Has reduced troubleshooting time and improved issue detection through sensor alerts and team collaboration
PRTG Network Monitor can be improved because the dashboard themes feel outdated. It should be updated to a newer version for the new Gen Z customers. The notification sound options are limited unless customized. Restarting probes after Windows updates is necessary, and there should be some kind of automatic restart. The initial auto-discovery added too many unnecessary sensors, so auto-discovery should only take the necessary sensors into consideration.

Centralized monitoring has reduced outages and enables faster diagnosis across all database servers
The best features Redgate Monitor offers include detailed resource monitoring, instant alerts, and easy customization. A user can quickly see how your server is performing and which queries are taking the longest. The instant alerts and customizable options help since it is a multiple-platform database observability for the entire estate. I use this to optimize performance, ensure security, and mitigate potential risks with fast, deep-dive analysis and intelligent alerting. I love Redgate Monitor because it helps manage an entire database estate from a single pane of glass. Redgate Monitor has positively impacted my organization by creating database observability to proactively mitigate potential risks with instant problem diagnosis and customizable alerting. It accelerates daily database maintenance by automating time-consuming manual tasks, such as identifying long-running queries or tracking blocked processes, which frees up time to proactively improve the performance and security of servers. I have seen time savings from twenty percent to forty-five percent. It also helps to minimize downtime.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The feature set is very strong compared to other products that I have used; it's great because it does everything that we need it to do, it's easy to use, and it looks great when you present it in an open office environment."
"PRTG Network Monitor's best features are its flexibility, ease of implementation, user-friendliness, and intuitive interfaces."
"The auto-pause for sensors during maintenance windows is awesome, as there are no false alerts till now and the built-in SNMP tester tool has saved me multiple times during setups, making PRTG Network Monitor a one-stop monitoring solution for my industry."
"Personally, in my 20 years of experience working with monitoring systems, this is the best."
"The sensors and probes are great, nice and lightweight, they don't take up too many resources on the system. We just deploy them out and they start reporting instantly."
"PRTG Network Monitor is user-friendly and takes just one click to install the solution in Windows."
"I can create my own program sensor. This means I can add extra monitoring capabilities into the already fundamentally strong foundation."
"The initial setup is very simple."
"Redgate Monitor has impacted our organization positively by helping us simplify day-to-day tasks and realize a feeling of security."
"Redgate Monitor has been the best tool that I have used to keep in touch with the servers when I am not physically watching them."
"Redgate Monitor has positively impacted my organization by creating database observability to proactively mitigate potential risks with instant problem diagnosis and customizable alerting."
"Overall, I truly love Redgate Monitor and would recommend it to anyone in database administration, but I also recognize that improvements and upgrades, especially concerning its AI features, are essential for ongoing development."

Cons

"Although the reporting module is functional, I feel it is a bit clunky compared to the rest of the interface, and it would benefit from being polished for future use."
"In the next release, PRTG Network Monitor should add a backup solution."
"I would like to see more updates available in this solution."
"Other monitoring tools that I have used are easier to use."
"The free version only gives us 100 free sensors to use. It would be nice if there was double that."
"I've encountered a challenge in my functions, particularly in adding and printing."
"Its price can be better. Its price is a problem for us because it is in dollars, and there is a high conversion rate. In terms of new features, it can have BGP monitoring. It should also have a dashboard and maps editor."
"I wouldn't mind better categories for the sensors. When I go to add a new sensor for a new device, there are some categories in there already, and they can be filtered out, but there's quite a large pool of sensors... When I want to go in and find something quite specific, I have got to scroll down and scroll down to find what I'm actually looking for,"
"For improvement, I think Redgate Monitor's alert customization depth could be enhanced; I would appreciate more granular control over notification rules such as user permissions and alert grouping, as well as attention towards resource usage since Redgate Monitor can be resource-intensive."
"It is a bit expensive for MSPs to use for their day-to-day monitoring."
"Regarding pricing, setup cost, and licensing, I must say I don't favor the subscription model, and the price is somewhat higher."
"Regarding how Redgate Monitor can be improved, I think the capability to actually handle things would be a great feature."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The pricing is very low compared to other solutions."
"The scalability is there, but smaller companies might need CAM software to be able afford the product."
"The price of PRTG Network Monitor is more expensive than other solutions, such as OP Network Manager."
"I would like better pricing models for smaller businesses. The free version is fantastic, but it's too restrictive. If they could just get up to 200 sensors for a reasonable fee for on-premise, I would give PRTG my credit card right now."
"We are licensed for 2500 endpoints."
"The pricing is okay and it is cheaper than some competing products."
"We used a product called SolarWinds in the past, and its cost was high. Whereas, PRTG came in at a third of SolarWind's cost."
"We are using the premium version of PRTG Network Monitor. The price of the solution is a bit higher than competitors but it is worth the extra money. However, it would be helpful if the price was lower."
