Remote teams have secured data and reliable performance with strong onsite support
Pros and Cons
  • "My experience with Dell Business Laptops has been very positive; we have been able to give my end users laptops that do the job, provide the performance needed, and come with a sense of pride in ownership, treating them better than traditional work laptops."

What is our primary use case?

We currently focus on two product lines of Dell Business Laptops: the Pro Plus 5000 series and the Pro Max 7000 series.

We are a remote-first workforce with about 3,000 employees that all work from home, and the advantage of using Dell Business Laptops, especially with their ProSupport Plus support, is that we can have Dell support go to any one of our employees' homes to get the laptop fixed on-site without them having to mail it in to us.

With our remote workforce, having Dell security platform on their machines helps us to manage them remotely and keep them secure because we cannot control them inside a controlled environment, and being able to manage that is a huge advantage for us.

This provides flexibility in being able to work from anywhere while still securing our data and our platforms.

    What is most valuable?

The most valuable features of Dell Business Laptops are reliability and power.

Dell Secure BIOS protects the BIOS for us remotely so that someone cannot flash a bad BIOS on a machine, which helps us assure that the hardware is secure since we do not get to see everything that our remote workers are doing on the machines.

    What needs improvement?

Increasing power and battery life is always going to be beneficial; our users really appreciate the product and have always had no complaints about it. I would recommend continued innovation with new technologies to provide a better experience overall.

For how long have I used the solution?

We have been using Dell Business Laptops for as long as I have been with the company. I moved to the company about four years ago, and they were Dell Business Laptops when I came in here, so I have no idea how long they have actually been using Dell.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Since switching to Dell Business Laptops, our users have experienced all-day battery life and the power in the platform to do their jobs daily without any stress as far as stress on the machines that keep it from performing.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

We are a remote-first workforce with about 3,000 employees that all work from home, and the advantage of using Dell Business Laptops, especially with their ProSupport Plus support, is that we can have Dell support go to any one of our employees' homes to get the laptop fixed on-site without them having to mail it in to us.

How are customer service and support?

I do have experience with the customer support.

I would rate Dell's support about an eight; we often have to send Dell contracted technicians to go fix remote users, and those technicians have been able to respond and quite often fix the issue right away for them.

Dell overall has done a really good job with their sales teams; my internal sales rep has been great at getting me what I need when I need it and providing options during supply chain issues, suggesting new alternatives that still meet our needs and have been very responsive.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We have not considered any other brands because Dell Business Laptops have done a great job of meeting all the needs for my company.

We have not felt the need to evaluate any others.

    What was our ROI?

Last year, we migrated their Dell Plus line over to the AMD platform chipset, which resulted in cost savings while still providing a great user experience for their work.

We saved about $200 per machine doing that.

What other advice do I have?

My top priorities when selecting laptops for my organization are power, battery life, and also aesthetics; we appreciate the aesthetics.

One of my top priorities is power, because we are a developer company.

I would say that Dell Business Laptops have done a great job of supporting the products that they create; if you want a product that has proven to be reliable and has a great support system, Dell Business Laptops will get you up and running as fast as possible.

My experience with Dell Business Laptops has been very positive; we have been able to give my end users laptops that do the job, provide the performance needed, and come with a sense of pride in ownership, treating them better than traditional work laptops. I would rate this review a 9.

Durable laptops have supported secure on‑site work and fast support for demanding field teams
    Pros and Cons
    • "My experience with Dell Business Laptops is usually great, especially for their sturdiness, durability, and with all the encryption methods."
    • "I have a scenario with some of the models, specifically the gray color laptops, like the Dell Latitude 5420 and 5430 models, where the paint of the laptops is peeling off."

What is our primary use case?

My main use case for Dell Business Laptops includes end-user computing and for executives. Most of the use case will be for software developing and for Outlook and Word processing and Excel processing and for presentation purposes.

    What is most valuable?

The best features Dell Business Laptops offer include the sturdiness and durability of the business laptop and also the customer care approach towards business users and quick resolution when there is an issue with the hardware or the software.

For sturdiness, since we are from the construction company and from L&T Metro, we visit different types of sites and different environments, and because of the sturdiness and the durability, Dell Business Laptops last longer. The customer care team understands the issue of the customer thoroughly with the questions and they process quickly when compared to other OEMs.

