Long-term lifecycle focus has improved reliability and repeat orders for business laptops
Pros and Cons
  • "I choose Dell Business Laptops over other brands that may have been considered because I value their performance, reliability, and the fact that my tier one customers love them."
  • "I would not give them a ten because there are certain things that Dell does that is irritating, such as the ports being weak."

What is our primary use case?

My role in IT procurement for business laptops involves purchasing them for resale. My top priorities when selecting laptops for my organizations or my clients are dependability, reliability, and reputation.

I am reviewing Dell Business Laptops' Latitude PC line for business laptops, and I deal with many of the 7430s type of models. I do the bank takeouts, for example, and they standardized on the 7430, 7420s, 7410s, and all those type of models. We're in an i7, i5 environment. We don't go lower than that. Our customers are the tier one brands. Whether it's Royal Bank, it doesn't matter. They want the best of the best and they're entitled.

I have been trying to address specific challenges or needs by choosing Dell Business Laptops for my customers to get away from distribution. Distribution thinks they own the market with Dell Business Laptops products. They think that they have their rights to be in your back pocket.

My business disrupts that because we are the full life cycle environment. We don't just sell new; we sell the takeout of old. We find the homes. We run an adoption agency for used equipment. Our whole environment is finding homes, the right homes for older equipment. We're not here about how can we grow this direction, although that's one part of it. You can't sell it unless you get rid of it, unless you're dealing with a startup who doesn't have anything. But ninety percent of this environment is not dealing with a startup.

How has it helped my organization?

Since deploying Dell Business Laptops, I can say there is less complaining from end users who have switched to them. After deploying Dell Business Laptops, they come back in terms of measurable outcomes. In terms of user satisfaction, they come back, and they're repeat orders.

What is most valuable?

I choose Dell Business Laptops over other brands that may have been considered because I value their performance, reliability, and the fact that my tier one customers love them.

The most valuable features about these laptops include multitasking and the ability to multitask without draining the battery. The CPU and memory perform well even when you want to have fifteen tabs open.

What needs improvement?

Regarding what could be improved about Dell Business Laptops, they're doing a good job. I cannot pinpoint one thing other than AC adapters could get smaller. That would make me happy.

I would not give them a ten because there are certain things that Dell does that is irritating, such as the ports being weak. For example, in a recent partner presentation, they were talking about the newer model now having a USB port that can be interchanged. If you do have a port problem, you can now fix it without having to replace the whole laptop. That was a positive sign for me. This means that if I sell it in the future, I can feel confident that all I have to do is order a bunch of ports, keep them in stock, and my teams can instantly swap it without having to get rid of the laptop.

For how long have I used the solution?

Overall, I have been using Dell Business Laptops for thirty years.

What other advice do I have?

When rating Dell Business Laptops overall on a scale of one to ten with one being worst and ten being best, I appreciate them. Each model has its pluses and minuses for everybody. When you're talking about the top three brands, let's consider HP, Dell, and Lenovo. I appreciate Dell Business Laptops' shells, the outer units, and their screens. I appreciate Lenovo's shelf because you can refurbish it easily. Dell Business Laptops has some models that are easy to scratch, which is a real challenge to try to refurbish. HP is totally disregarded by me because they went with cheap plastic all the way. For me, it's all about how many times I can reuse them. I'm focused on the life cycle management.

If I rated Dell Business Laptops from a one to a ten with ten being best, I would give them a nine.

If I were recommending Dell Business Laptops to a peer or customer, I would say price and performance.

To another IT leader or buyer who's on the fence about choosing Dell Business Laptops for their commercial fleet, I would say buy two, a Lenovo and a Dell Business Laptops, and then try to scratch it. I would expect that Dell Business Laptops would win.

My overall review rating for Dell Business Laptops is nine out of ten.

Fast performance has captured studio ideas instantly and supports complex music projects
Pros and Cons
  • "Since I started using Dell Business Laptops, I have tried other machines, and honestly this one surprised me."

What is our primary use case?

I currently have a music studio where I manage it and mainly distribute what would be the artists' music, essentially serving as the manager.

I mainly use Dell Business Laptops for automated loads and music production, taking advantage of the resources they offer.

