Has consistently provided impressive data handling capabilities and robust security features
Some of the most valuable features of SAP Data Services include data extraction where SAP is the best in that perspective, but when it comes to analytics or the reporting tool, I prefer to connect with Microsoft Power BI, which is a fantastic tool. Typically, from an end-user perspective, SAP has a huge amount of data, in terms of terabytes of data, but when you analyze that, the best form of visualization is always through Microsoft Power BI. SAP Data Services provides a best-in-class return on investment, as SAP's vision and forecast are absolutely amazing. They are ahead of technology, building an ecosystem that meets the standards of the fast-changing digital economy. SAP is indeed good at all this now, with so many components such as SAP Signavio, SAP EINS, SAP Work Zone, SAP ALM, Cloud ALM, SAP public cloud, SAP private cloud, and BTP, all of which are essential to meet the latest cutting-edge technologies.

Offers predefined rules and easy to migrate data with minimum customisation of rules
The customization of the data needs improvement. We need to build basic SQL queries rather than being able to do it within the tool. We need to be able to analyze the SQL queries and then rerun them based on customer usage. We should be able to tune the existing process by using simple SQL queries based on the customer's requirements. In future releases, I would like to see more features around Preload and postload reports. From the end-user point of view, it is not very feasible to read. I need to know how the data has been migrated. I need to know whether the complete data has been migrated, only the required data has been migrated, and how it was migrated. So the postload reports will give validation between the source data and the target source. It would give exact picture of the data migration.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"I like how SAP Data Services links reporting and data integration. That's what's most interesting. You also have the opportunity to leverage the power of the Data Services server."
"The user interface is ok."
"It's easy to understand and deploy. It's easy to create new applications, and depending on the complexity of the application, it is easy to deploy the new requirements."
"Data Services is extremely stable and stability information steward is considerably higher in version 4.2 than it was at the initial version 4.0."
"The product has fantastic data quality options and matching/consolidation features, and the ETL is very powerful and easy to use."
"Having different ways of extracting data has been very useful; we can extract data at a table level, extract data at the ETL level, and we can extract data at an ODP level."
"The maintenance of data services is the solution's most valuable feature."
"The most valuable feature is the logging capability."
"The customer service and support is good."
"With Syniti Data Quality, you can integrate SAP and directly fix errors from Syniti Data Quality instead of logging into SAP and then fixing them."
"The major benefits of Syniti Data Quality stem from the productivity and flexibility it offers to users."
"Syniti has built-in 80% of the solution, and we only need to customize 20 to 25% of the features. It is easy to run and pre-load reports."

Cons

"Technical Support: Needs improvement as far as responsiveness."
"In the future, Data Services should offer a cloud version."
"SAP Data Services should be made a web-based solution."
"This is not a solution I recommend for incident management."
"We encounter challenges while exporting implemented rules, such as those applied to objects like the material master, into a format like Excel for documentation and further analysis."
"For new product implementations, there is a super high level of customization required, especially where data ingestion and SLA requirements are very demanding, which is where we see the need for improvement in SAP Data Services."
"They could make it easier to work with web services."
"Newer feature integration is lagging behind the company acquisitions and the product could do more to service a broader range of devices."

"It would be good if Syniti Data Quality could integrate more AI in the future."
"The customization of the data needs improvement. We need to build basic SQL queries rather than being able to do it within the tool. We need to be able to analyze the SQL queries and then rerun them based on customer usage."
"In Syniti Data Quality, data extraction is an area with certain shortcomings where improvements are required."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The license price is expensive but medium to large-scale companies, should be able to afford it. Other solutions, such as Talend are easier to afford for smaller companies. Depending on the sources of the data where you are receiving your data you could be paying for more than one license."
"Its pricing is as per the enterprise agreement and not a concern for us."
"Pricing is good, there is no problem."
"It's relatively expensive compared to other vendors, but it is competitive."
"The pricing is a little high to make the product more competetive in the marketplace."
"The enterprise version of SAP Data Services is free."
"At the entry level, if you're using it only for data integration, it is a little bit cheap. However, for large organizations it can be expensive. There are additional costs apart from the license."
"The price of SAP Data Services is a little high when compared to other solutions. Due to the pricing and capabilities, many clients are switching to other solutions."
"The solution is expensive."
"I would rate the pricing a six out of ten, where one is cheap, and ten is expensive."