Dell is evolving with all the features, including removable USB-C ports. They have tied up with the Snapdragon X1 processor for the battery backup, which is very helpful for the business executives during travel. The TPM chip inside Dell for BitLocker encryption helps business customers protect their data in case of laptop loss.

Depending upon the budget of the customer, Dell is optimizing the hardware and recommending hardware that can be helpful for the organization within the budget limits.

    What needs improvement?

I have a scenario with some of the models, specifically the gray color laptops, like the Dell Latitude 5420 and 5430 models, where the paint of the laptops is peeling off. This cosmetic issue needs to be resolved as every laptop from around 100 that we procured two years back has the same issue. We have informed Dell about this issue; however, it is not a major issue as most of the laptops from other models are good, but the gray models 5420 and 5430 have paint issues.

On the cosmetic side, this needs to be looked into.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

    Dell Business Laptops are stable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Dell Business Laptops' scalability is very much high.

How are customer service and support?

The customer support from Dell is highly appreciated. I would rate the customer support a nine on a scale of 1 to 10.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We previously used other solutions but did not switch completely; we continued with Dell alongside other OEMs and switched back 100% to Dell because of the support.

    What was our ROI?

I would go with all the options specified regarding return on investment.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

My experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing is that they are comparatively competitive.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

We evaluated other options, including Lenovo ThinkPad and HP, but after checking all the options, we came back to Dell for better support and durability.

What other advice do I have?

I am referring to on-premises deployment where the laptops are managed and used. During the theft of laptops, these security features become essential. Most desktops that are missing during theft cases cannot retrieve data without the passwords and encryption features on the laptops.

I would tell another IT leader or buyer who is on the fence about choosing Dell for their commercial fleet to go for Dell without hesitation.

My experience with Dell Business Laptops is usually great, especially for their sturdiness, durability, and with all the encryption methods. I appreciate how Dell is developing and evaluating their laptops for business needs, and their customer support is great for the quick resolution of hardware and software issues. I would prefer to go with Dell without any questions if they continue to do so.

Dell Business Laptops have not much supported my organization's hybrid workforce because we work on-premises, not in a hybrid model.

We are currently using Dell Latitude 5450, Dell Pro 5400, 5420, 5430, and 7000 series laptops.

When I chose Dell Business Laptops for my organization, the specific challenge I was trying to address was durability.

I advise others looking into using Dell Business Laptops to prefer Dell because they are a business leader like other OEMs, and I would go with them without hesitation due to their competitive costs and customer support.

I have given this review a rating of nine out of ten.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

    On-premises

Reliable laptops have supported long-term server access, travel work, and office productivity
    Pros and Cons
    • "If you need a stable and good performance laptop, you can rely much on Dell Business Laptops because for the last several years, we have seen very less downtime and very less problems."
    • "The challenge is always that Dell Business Laptops should meet the user's requirement and be under budget."

What is our primary use case?

I use Dell Business Laptops to connect my servers and for word processing and internet browsing. Dell Business Laptops are majorly used for connecting our servers, and additionally for browsing, emails, and word processing with PowerPoint application presentations.

The laptop provides good backup, battery backup, and a great experience working with it. It never hangs and works perfectly for my purpose. It helps in our office as well as at home.

    What is most valuable?

The main valuable features are reliability and stability. Time-to-time updates notify me about my machine status and operating system. I have seen very less downtime on Dell Business Laptops, which makes me comfortable working. The laptop is really helping in so many presentations. Proper updates make it better and always help to improve it. Further improvement could include longer battery life.

The main benefit is that it saves our IT support cost, as the laptop works for a longer period of time. When I am traveling somewhere, it has helped me to easily log in from anywhere, so that helps us to respond quickly and resolve daily issues. The main advantages are user satisfaction and cost-saving. If you need a stable and good performance laptop, you can rely much on Dell Business Laptops because for the last several years, we have seen very less downtime and very less problems.

For example, I have been using a Dell Latitude 3480 model for a long period of time, and it is still working. It never gets down. The main factors are reliability, stability, and cost saving.

    What needs improvement?