I use Dell Business Laptops every day, and especially when I turn the equipment on, it starts up rapidly without wasting time opening projects or programs, which is quite useful because as artists, musicians, and producers, we have ideas and need to capture them quickly. I always carry it with me, and it goes with me everywhere.

    What is most valuable?

Dell Business Laptops offer very good performance, especially when loading a lot of sounds and heavy projects; the RAM that they offer is really good. I use a program called FL Studio, which is complex at a technical level for music production, and it helps me to get benefits that other computers did not offer me. I previously had an Acer with a Ryzen 7 processor, and honestly, it left much to be desired because even though the project did not reach very high CPU usage, the memory was completely full. However, with this upgrade to Dell Business Laptops, the truth is that it gives me power and exceptional performance.

The best features that Dell Business Laptops offer are mainly the price and the performance.

I find the performance of Dell Business Laptops far superior and honestly it is a very admirable technological advancement. When talking about performance, I am referring to the processor, which is super fast, does not freeze, and does not fail, and when it comes to loading heavy projects, I have no problem.

The screen of Dell Business Laptops is a valuable feature due to its resolution and compactness. I really appreciate the resolution of Dell Business Laptops screen, and more than anything, it is quite compact.

    What needs improvement?

Personally, I do not think Dell Business Laptops need improvement; it is something excellent and competitive compared to other machines, and I am satisfied.

I suggest improving the interface of Dell Business Laptops, meaning that it would be great if the system showed itself clearly, immediately indicating that it is a Dell.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have only had Dell Business Laptops for a few months, about six months, even though I already knew the brand.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I find Dell Business Laptops stable and optimized in their daily operation.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

If I need more machines in the future for my studio, I would again choose Dell Business Laptops, as I remember starting music production on an older Dell desktop that was surprisingly fast for its time.

How are customer service and support?

I find Dell Business Laptops support excellent, but I have not needed to use it because the machine has not failed me.

I have not had to use Dell customer support, but I hope it meets my expectations for friendly and efficient service; fortunately, I have not needed it.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

Before choosing Dell Business Laptops, I evaluated options based on internet searches, experience, and reviews from others, and I concluded that this machine is better for me.

    How was the initial setup?

I describe the experience regarding the price of Dell Business Laptops as really good; I purchased it in a department store where the pricing seemed excellent.

    What was our ROI?

I see a return on investment since acquiring Dell Business Laptops, as the price was great and accessibly priced, resulting in incredible returns, making me consider buying future models as they come out.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

I chose Dell Business Laptops because my main challenge was finding a brand that offers 16 GB of RAM with a good Intel processor, optimally meeting my expectations compared to other brands.

My decision to go for Dell was influenced greatly by the competitive advertising and pricing, which fit well within my budget.

What other advice do I have?

Since I started using Dell Business Laptops, I have tried other machines, and honestly this one surprised me. I often recommend it to friends when they ask what computer to buy, and I suggest the same machine that I have.

This improvement would be more personal because with clients, you aim for the speed of having projects ready. Dell Business Laptops do not limit you in terms of taking a long time to deliver projects because they are very fast, eliminating worries about crashes or the computer not handling tasks.

For my music studio, my priorities when selecting laptops are RAM, storage, the processor, and whether it has a mechanical drive or a solid-state drive; these are crucial to my expectations and needs, which are fully met.

The security features that Dell Business Laptops offers do meet my studio's needs, as I am 100% satisfied with the computer being accessible only by me.

A particularly useful security feature in my daily work is the daily password that protects my Dell Business Laptops.

I do not need to suggest other security features at this time; I need to keep working with it before suggesting additional features.

I notice significant productivity improvements since using Dell Business Laptops, which responds quickly and turns on right away, allowing me to capture ideas before they slip away.

If I need more machines in the future for my studio, I would again choose Dell Business Laptops, as I remember starting music production on an older Dell desktop that was surprisingly fast for its time.

My advice for other music studios or professionals considering Dell Business Laptops would be to ensure it meets their needs by testing processing speed, reliability, and overall efficiency in music production tasks, since I have influenced many people to acquire this machine based on my positive experience. My overall rating of this product is 9 out of 10.

