Continuous network insight has improved early threat detection and streamlined investigations
Overall, we have a positive experience with Trellix Network Detection and Response, but like any enterprise security solution, there are areas where it can continue to improve. One area would be user interface and dashboard customization. While the platform provides a lot of valuable information, new users can sometimes face a learning curve when navigating and investigating and creating customized views. More intuitive dashboards would simplify workflows and help analysts access critical information even faster. Another area for improvement is reporting and analytics. The existing reporting capabilities are useful, but more flexibility and customizable reporting options would make it easier to generate executive-level summaries, compliance reports, and operational metrics for different audiences.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Trellix Network Detection and Response is a great tool that integrates with a lot of security tools such as Palo Alto, which is a good firewall, and if you have these types of tools, your organization would benefit greatly."
"Support is very helpful and responsive."
"The most valuable feature of the solution stems from how it allows users to do the investigation part. Another important part of the product that is valuable is associated with how it gives information to users in the form of a storyline."
"The server appliance is good."
"FireEye has created an ecosystem of products integrated with their own SIEM, which is cloud-based and integrates with network security, email security, host security and the like."
"Initially, we didn't have much visibility around what is occurring at our applications lower level. For instance, if we are exposed to any malicious attacks or SQL injections. But now we've integrated FireEye with Splunk, so now we get lots of triggers based on policy content associated with FireEye. The solution has allowed for growth and improvement in our information security and security operations teams."
"Because of what the FireEye product does, it has significantly decreased our meantime in being able to identify and detect malicious threats."
"We wanted to cross-reference that activity with the network traffic just to be sure there was no lateral movement. With Trellix, we easily confirmed that there was no lateral network involvement and that nothing else was infected. It helped us correlate the events and feel confident in our containment."
"IP tracing is the most valuable feature."

Cons

"The one thing that needs to improve is that they use guidance or FDK for max data."
"On a scale of one to 10, with one being the worst and 10 being the best, I would you rate this product an 8. From a security perspective, it's pretty decent. It's just that I have seen it miss some semi loads or triggers when it's integrated with other products."
"It doesn't connect with the cloud, advanced machine learning is not there."
"If you want to search the hashes in the environment, you need to put in IOCs one by one, making it a very hectic job."
"I think the UI of Trellix Network Detection and Response can be improved for a first-time user."
"I have had a positive experience with Trellix Network Detection and Response, but there are areas where it could be improved."
"Trellix Network Detection and Response is stable but occasionally encounters performance issues, which we can fix quickly."
"Its documentation can be improved. The main problem that I see with FireEye is the documentation. We are an official distributor and partner of FireEye, and we have access to complete documentation about how to configure or implement this technology, but for customers, very limited documentation is available openly. This is the area in which FireEye should evolve. All documents should be easily available for everyone."
"The technical support needs improvement."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"It's an expensive solution."
"Pricing and licensing are reasonable compared to competitors."
"When you purchase FireEye Network Security NX, will need to purchase a megabit per second package. You must know your needs from day one."
"Its price is a bit high. A small customer cannot buy it. Its licensing is on a yearly basis."
"The user fee is not as high but the maintenance fee is expensive."
"FireEye is comparable to other products, such as HX, but seems expensive. It may cause us to look at other products in the market."
"The pricing is a little high."
"The tool is a bit pricey."
"The solution is overly priced."