The challenge is always that Dell Business Laptops should meet the user's requirement and be under budget.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Dell Business Laptops for 12 years now.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

If hardware devices are responding properly with less downtime, then Dell Business Laptops never hampers your workflow. That is what I think is very useful, and I cannot recall any significant issues that would suggest otherwise.

How are customer service and support?

Customer support is fine, but I have not had to remember calling them because for a long period of time, Dell Business Laptops have been running properly without requiring any support.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

The previous laptop was a Lenovo, which was also fine, but we found a little price benefit in Dell Business Laptops. That is why we switched to it.

    What was our ROI?

It is not directly saving the cost, but indirectly, we can say we utilize the amount that we invested.

What other advice do I have?

I would recommend going with Dell Business Laptops if you want a reliable, stable, and good laptop under budget. Priority should always be given to Intel processors because our users work with code that is more compatible with Intel processors. Warranty is also one of the main things which we consider priorities. The Dell Latitude 3480 is a bit old right now, but we also have a new one. We recently bought the Dell XPS 13.

The reliability factor is important. Dell Business Laptops have in-built security in the operating system. The main thing is that Dell Business Laptops should be more stable and provide reliability. Overall, the pricing is reasonable and good. I would suggest trying to maintain quality and better pricing. The overall sentiment of this review is positive.

Light laptops have boosted hybrid productivity and support smooth virtual machine work
    Pros and Cons
    • "To another IT buyer or leader who is on the fence about choosing Dell Business Laptops for their commercial fleet, I would say that the process was easy, the price point for contracts was good, and it was overall a good purchase."
    • "To improve Dell Business Laptops, I would like to see more ports on them, such as additional plug-ins."

What is our primary use case?

We chose to use Dell Business Laptops in our organization to address the challenge of having the most customer-friendly and easy-to-use machines across the entire base.

When selecting laptops for my organization, my top priorities are the convenience of using them and ensuring that they meet all the requirements.

Dell Business Laptops support our organization's hybrid workforce by being mostly cloud-based, so we have both the cloud and on-station options, which easily integrates with our system.

    What is most valuable?

The most valuable features I have found include how easy it is to work with virtual machines and how they connect, especially since they are zero-client models; they work really well with what we are trying to accomplish.

Since deploying Dell Business Laptops, I can share measurable outcomes such as productivity improvements, with people being able to use them everywhere and experiencing minimal downtime.

    What needs improvement?

To improve Dell Business Laptops, I would like to see more ports on them, such as additional plug-ins.

On a scale of one to ten, I would rate Dell Business Laptops an eight; as I mentioned, some improvements would involve ports and design, but overall, they are good.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been working in my current field for seven years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Since using Dell Business Laptops, my end users have experienced positive feedback; people appreciate them and share comments about how easy they are to use.

How are customer service and support?

In summary of my experience with Dell Business Laptops, it has been a good experience; customer support was very accessible when we had to reach out while the laptops were under warranty, making it easy to get them fixed if there was an issue.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

I chose Dell Business Laptops over other brands because of the price point and because they met the needs that we had.

What other advice do I have?

If I were recommending Dell Business Laptops to a peer, I would say that the model we have is thin, portable, and light, so it does not feel like you are carrying a heavy device when you are moving around; overall, it is a good model.

To another IT buyer or leader who is on the fence about choosing Dell Business Laptops for their commercial fleet, I would say that the process was easy, the price point for contracts was good, and it was overall a good purchase. I would rate this product an eight out of ten.

Reliable laptops have enabled long-term mobile work with strong security and quick support
    Pros and Cons
    • "Dell Business Laptops have longevity that you can't beat."

What is our primary use case?

I am primarily on the server side when selecting laptops for my organization, but for my own needs, I require something that will connect to what I need. I need it to run fast, and I need to actually have battery life because quite often I'm working in a data center where there's not necessarily a power plug. It has to have longevity in that aspect where I can easily transition from my desk to walking downstairs with it into the data center to troubleshoot server infrastructure and environments.

My organization has been using Dell Business Laptops since before I started with them, which has been over 18 years.

      What is most valuable?