Dell has support across the office, and we can call the service provider to come fix and repair our laptop within hours, which gives us very quick response times.

I notice less downtime for our team.

Dell Business Laptops have a hardware platform and software application that can secure governance and security to meet business user requirements.

We exchange our laptops every four years, so Dell offers better corporate prices for the corporation.

They provide a better AI platform for us to develop AI code.

They have a lower cost compared to some of the biggest brands.

    What needs improvement?

I think Dell Business Laptops still have some room for improvement from a cost perspective.

We also evaluated other laptop brands, and Lenovo was part of our consideration.

What other advice do I have?

You could offer a lower-cost version for some basic business users.

I think you need to find the right laptop model for different users because some of them are developers who need high-end laptops, but some users only use it for business systems, like MES, so they only need a lower grade of laptop.

    • "Our clients now feel safer, since they know that we have very secure computers where we can store both their private information and information about their company."
    • "I believe Dell Business Laptops could improve by lowering the price of the computers without sacrificing the security that has earned them recognition as a good brand."

What is our primary use case?

Dell Business Laptops serve as the main solution in my company for different business and corporate activities. I have used them to increase productivity, achieve a higher level of security, and implement very advanced sustainability in recent business and corporate activities.

How has it helped my organization?

Dell Business Laptops have positively impacted my organization by achieving very high improvements in security, both for the company's information and for the information of each client we handle.

We have reduced security breaches within the company thanks to these improvements, since before we did have frequent information leaks, and currently there have been no leaks thanks to the security provided by Dell Business Laptops. End users have experienced less information leakage, which was our main problem. Our clients now feel safer, since they know that we have very secure computers where we can store both their private information and information about their company.

We have increased positive surveys about the company's security by around 75% thanks to Dell Business Laptops. Dell Business Laptops have had a very positive impact on IT support efficiency and business continuity in my company, since we receive an almost immediate response.

    What is most valuable?

The best features that I have found in Dell Business Laptops are their productivity and the security they offer. They are devices designed for daily use and frequent transportation, and their connectivity is also valuable, since some have USB A, Ethernet, USB C, and others have functions that allow the IT department to manage and configure the devices. They also have warranty and support options for businesses.

Since the computers are personal and contain confidential information, these laptops have fingerprint readers, facial recognition, and TPMs to protect the information, making them quite safe to use.

    What needs improvement?

I believe Dell Business Laptops could improve by lowering the price of the computers without sacrificing the security that has earned them recognition as a good brand. It would be beneficial if the laptops had a slightly lower price. However, based on quality and price, I would say the pricing is fair, because they really are very secure laptops.

Standardized laptops have supported hybrid work and improved user satisfaction and security
    Pros and Cons
    • "If I were recommending Dell Business Laptops to a peer, I would say the quality of Dell Business Laptops is exceptional."
    • "I wish Dell would bring back the option to upgrade the memory; some of the new models don't allow you to upgrade the RAM because it's soldered on, so you get what you get."

What is our primary use case?

Our current company has been using Dell Business Laptops for 13 years, ever since I've been there. Regarding the security features of Dell Business Laptops, we now use Microsoft Defender after leaving Sophos.

Dell Business Laptops have supported our organization's hybrid force, and I can see the difference from before with HPs and Acers; we've now been a full-blown environment of Dell. When we chose Dell Business Laptops for our organization, we wanted to keep them up to date and standardized.

Right now, we're currently using the Latitudes, but we're going to be using the new Pro soon.

How has it helped my organization?

Since deploying Dell Business Laptops, there have been improvements and satisfaction of the customers.

    What is most valuable?

Efficiency, speed, and storage are my top priorities in selecting laptops when I choose them.

Using the new Dell Business Laptops that we're getting has allowed us to support what users want; we have to make sure they're happy with the quality we have currently buying, make sure we have enough quantity for them, the speed, make sure it doesn't lag down, and it's efficient.

The security features of Dell Business Laptops, including the biometrics, the thumb press, and the cameras, are good quality. Since switching to Dell Business Laptops, our end users have experienced everything.

    What needs improvement?

I wish Dell would bring back the option to upgrade the memory; some of the new models don't allow you to upgrade the RAM because it's soldered on, so you get what you get.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been working in my current field for 23 years.

