Offers flexibility and better accessibility to users
The security part of the tool is not so strong, making it an area I would like to see improved in the solution. When working with a cloud tool, it's never 100 percent secure and it is always something to take into account. I would like to be more comfortable working with it and feeling safer. In the future, the tool can be made faster. In the future, I would like to see maybe some AI features in the tool to help automate stuff. You need to be able to create your own models to help create some automated actions.

Event-based data exchange has improved integrations but analytics and support remain weak
SAP Cloud Platform is a strong part of their offering. They are very poor in the analytics area. You do not have much available. If you want to have analytics, you have to do everything yourself. Everything is very expensive, so it is not helping with the infrastructure costs. There is a lot of latency and glitches. The support is very difficult and not really helpful. The fact is you are completely losing control of the infrastructure. If something bad happens, there is nothing you can really do. You have to ask the support and the support will answer when they want or when they can.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The framework supports auto-configuration. A lot of features are already there. It is reliable and user-friendly to develop code, back-end engineering, or locate specific information such as addresses."
"It is pretty easy to use."
"It offers easy provisioning, and we were able to get a server up and running in an hour."
"With Oracle Java Cloud Service, in a few clicks, you can set up an entire WebLogic server in the AWS cloud services and the storage cloud services."
"The automated features of auto-purging in 12c helps clear disk space on a routine basis."
"The auto-backup, incremental backup and restoration features can be invaluable for management."
"The product is very good, fine-tuned, and stable, and support is available 24/7 and is really fast and effective."
"Self-provisioning, easy to choose from WebLogic 11g to 12c."
"My advice to anyone who is doing such a thing right now is not to listen to the old reputation of SAP in terms of complexity and difficulty in deployment."
"SAP is quite a good company with good quality products, and I am confident this product is really good for the customers' business in order to integrate their businesses in the cloud environment."
"The ability to build custom applications on the BTP platform, reducing customization on the SAP HANA system and improving performance and management."
"The solution is very useful and interactive with a dashboard for viewing other interfaces."
"The event-based approach is valuable."
"It’s very easy to use and integrate, especially with other SAP solutions."
"The SAP Cloud Platform has been effective for us because the processing time is reduced, and we can access it easily."
"The solution can scale."

Cons

"Needs better integration with other Oracle/non-Oracle products."
"There are issues with the application's development, including small glitches and errors."
"Some of the automated platform patches broke our existing functionality and we were not notified about it."
"I think there should be improvement with the speed and it should offer a more diverse selection of the suites that I can use."
"I would like to see more monitors for standard edition"
"Integration with Oracle products is well-supported. The same should be provided for other products that are used in most organizations, like PeopleSoft, CA, etc."
"The product is satisfactory but we need more training on managing the machine itself. For example, how do we add more storage, how do we extend a specific portion? I would like to see videos illustrating some of the technical tasks that we often need to do."
"It needs to have the ability to create a service with the same name as another one when the initial creation failed as sometimes it's necessary to have a service with exact name."
"SAP offers very little flexibility in its licensing structure."
"For some of our customers, the product is too costly to purchase all the components or services."
"Speaking about the public cloud, it's a very rigid system. So, there is not a lot of customization possible in a public cloud environment."
"I'm taking away three points from the perfect score of ten because the platform still lacks many features and is very basic compared to the offerings from competitors such as AWS and Azure."
"I want to see better pricing from the SAP Cloud Platform in the future. I also want more security and scalability from it."
"The solution requires more flexibility overall."
"The product's support team has certain shortcomings, not from the solution's portal perspective but from the back-end side."
"My impression of the stability is that it is not good. Almost every month there is something new and that makes us nervous about delivery."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"It is somewhat expensive."
"Oracle Java Cloud Service is an expensive product."
"Oracle is a little more expensive right now, but not much compared to SAP. Oracle's prices are very much dependent on the scale of the project and how many users are there."
"SAP offers yearly, subscription-based, and pay-as-you-use licensing."
"The cost when it comes to monitoring can be difficult."
"Licensing costs for this solution are based on the number of users and the bandwidth."
"SAP Cloud Platform costs $2 to $5 per hour, while I found other platforms way more affordable. You have to pay per use, though that's fine because that means the cost is flexible."
"SAP Cloud Platform Integration is an expensive product. I rate its pricing an eight out of ten."
"SAP Cloud Platform is generally more expensive than the other options."
"SAP Cloud Platform is an expensive solution."
"The product's pricing varies and depends on the customers' needs."