One feature I have found most valuable is the unified ports on Dell Business Laptops. Right now, the one I have has just USB-C or Thunderbolt ports, so the ability to just plug in my Dell monitor, which is my dock and everything, means it's instantly I'm on the hardwire and everything is all connected. I don't have to worry about it, and it charges the laptop without me having to have a secondary charging cable. That's really nice.

The security features of Dell Business Laptops, particularly the BIOS password and setting, is all really nice and secure. I appreciate the way that if you do forget the BIOS password, and I'm speaking from past experience, you used to be able to call Dell, give them the correct code and if you gave them the correct business information too, they could help you get back into it. If you couldn't match any of that, they would not help you. That was a really great security feature because people forget passwords, they fat finger things, and you don't want to be locked out of the BIOS because then you can't update it.

That's actually one of the reasons I have Dell Business Laptops instead of a Dell desktop now. I need to actually be mobile and work where I need to. Because I work on servers, I have to have a secure connection. I can't be working on just a personal device and connecting to servers with that sensitive data. I've got to use a provided laptop that is secure with the proper controls. Dell Business Laptops help us do that.

      What needs improvement?

I personally like tablets, so it would be nice to see a model of Dell Business Laptops that's a tablet with the detachable keyboard, inspired by Microsoft's Surface. I think that'd be kind of cool to see, but these are just ideas.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Dell Business Laptops for about 18 years in my main area of expertise, regardless of the company or job title.

How are customer service and support?

My experience with Dell Business Laptops is great. I worked on them from a hardware support perspective, so when we are calling Dell, we'd get parts in, and we'd replace them ourselves. We also have had Dell techs come out and do the replacements. Either way, it's great. We've sent them in for replacements, and the turnaround time has always been excellent for us. They just work.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I will admit we did try another brand of Dell Business Laptops. With the repairability and the reliability, it just wasn't up to the same standard, so we actually ended up staying with Dell overall. We did pilot them for a bit, but the other brand just didn't stand up to them.

I know we had one person who wanted to switch over to a different brand of laptop, and we actually let them for a bit, and they ended up three years later with the laptop dead. The Dell Business Laptop we had was still running. We actually got them to convert over to Dell Business Laptops and they've been using that for at least seven years when I left the area that was working with laptops primarily, and they were still running strong with it. Dell Business Laptops have longevity that you can't beat.

They switched to Dell Business Laptops a long time ago, but when we did try the pilot program for the other brand, it was the fact they didn't last as long. We've had Dell Business Laptops that have been in service for over ten years and they keep running along. Most you do is replace the battery if they don't charge it properly. Those are old laptops, and we know old batteries don't last very well, but popping a new battery in, and it's good as new.

What other advice do I have?

Of course, if you'd ask me the model number of Dell Business Laptops I am currently using, I could not tell you off the top of my head. I know it is one of the higher-end ones, I just can't remember it off the top of my head.

The specific challenges or needs we were trying to address when we chose Dell Business Laptops was reliability. I did work desktop support for a while, so for us, it was reliability, it was the repairability, and it was the fact that we could get the support we needed when we needed it.

Dell Business Laptops align pretty with my organization's needs. We've been using them for over eighteen years, so they have to align pretty closely.

The overall rating for Dell Business Laptops is a ten out of ten. I've used them my entire time there, and I've never had a complaint. As long as you match the right model to your needs, they're perfectly great.

If I were recommending Dell Business Laptops to a peer, I would point out the reliability and the batteries. You can swap those batteries out and put a new one in. Dell seems to always have them available, which is nice. Some companies change the battery every model, but Dell doesn't necessarily do that. They're available when you need them.

I would ask another IT leader or buyer how often they want to replace the device. My experience with Dell Business Laptops is they just continue forward and keep moving. Replacing the whole device is expensive, not only in hardware cost, but also in the user's time to move all their data, settings, and customizations. It's costly.

My overall rating for Dell Business Laptops is a ten.

Long-term reliable laptops have supported diverse roles with strong service and screen quality
      Pros and Cons
      • "I choose Dell Business Laptops over other brands I was considering because of the quality and the service I am receiving from the partners and from Dell itself."
      • "I think there has not been any cost-saving effect or productivity benefit from using these laptops."

What is our primary use case?

When selecting laptops for my organization, our top priorities depend on three categories which I purchase: one for the main role in my organization, the headquarters, engineers, and for all other uses.

