Reliable backups and high-capacity data management have transformed large-scale census projects
When it comes to how Oracle Database can be improved, for me it is all about training and development in terms of gamification, creating awareness, and spreading the word to aspiring database administrators and database developers. As I have used it in the past and in recent times, many people are trying to get into IT, so the opportunity exists. Oracle has the market opportunity to take this time to spread its offerings and ensure that many aspiring professionals are aware of its services and products. From my perspective, there is not much to add regarding the needed improvements for the interface and the documentation. I give it a nine because I think Oracle sometimes can make things complicated. You have many services, many products, and many tools for different use cases. So it is difficult for someone who is only used to a particular product, such as Oracle Database, to understand all the other products and services that it provides. Probably streamlining it and making it available with categorized use cases for specific job roles would help. If you are a database developer, these are the tools that you need to be familiar with in Oracle's suite of products, and if you are a database administrator, these are the tools. Categorizing them based on the job role or function of people who are accessing these products and providing training capabilities on how to use them and how these products interchange and talk to each other would be very important because that is one of the things I struggled with when I started my journey as an Oracle Database administrator. Having that visibility of all the software products and providing free training and documentation on how you can improve and which products are best suited for integration to your product from Oracle would go a long way to help organizations and professionals. Regarding Oracle Database's AI capabilities, I am very keen on its governance and security. I think more work needs to be done on the security and ensuring that the database for a large number of people is watertight. AI is here to stay; however, governance and more stress testing of the AI capabilities needs to be done to ensure there is no breach of data. I would rate it currently at 6 over 10 and there is room for improvement. As long as there are government policies and Oracle policies that can mitigate any breaches of data and serious security issues, releasing people's records over the internet, there is always room for improvement in that regard.

Pros

"Oracle is a perfect solution, as it will never go down."
"High availability using real application clusters."
"The product has improved organizations by developing BI applications for banks such as a banking data warehouse, fraud detection, incident detection, ad-hoc BI reports shown on maps with drill-down features, data quality process and ETL."
"In my opinion, it's one of the strongest databases available in the world."
"It is easy to set up on their engineered systems."
"Because Oracle Database is incredibly stable, it has been used for 20 to 30 years."
"The product's installation phase was straightforward."
"Right now, I would say that Oracle is one of the best solutions for our customers in terms of stability."
"The solution is stable."
"Able to write queries more efficiently and the management of data has become better and easier."
"The database is quite robust in terms of performance from the SQL side."
"The most valuable feature is automation."
"It has a programming language so anything that we require for Selenium is all available there."
"Our ROI has been a 600% growth in stock price, one of the biggest increase rates for any of the global top 50 companies."
"The valuable features include connecting to the database and retrieving data."
"The additional value of having Java inside the Oracle database is all the security that is applied to an Oracle database will be enforced on Java's stored procedures as well."

Cons

"The solution is not for everyday use. It is not easy to use and maintain."
"Database has a lot of limitations, especially when you have a huge data insertion that you're trying to query."
"In my opinion, the pricing of all the additional tools that Oracle provides is very complicated. The pricing model is very unfriendly for the user, and for the web vendors."
"Its security is good, but it could be more secure."
"There is a lot that can improve in Oracle Database. For example, it could be more user-friendly and should be easier to integrate into the cloud."
"There are plenty of options and features in this solution, but they are, somehow, not being used very well. Therefore, training and support should be increased and improved for this solution. They can make people aware of how to make proper use of their server so that people can optimize it because its cost is just too much. They can provide training on the policies and procedures to be used for archiving and all such things. There should be some kind of segregation in licensing. With a full license, all options should be available. There should also be a basic license with limited functionalities. This kind of basic license would be useful for us because we don't use most of the functionalities."
"If it could be more affordable, it would be a plus. Because the product is very expensive."
"We believe that the usability could be improved, especially within the data lakehouse. We found content management to be a little bit more simpler within the GUI part."
"The tool might be integrated, but we see performance issues because of overhead."
"It'll be better if Oracle Java supports open source technologies, like Node.js."
"The solution could be more user-friendly."
"With respect to the product's consistency, there's a lot of scope that could be introduced in regulator basis."
"Oracle can improve by providing more connection string variations and relay servers on the path to the database."
"The biggest lesson that I have learned from using Oracle products is vendor lock-in."
"Needs improvement in consistency issues with respect to timeframes."
"In terms of improvement, I'd like an automation tool that is lower priced. The core prices are very high."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The platform is highly-priced."
"The price of Oracle Database is quite high compared to other solutions. It has a lot of options, such as security for partitioning and real application clusters. These options are not for free. Once you want to use it, you have to pay extra."
"The price is relative. Licensing costs differ based on how often you'll use the product. They also provide discounts based on the bandwidth or the use cases you want to run on it."
"The tool's price is high. The price is very high in the Asia-Pacific region. The European and US regions don't find the tool's prices high."
"Seeing as a lot of our applications use Oracle, our team has been able to negotiate a better deal."
"The pricing model could be better."
"The Oracle license is quite expensive, and we pay on a yearly basis."
"The license cost of Oracle Database is more expensive, and this could result in some clients moving away from it."
"The product's pricing is very friendly, with no extra costs after the licensing fees."
"Oracle Java DB is a pricey solution."
