Risk-based triage has transformed container security and now prioritizes high-impact threats
The best features Qualys TotalCloud offers currently include managing cloud infrastructure and container security while facing major challenges such as alert fatigue. Traditional vulnerability scanners flag hundreds of CVEs on short-lived Kubernetes containers, some of which have no internet exposure or are gone before we can even triage them. I leverage Qualys TotalCloud to move beyond static CVSS. I use it to implement runtime exposure, correlation risk reprioritization, and shift-left integration. This notifies developers to fix a base image upstream rather than patching live ephemeral instances. In my work with cloud and container security, the biggest operational hurdle was alert fatigue. I use Qualys to shift left from static CVSS severity to context-aware risk prioritization. I correlated raw vulnerability data with real-time risk factors such as public network exposure, active runtime execution, or overly permissive IAM roles. This allows us to immediately drop the priority of isolated containers and escalate lower-severity CVEs that sit on an exposed, high-risk path. We can map these findings directly back to our CI/CD pipelines so developers can patch the root base images upstream. We have drastically cut down the signal-to-noise ratio, saved a lot of manual hours doing triage work, and ensured engineering effort goes directly towards high-impact risk reduction.

Continuous monitoring has improved OT threat detection and now provides faster, accurate alerts
The best features of Tenable Vulnerability Management include vulnerability scanning, asset discovery, continuous monitoring and alerting, and the ability to report through the dashboard. The dashboard is fully customized towards our environment, and we can use that for our advantage. Out of those features, I find myself relying on the vulnerability scanning the most because it identifies known vulnerabilities and gives us the ability to understand if there is any missing configuration or security configuration. It reduces the exposure to cyber attacks and gives us a detailed view of how the OT environment is functioning. Tenable Vulnerability Management features are great, and the reporting and dashboards are easy and customizable for our environment. The reporting tool gives us immediate information or alerts based on the set parameters that we have within the infrastructure. It gives us a threat level as high, medium, or low, and this can help us to identify or determine if there is any known threat within the environment. The governance and security of Tenable Vulnerability Management is within our control, meaning the user has the power or the authority to work with the AI and to allow the AI to work within your environment in terms of what you want. For instance, the OT environment is something that is very sensitive, and you will not want the AI management tool to take over or to do certain actions within the OT environment. Therefore, as a user, you have control over the AI. Tenable Vulnerability Management provides accuracy and reliable output because it is active, it is real, and it gives updated information. The threats are real based on the alerts that we get, and after reviewing, we are sure that what we see is within our environment and it is accurate.

Has become an indispensable tool in our cybersecurity arsenal
While Zafran Security is already a powerful tool, there are areas where it could be further improved to provide even greater value. One key area for enhancement is the searching capabilities within its vulnerabilities module. By incorporating the ability to create Boolean searches, users would gain the ability to apply more complex filters and customize their search criteria. This would greatly enhance the precision and efficiency with which security teams can identify and prioritize vulnerabilities. Having such tailored search capabilities would save time and resources by narrowing down vast lists of vulnerabilities to those that meet specific parameters relevant to our unique risk environment. Additionally, integrating more robust reporting and visualization tools would be advantageous. Enhanced dashboards that offer customizable visual representations of risk configurations and threat landscapes would facilitate better communication with stakeholders, making it easier to explain vulnerabilities and the rationale behind certain security measures. This would also aid in demonstrating the improvements and value derived from existing security investments to leadership and non-technical team members.

"The solution can integrate with third parties and meets standard compliance."
"The tool has an easy-to-use interface."
"The stability has been very good overall."
"Tenable.io, in particular, is quite a powerful product; it looks at your traditional environment, which is pretty much anything that is on-premises, and it also goes a step ahead and covers your modern assets, which is anything that is currently sitting in the cloud, so you get complete visibility of your entire environment and tech operation, and the ability to give you visibility across the entire tech surface is one of the biggest advantages that Tenable.io has."
"The dashboard is pretty intuitive, and it lets you do a drill-down analysis of each vulnerability. That is something that brings a lot of value to the organization."
"Zafran has become an indispensable tool in our cybersecurity arsenal."
"We are able to see the real risk of a vulnerability on our environment with our security tools."
"With Zafran Security, it integrates with your security controls, allowing you to take that risk score and reduce it based on the controls in place or increase the risk based on different factors, such as if the issue is internet reachable or if there's an exploit in the wild."
"We saw benefits from Zafran Security almost immediately after deploying it."
"Overall, we have seen about eighty-seven percent reduction of the number of vulnerabilities that require urgency to remediate, specifically the number of criticals."

Cons

"I would appreciate additional integration options to connect Qualys TotalCloud with our other vulnerability management tools."
"The cloud licensing unit system is unclear, especially since "units" aren't well-defined."
"In terms of improvement, remediation still belongs to the cloud team, which is one of the issues we faced with Qualys TotalCloud."
"Two areas for improvement in Qualys TotalCloud are the speed of the public cloud platform and vulnerability detection."
"With the growing integration of AI, I would like Qualys to enhance its service offerings to better accommodate AI-related risks."
"I chose a rating of nine out of ten because there is a complex interface that sometimes overwhelms new engineers."
"The downside is only in container security, but it has not been a long time since they introduced these models."
"Although TotalCloud is a helpful tool, some of its advanced features are still under development."
"I'm not satisfied with the reporting structure."
"One area that they could improve is technical support. Oftentimes, it's not as good as it should be."
"The one drawback that we have found is the reports. We are still getting reports from Tenable.sc since the maturity levels on the reports are lacking."
"They need a better approach to support. When I have hard questions that need answers to, I prefer to jump to L3 support instead of getting pushed to L1."
"Technical support requires constant follow up and that is an issue. I rate support a two out of ten."
"The solution must provide penetration testing."
"Tenable.io Vulnerability Management could be improved with an increased number of dashboards and MSSP integration."
"The pricing of the solution could be more reasonable."
"The dashboarding and reporting functionality of Zafran Security is an area that definitely could use some improvements."
"Initially, we were somewhat concerned about the scalability of Zafran due to our large asset count and the substantial amount of information we needed to process."
"I think the ability to have some enhanced reporting capabilities is something they can improve on, as they have good reports but we have asked for some specific reporting enhancements."