The specific challenges that I address when I choose Dell Business Laptops depend on the use case. For engineering, it is mostly the availability of high performance and reduced weight. For highly responsible tasks, it will be weight. For usual uses, it is the screen and mobility.

How has it helped my organization?

I cannot share any measurable outcomes since deploying Dell Business Laptops, such as cost-saving, productivity improvements, or satisfaction, because we deploy them using our own software, not Dell software.

      What is most valuable?

I choose Dell Business Laptops over other brands I was considering because of the quality and the service I am receiving from the partners and from Dell itself.

The features I find most valuable for the organization are the quality, the screen, and the service.

The security features that Dell Business Laptops have do not apply to my uses because the laptops I buy are not connected to any network, and security usually comes from third-party software.

      What needs improvement?

I do not know right now what can be improved for Dell Business Laptops, as there is nothing at the moment.

Even my users have some complaints; some of them are complaining about the weight.

For how long have I used the solution?

My organization has been using Dell Business Laptops for more than 15 years.

      What was our ROI?

I think there has not been any cost-saving effect or productivity benefit from using these laptops.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

At some point, we changed our purchases because we are buying HP also.

What other advice do I have?

I am currently reviewing the business line of Dell Business Laptops, but I do not recall exactly because they are changing their models currently.

I would rate Dell Business Laptops about nine on a scale from one to ten.

If I were recommending Dell Business Laptops to a peer or a colleague, I would say it offers excellent service and an excellent product. You purchase it, give it to a customer, and you do not hear from them again.

I would tell another IT leader who is also going to buy laptops for his company the same thing. For a user and for an IT buyer, it is the same, and from the point of TCO, it is excellent.

Reliable laptops have supported seamless provisioning and long-term use for all business users
      Pros and Cons
      • "In summary, my experience with Dell Business Laptops is that they are easy to use and effective in a business environment."
      • "I think one area for improvement is that Dell Command Update provides the opportunity to install drivers, but sometimes when I provision laptops with InTune, it should install everything during the provisioning process instead of requiring me to install drivers separately."

What is our primary use case?

Dell Business Laptops are an excellent fit for our working environment and integrate seamlessly with InTune provisioning and our business requirements. When laptops arrive, we conduct thorough testing to verify all software functions as expected before deploying them to the business.

For a specific example of my day-to-day work, when a new employee joins the company, I provision the laptop with InTune and install all required applications. Sometimes I need to use Dell Command Update to update all drivers before deploying it once it is ready.

My top priorities when selecting laptops for our organization include ensuring people can use different tools for digital marketing and printing. We need to run tools such as Quadient, Adobe Acrobat, and Illustrator side by side. We test whether the laptop is compatible to run all programs and verify that we are getting the expected output.

How has it helped my organization?

Dell Business Laptops have positively impacted our organization, as we have deployed these laptops for all production plant and office users. We have not had any complaints so far, and the performance has been working positively with our organization.

Since we have always used Dell Business Laptops, I cannot make a comparison with other brands.

Dell Business Laptops impact my IT support efficiency and overall business continuity as they have been used in the company before I joined, and they are highly productive. We do not have any competitors in mind at this time. Everyone is satisfied with the output we are receiving from Dell Business Laptops.

      What is most valuable?

The best features Dell Business Laptops offer include Dell Command Update. Sometimes when I provision a laptop, it will not install all required drivers. I can access Dell Command Update and install all drivers. For troubleshooting, I also use these commands to fix any hardware or software driver issues for the laptops.

I had a Lenovo laptop in the past when I was studying, and I noticed that the battery life for Dell Business Laptops is significantly better. Everything is much easier on the Dell laptops.

      What needs improvement?

I think one area for improvement is that Dell Command Update provides the opportunity to install drivers, but sometimes when I provision laptops with InTune, it should install everything during the provisioning process instead of requiring me to install drivers separately. That is one thing that can be improved.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Dell Business Laptops for the last two years. The company was using these laptops before I joined the organization.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Dell Business Laptops have a good lifecycle and excellent battery life, making them very stable.

How are customer service and support?

