Visual task boards have structured academic research projects and improve team coordination
There are several areas where Trello could be improved based on our academic research and team project usage. One improvement would be more advanced built-in analytics, such as better progress tracking dashboards or productivity insights without relying on third-party tools. Another area is scalability for complex projects where boards get very large with many cards and dependencies. It can become harder to manage without additional structure or hierarchy features. Overall, it works very well, but these enhancements would make it even stronger for larger or long-term projects. One additional area of improvement in Trello is automation and integrations. While Trello does support basic automation through Butler, more advanced and flexible automation rules would be helpful, especially for academic research workflows where tasks often move between stages in more complex forms. It would help if automation rules were easier to set up and more flexible for different project workflows. Additionally, smoother integrations with tools such as Google Drive or other study applications would save time and reduce switching between platforms. I think one additional improvement for Trello would be support for larger projects with many tasks and team members. As boards grow, they can become crowded and harder to navigate. More advanced filtering, reporting, and project overview features would help users manage complex projects more efficiently.

Pros

"The primary uses for this tool are task delegation, generating reports, and on-time invoices."
"It increased productivity and timely delivery of projects within a set budget."
"Real-time collaboration, invoice generation, task delegation, and file management features have become valuable features for our organization."
"Projects do not take as long and meetings take less time, since you know the status of developments or tests."
"Trello's user interface is really good, making it easy for us to maintain and monitor."
"I like Trello's speed. It is more user-friendly compared to Jira. Jira is technical, whereas the management can use Trello."
"Trello has positively impacted my organization as it saves us about one hour a week, and it's really good to have a product such as Trello just to organize it."
"The most valuable feature is the fact that I can see everything on one page, like sticky notes, and everything is set up, and it's pretty easy to use."
"The most valuable features of the solution are that it is easy to use and flexible while offering the ease of use of drag-and-drop functionality for each task."
"Trello is very easy to install and set up, it is also easy to use, its interface is excellent, and it is stable and quite secure."
"My advice to people looking into implementing Trello is to just do it, because it's really a great software, very easy to use, and a great collaboration tool, as long as you implement it into your organization properly."

Cons

"The timely reminders could be reduced from one mail a day to three mails in a week. This tends to fill up our inboxes a lot."
"It is hard to track completed requests and show performance based on closed cards."
"I would appreciate seeing how much time spend on each specific ticket."
"It would be good if we could update the project status by email without logging into Trello."
"Having more integration with third party tools is an area for improvement in Trello. It would also be nice if it has a voice messaging functionality similar to what you have in WhatsApp, for quicker communication with colleagues."
"In the card area, you should not be able to modify so easily what is already written, as this can cause loss of information."
"The solution could be priced cheaper."
"Being able to export reports from Trello, general reports, or board reports, would improve the solution for me as a manager."
"It could have a bit more customization, especially for organizations that may want to integrate it into their own systems."

Pricing and Cost Advice

Information not available
"The free version of Trello covers all of the bases and all of our needs, so there's no cost involved for us. This is surprising for such a quality platform with no limitations on the key functionalities, though it also has a paid version."
"Trello was free when we used it, but if we wanted many people looped in, we did need to pay a fee."
"Maybe it would be better if they offered some extra tiers, so you don't have to go all the way up to the pro level."
"We are currently using the open-source option."
"Paying for the solution's license is worth it only if our enterprise or organization can use Trello, integrated with some other solution, and we can have good reports."
"The pricing for this solution is reasonable."
"I am tinkering with the free version."
"We pay $10 per user per month for the product."
