Easy to install, highly secure standards, and reliable
We use Oracle Security Monitoring and Analytics Cloud Service for security information, event management, and analytics. This has helped eliminate any external network attacks The security level that they are maintaining with the pre-authentication keys is very good. They are following the global…

Helps us detect cyber threats quickly and integrate multiple feeds effectively
Overall, the product is good, but when it comes to some infrastructure issues, we have to dig into more logs. There is no straightforward indication of an issue. Health check kind of dashboards are not available. More AI would help us, and more optimization, since security products run more queries. The AI module could suggest solutions, optimizing queries or workload balancing. If the product itself advises on running queries during peak times, it would be similar to what ChatGPT currently offers. We see quite a few issues on stability. Even last week, we faced something, and identifying bottlenecks is not easy. We need more SMEs, and there is no mechanism to tell us about indexer or search head issues. Self-monitoring dashboards could be beneficial. The technical support still requires more improvement. Often, primary support takes a lot of time and forwards most solutions to the engineering side. The primary support team has very limited knowledge to provide.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The solution is not expensive for the data security measure you receive, it is reasonable."
"The security level that they are maintaining with the pre-authentication keys is very good."
"The dashboards, indexing speed, correlations, and machine learning are advantages of Splunk Enterprise Security; even though other competitors offer the same features, the efficiency of Splunk Enterprise Security is the best."
"Splunk Enterprise Security has positively impacted our organization because it gives us the ability to have the information in one point."
"I very much enjoy Splunk's robust search nature, which enables me to find the data I want within the data I have."
"Splunk Enterprise Security is a huge value-add to us because I can confirm that our security team treats it as a normal component of their daily operations."
"What I appreciate the most about the product is the flexibility with data ingestion and searching, which is very powerful; you can do whatever you want with it."
"It has a low barrier to entry, but it is extremely extensible, allowing it to be tailored to highly specific use cases."
"The features of Splunk Enterprise Security that I find most valuable include Mission Control, which I really appreciate, the way accelerated data functions, making it really fast to see, the integration with SOAR, which is something really cool and integrates with automated processes, and the way to ingest threat intelligence feeds, which is an amazing feature as well."
"Based on my experience and what I have heard, the customer support for Splunk Enterprise Security is excellent."

Cons

"The solution could improve by providing better documentation for beginners to learn, such as videos or other tutorials."
"Splunk Enterprise Security has not helped improve our organization's business resilience since resilience means the ability to recover from a disaster, and we are not using it in that capacity at all."
"The solution could improve by increasing the performance. We have run into problems when large amounts of data are processed."
"Its interface could be improved."
"The prices are complicated as we operate in a small third-world country."
"Since I am currently working with SOAR, I would like to give recommendations regarding Splunk SOAR, as there are very few ready-made apps, and we face problems with integration, which requires us to write to the vendor for help."
"One area Splunk Enterprise Security fails to improve is the pricing aspect; while the initial pricing seems fine, the licensing cost can skyrocket over time, creating trauma for organizations."
"Splunk Enterprise Security can be improved mainly from the user interface regarding the visualizations. They are working on it, yet there are only five to ten very basic visualizations."
"I rate the technical support of Splunk Enterprise Security as a three. I find it not good because whenever I raise a ticket, they take a very long time."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The solution is not expensive for the data security measure you receive, it is reasonable."
"I think that most of the monitoring solutions are expensive."
"Splunk is not free."
"It would be nice if the pricing were cheaper. However, we did purchase it."
"I think that most of the log analytics solutions are expensive and I'm not sure if it's worth it."
"It is expensive. I work for multiple clients. I am working for more than five clients, but most of the clients are switching from Splunk to Sentinel because of the cost. Even though Sentinel is very limited, clients are moving to Sentinel."
"I am not personally involved with the pricing of the solution."
"Splunk Enterprise Security is cheaper than competitors, but I do not know whether it is just our contract."
"Personnel costs are saved by not having to involve the domain developers from multiple teams when tracing a problem that spans multiple platforms."
