper. They certainly have a lower initial cost. The licensing is yearly, and it is based on the size of the hardware and the number of users."
"The licensing cost of the product can vary since you can integrate it very easily with other products or other cloud products...You pay as you use it, so it is not yearly or monthly payments to be made toward Oracle."
"The solution's cost is reasonable."
"We pay approximately $70,000 per month. The cost includes maintenance and support."
"ROI is high."
"It's quite expensive and costs a lot to maintain, especially with licensing."
"Its price is slightly on the higher side."
"The premium option is very expensive at five thousand dollars. I use the nine hundred and ninety-nine dollar option."
"The pricing is based on an annual license and is rated a four out of ten."
"It Wasn't directly involved in the pricing discussions, but when I joined the organization, they had already purchased the SAP Analytics Cloud solution. The organization faced challenges due to its perceived expense, leading to restrictions on granting access to many users."
"The platform is about 50% more expensive than Power BI."
"SAP pricing tends to be premium, so it is slightly higher."
"SAP Analytics Cloud can be quite expensive."