Dell customer support for Dell Business Laptops is excellent. Whenever I have a ticket or encounter a hardware issue that I cannot resolve at the IT support desk, I open a ticket with them and receive immediate support within one to three business days.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

      No previous solutions were used.

      How was the initial setup?

Dell Business Laptops are deployed in our organization using a private cloud infrastructure.

      What was our ROI?

Dell Business Laptops have a strong lifecycle value. I purchased Dell 7420 models approximately five years ago, and we are about to refresh the hardware. However, we still have employees working with these 7420s without experiencing any issues, demonstrating excellent durability and longevity.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

Before choosing Dell Business Laptops, we evaluated HP, Lenovo, and Dell, and we selected Dell as our preferred solution.

What other advice do I have?

I rate Dell Business Laptops a nine out of ten. I chose this rating because Dell Business Laptops work well with our business requirements, although some improvements could be made.

Regarding Dell Business Laptops' AI capabilities, I have not used that feature.

I work as an IT Support Procurement Analyst, and my role is to conduct vendor communication and generate purchase orders when orders are finalized, sending them to the vendor and processing invoice payments. I am reviewing Dell Latitude models.

If I were recommending Dell Business Laptops to a peer, I would share a story about a friend who was studying in college and needed a laptop. I gave her the recommendation to purchase a Dell laptop because it is easy to manage, handle, and troubleshoot, and Dell customer service is genuinely helpful when needed.

In summary, my experience with Dell Business Laptops is that they are easy to use and effective in a business environment. They help you work efficiently, and you will not encounter many issues. If you do encounter anything, even when buying for personal use, you can easily reach out to Dell customer service, and they can assist you immediately. A reboot resolves most issues.

My advice to others considering Dell Business Laptops is that they should contact Dell and obtain a test laptop. They can provision it according to their environment and verify whether it works according to their business requirements before making a final commitment. On a scale of one to ten, I would rate Dell Business Laptops a nine.

Reliable business laptops have reduced support tickets and freed time for field engineering work
      Pros and Cons
      • "Since deploying Dell Business Laptops, I notice measurable outcomes as a one-man team in my company, which means I have less support work and I'm more on-field, focusing on buying things or looking at other tools."
      • "If I could improve Dell Business Laptops in any way, it would be the price point, but that's not Dell's fault, that's the market."

What is our primary use case?

Dell Business Laptops are primarily used in my organization for engineering and design, and then for business support, such as normal business, HR, and finance.

How has it helped my organization?

Since deploying Dell Business Laptops, I notice measurable outcomes as a one-man team in my company, which means I have less support work and I'm more on-field, focusing on buying things or looking at other tools. Before, it was very much, "Thomas, my laptop's not working. Thomas, my laptop's freezing." Now, my work is different, and I'm a lot more efficient because Dell isn't causing a chokehold on the amount of work I have to do.

      What is most valuable?

The most valuable feature of Dell Business Laptops for me has to be the support features, so if it breaks, there's ProSupport at the back end. This means I can image the laptop from when they are, so if it crashes, I can image it back from when they stopped using it.

      What needs improvement?

If I could improve Dell Business Laptops in any way, it would be the price point, but that's not Dell's fault, that's the market. However, the price point is the only thing, as moving from Lenovo to Dell, what I've grown to understand is that they try to make it as cheap as possible depending on the amount you're buying. Through learning about business use and these courses, I've understood that it's not really about the price point, just about how many I buy and how much I buy them for.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Dell Business Laptops at my current company for a year, as I came in and replaced what was previously Lenovo with Dell.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I rarely work with Dell's customer support for Dell Business Laptops because they are easy to use, but whenever I've had an issue, for example, blue screening, they are very easy to take me through the process of just resetting the laptop from scratch and then re-imaging them with our business tools.

I find Dell Business Laptops to be easy in terms of reliability and speed; we do have four years of support, but they last for five to six years, depending on if it's for engineering or design.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Dell Business Laptops are supporting my AI workloads because changes are a really difficult thing within the construction industry, but whoever does use AI finds it very easy to use. This year we're trying to bring more AI tools within the engineering workspace, and it's not easy because construction is not an industry where adoption is easy to do, but Dell Business Laptops do support this.

How are customer service and support?

