Discontinuation of Hardware and limited firewalling capabilities
Overall, I would rate the solution a four out of ten. For UTM, I will not suggest Seqrite. But for EPS and antivirus, it is good. Cost-wise also and some features. The features wise also, it is good. And support is also good. We can get support on WhatsApp. So support-wise, it is also good.

Unified security has simplified multi-appliance work but still needs more architectural flexibility
There is room for improvement when it comes to their features and architectures they're trying to implement that they can't directly help with. But by and large, it's actually relatively good. More flexibility would make Sophos Cyberoam UTM better. The platform is not entirely flexible as it is. For example, with Cisco ASA and Firepower, you have the command line that can give you more flexibility in terms of the kind of architectures that you can put them in. But for Sophos Cyberoam UTM, you don't really have that access that can give you those network flexibilities that would allow you to do some other types of architectures.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"It has an MDM solution."
"It is a VPN that serves all your needs as an application firewall."
"I would recommend Sophos Cyberoam UTM to other organizations based on my experience."
"I find Sophos Cyberoam UTM very good. I like the feature of being able to block off Mac IDs that host users. For example, you have a Mac or Windows laptop and you created a hotspot. Other devices like mobiles and tablets e.g. iPads connected to that hotspot. We can block those devices that connected to the hotspot we created, only through Sophos. It's a good feature we didn't find in other UTMs."
"We have never had to restart a firewall. The firewalls have all worked perfectly fine."
"The best feature is the flexibility the product offers, in terms of remote access. What we had before was a decentralized mechanism in our organization, but after having this product we were able to get the remote locations into the same LAN. We were able to control the bandwidth and were able to take virtual access of those machines and give them the support, as and when required."
"All of the features are quite good and this is definitely a product that I recommend."
"Bandwidth Management and aggregation. It is valuable for combining two ISPs. Switching to a secondary/redundant ISP is thus seamless, in the event that the primary ISP goes down. The Bandwidth Management is also valuable for limiting heavy downloaders that may impact negatively on the experience of other users."
"The security capabilities are okay."

Cons

"This solution is not accurate. Sometimes, the switches got hung. So sometimes, whatever policies we have deployed were not working properly."
"Cyberoam UTM needs to have more certifications with third-parties, such as NSS Labs."
"The product fails to provide proper reports, making it an area where improvements are required."
"In my experience the solution can be easier to configure with more documentation, we need more training."
"The solution is at its end of life and some of the appliances are finishing."
"Sales and support. The sales team is constantly being changed and after acquisition by Sophos, it was treated as a stepchild until they announced the end-of-life cycle with a path to Sophos XG product."
"I am not happy with the pricing, it could be better."
"I face issues when connecting to the VPN since it requires an authenticator. It would be beneficial if phone calls or SMS for two-factor authentication were available."
"When it comes to web filtering and application filtering, it does not contain enough signatures to determine all of the sites that need to be blocked."

Pricing and Cost Advice

Information not available
"The product is reasonably priced."
"There is a license required for this solution and we are on a three-year contract. I am satisfied with the price."
"The licensing is on an annual basis and is very reasonably priced."
"The prices of the product can be considered quite steep...My company makes yearly payments towards the licensing cost attached to the product to our ISP."
"Cyberoam's pricing depends on the services you subscribe for. Most firewalls right now, especially UTM, focus on services and stagger all the services. If you want a particular service, you pay for it."
"Sophos Cyberoam UTM has many price schemes."
"I have no comment about the pricing."
"The price is very competitive and the licensing is easy."
