Easy to use and mange with reasonable pricing
The main feature is a specific file type. If we want some PDF files just to back up, the prefix is very easy, and we do everything in Veeam backup. It's straightforward to set up. It's stable. The solution is easy to use. You can centrally manage it. It's potentially free to use.

Backup operations have become reliable and reporting now simplifies hybrid cloud protection
Veeam Data Platform has Veeam Enterprise Manager as well as Veeam ONE as valuable features, which allow us to generate various kinds of reports that are required for the customer. Instant VM Recovery is a good feature of the high-speed recovery features in Veeam Data Platform, and Continuous Data Protection (CDP) is also a good feature. Ransomware protection is a good feature added in Veeam Data Platform from version 12 onwards, and the ability to create immutable repositories is also a good feature in Veeam. The analytics part of Veeam Data Platform is a good solution because I have worked on various backup technologies such as EMC NetWorker and NetBackup. However, I have not used the analytical parts currently but will check it out. Streamlining processes as well as saving money are benefits that Veeam Data Platform provides for the end user, as it allows for application-aware backups and database backups without the need for various kinds of licenses that other backup software requires. Veeam offers socket-based licenses, instance-based licenses, and capacity-based licenses, which is a great feature.

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The installation of Veeam Agent is straightforward."
"Technical support is good. They're very responsive. It depends on the timezone responding, but I usually get a response within three hours of creating a ticket."
"The interface of this solution is quite good."
"The most valuable features of Veeam Agent for Microsoft Windows are the backups, ease of use, and report manager."
"The initial setup is very straightforward."
"This is a good product with a simple environment."
"Veeam is very useful for the Hyper-V environment."
"We are saving a lot of money on costs right now since we have implemented the solution and we are using the community version."
"The solution is quite stable."
"This product has improved the entire RTO and allows us to restore applications and services to customers within a few minutes."
"We've got customers all over the spectrum, and some customers do switch to Veeam because of its ease of use and its price point."
"This product has more than made up for the initial costs of licensing, hardware and support."
"The solution is very user-friendly."
"If it backs up, then I'm sure it will restore!"
"Veeam Backup Replication is easy to use and has high performance. The backups are very fast. It's a complete solution that fulfills our current needs."
"I have previously used many different solutions and choose Veeam for its quick and correct solutions for my problems."

Cons

"The solution's compression ratio and high speed for backing up can always improve. Aspects that need improvement are less time, better quality, higher security, and more compression. These are continuous requirements for any customer."
"If I'm trying to locate an item to restore from one of the backups, I would appreciate the ability to perform a global search on the catalog."
"The backups can go slow."
"There really are no cons. The product simply has to maintain development to keep up with changes in the operating system."
"There isn't really anything I would like to improve. Maybe the solution could be more secure."
"We went from a 30 second RTO to a 2-3 hour RTO."
"While the Veeam agent is perfect, sometimes the agent doesn't install in Windows."
"The price of Veeam Agent for Microsoft Windows could improve."
"With Veeam v7 in conjunction with vSphere 5.5 using vSphere Flash Read Cache (vFRC), I started seeing issues with Veeam backups either failing or VM Snapshots constantly needing consolidation."
"There are certain shortcomings associated with the virtualization infrastructure."
"This is an expensive solution."
"The backup of the device could be improved and it's also quite an expensive solution, more expensive than Acronis."
"I would like them to move back to host licensing."
"Its import and export processes for information and policies could be better."
"It needs to support more applications."
"Technical Support: It's poor for certain issues (with the Veeam One product, the guys did not talk together and asked the same question several times)."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The cost for its licenses is reasonable and as per industry standards."
"Pricing is based on license packaging and duration. Longer term licenses are less per year and license packages also offer a discount."
"We have the Community Edition and I believe we bought a license for 200 instances. Veeam Agent is mainly used for our branch offices. Those only have one or two Hyper-V servers, so it's covered with the Community Edition. Basically, it's free. I remember Veeam 7.0 or 8.0 wasn't free, but the Community Edition is."
"We have a license package."
"Our licensing fees are on a yearly basis."
"The licensing fees are billed on a yearly basis, and the fees are much lower than what I pay for NetBackup."
"We have an annual license."
"For the licensing of Veeam Agent for Microsoft Windows, the customer can choose to pay monthly or yearly. It's up to the customer."
"The licensing fee depends on the licensing model we choose."
"Since our Veeam license is perpetual, we only pay for annual maintenance."
"Setup cost and licensing of Veeam are nothing to complain about when compared to similar products for enterprise backup recovery solutions."
"The price is quite competitive compared to other products in my region."
"This is an expensive solution and came at a higher cost than expected."
"If you have Exchange, Oracle, SQL, or a supported SAN, then I suggest getting at least an Enterprise edition. It’ll pay for itself in no time."
"I think the price is good when you choose the Essentials Suite, but when you buy a full featured version (for instance the Enterprise Plus) the price is a little bit expensive."
"The pricing and licensing is better than the competitors, but it could be better."