I started using AMD GPU chips this year, and multitasking has been unreal on them; I don't experience any issues with freezing. We use Autodesk, AutoCAD, and Plant 3D, and there are no problems whatsoever. Ever since I've moved to AMD, there have not been any crashes, so I'm satisfied as an IT analyst.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

      I previously used Lenovo.

      How was the initial setup?

Since deploying Dell Business Laptops, I notice measurable outcomes as a one-man team in my company, which means I have less support work and I'm more on-field, focusing on buying things or looking at other tools. Before, it was very much, "Thomas, my laptop's not working. Thomas, my laptop's freezing." Now, my work is different, and I'm a lot more efficient because Dell isn't causing a chokehold on the amount of work I have to do.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

Besides Lenovo and Dell, I evaluated HP; there's HP in the company right now, and the same thing happens with them, crashing whenever they're multitasking. With Dell Business Laptops, it doesn't happen for some reason; they are very easy to use and very easy to understand. The only issues I've ever had are with blue screening, and since I've always used Dell, even in college, support has been very easy for me from the get-go.

What other advice do I have?

The pricing of Dell Business Laptops themselves is a bit pricey, just because of AI, and they are a bit expensive, but because I work in engineering and construction, it means that they're easy to use.

If I were recommending Dell Business Laptops to a peer, I would emphasize convenience, efficiency, and ease of use, as Dell is well-known and allows customers and end users to feel safe within their environment wherever they're working.

Dell Business Laptops support the organization's hybrid workforce and remote work as well. What I've learned in the forum is that you can also remotely sort out issues for those on the field, which is particularly important in my very massive on-the-field industry. I am giving this review a rating of 9 out of 10.

Daily teamwork has improved with reliable performance, but design and upgrade options need work
      Pros and Cons
      • "Dell Business Laptops have impacted my organization positively as they have evolved much faster in the way they run things."
      • "Dell Business Laptops scalability is not good, typically because of the design where some of the RAM is soldered to the motherboard, which prevents some form of scalability in terms of upgrading the hardware."

What is our primary use case?

My main use case for Dell Business Laptops is value for money and being able to deliver on time. I use Dell Business Laptops on a day-to-day basis, integrating with all Microsoft products and Microsoft Teams.

      What is most valuable?

Dell Business Laptops have impacted my organization positively as they have evolved much faster in the way they run things. Most importantly, they have remained a strong partnership with me for the past eight years. The most direct impact is that they deliver what they actually promise.

      What needs improvement?

Dell Business Laptops can be improved by focusing on reshaping the design and innovating with a lighter and more powerful laptop.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have worked for Illumina for 15 years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Dell Business Laptops are stable without much issue and are able to cater to what my organization actually needs.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Dell Business Laptops scalability is not good, typically because of the design where some of the RAM is soldered to the motherboard, which prevents some form of scalability in terms of upgrading the hardware.

How are customer service and support?

I have no complaints about customer support.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I did not previously use a different solution.

      How was the initial setup?

I did not purchase Dell Business Laptops through the AWS Marketplace; it was actually through a distributor.

      What was our ROI?

I do not see a return on investment and cannot share relevant metrics such as money saved.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Regarding pricing, setup cost, and licensing, Dell has always been one of the more competitive vendors that offer me an all-around price for the laptop, which is generally great.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

I was comparing Dell with HP before choosing Dell Business Laptops.

What other advice do I have?

Dell Business Laptops are pretty average to me, but there was actually a period of time where Dell innovated with a lighter laptop, which helped most of my users on the mobility part. I do not have a tool to rate the NPU and the CPU performance, but as long as the cost is not too high, I am willing to accept that. I am the cost center owner and the decision-maker regarding IT procurement. My top priority when selecting laptops for my organization is cost-effectiveness. The Dell Business Laptops models I am currently using are the PB14 and the PB16 Pro Max. The specific challenge I was trying to address when I chose Dell Business Laptops for my organization was cost. I chose Dell over the other brands I was considering because they are able to deliver what they promise. I currently do not explore the security features of Dell Business Laptops, but I understand it is important to know how they can protect the entire environment. My advice to others looking into using Dell Business Laptops is to go with what your organization actually needs, as the most important aspect is that users need to be happy. I would rate this product seven out of ten.