What other advice do I have?

I chose Dell over other brands because of the quality.

If I were recommending Dell Business Laptops to a peer, I would say the quality of Dell Business Laptops is exceptional. People want good quality products, and Dell has improved a lot over the years, making customers happy. I tell another IT leader who's on the fence about choosing Dell for their commercial fleet that Dell is the way to go.

My experience with Dell Business Laptops is one of satisfaction. I give Dell Business Laptops a rating of 10 out of 10.

Reliable lightweight laptop has boosted multitasking for data pipelines and client VDIs
    Pros and Cons
    • "When I switched from a Lenovo ThinkPad to a Dell 14 Pro for my present project, the time it took me to complete a task improved significantly."
    • "One thing is that sometimes if I charge and use my Dell Business Laptop continuously for three to four hours, it will heat up."

What is our primary use case?

I have been using Dell Business Laptops for the past five years. During my college, I used a Dell Inspiron 5310, and currently, working at Cognizant, they have provided me a Dell 14 Pro, which I am currently using for my project.

My office Dell Business Laptop, I use for mostly data engineering to build pipelines, to monitor pipelines, to run Python scripts, and using a virtual machine. My personal Dell Business Laptop, I use for learning, coding, creating dashboards for my personal projects, and sometimes entertainment.

    What is most valuable?

One of the best features Dell Business Laptops offer is the reliability of this laptop, how lightweight it is, and how easy it is to carry. In my current project, I am using two client VDIs. It allows me to multitask from different VDIs, and it will not cause any heating issues. I can use my laptop continuously for four to five hours without any heating issues.

I appreciate how easy it is to increase the RAM and how easily I can replace the SSD to maintain my work and also extend the working condition of the laptop.

The refresh rate of my Dell Business Laptop is very high. The screen display is quite significantly improved since my previous laptop. The battery capacity is also increased. I used to travel through a cab from my home to office, and when there is an emergency, I used to work while traveling in the cab. If there is almost 60% charging, I can easily work for another one and a half hour to two hours and multitask at the same time.

They are strong and resistant. Once I poured a glass of water on the laptop by mistake, but I could easily clean it with a cloth, and there was no effect on the keyboard or the operating system.

The user interface is straightforward, and anyone who has minimal knowledge on how to use a laptop or how to control these computers can easily switch to Dell Business Laptops and work as soon as possible.

    What needs improvement?

One thing is that sometimes if I charge and use my Dell Business Laptop continuously for three to four hours, it will heat up. The cooling of the system takes quite a long time compared to other laptops. Additionally, the cost factor is a consideration, as other company laptops providing similar features are somewhat cheaper than Dell Business Laptops. I think both of these criteria are somewhat drawbacks.

The build quality, the design, and the software's processing are all fine except for the cooling and the price factor.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I previously used a Lenovo ThinkPad, but since it was not durable for my current project and current tasks, I requested a change to another laptop, and they gave me a Dell 14 Pro. Since then, the working of the laptop and the speed at which I am completing tasks have gradually increased significantly.

    What was our ROI?

When I switched from a Lenovo ThinkPad to a Dell 14 Pro for my present project, the time it took me to complete a task improved significantly. The amount of time I used to sit in front of the laptop has reduced because of the speed of Dell Business Laptops. It reduced strain in my eyes and allowed me to work on some other personal items and learn new things because of the fast processing of this laptop. I have already got my return on investment, and I am enjoying the profit of this laptop.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Pricing was good, and for my personal Dell Business Laptop, when I bought my Dell, they also gave me a lifetime Microsoft free account, so it was very useful to use Microsoft Word and PowerPoint for my projects. It was very cost-friendly for my personal laptop.

What other advice do I have?

One recent task which I am working on with my Dell 14 Pro for work is in my project where we are using legacy systems such as Informatica, and we are transforming it into GCP BigQuery. I am currently developing DAGs which will connect to Redshift, transform data, and load it into BigQuery.

I have two client VDIs on my Dell Business Laptops. Previously, I had another version of a laptop that was not Dell, I believe it was a Lenovo. In that laptop, it did not support multitasking. Later, I requested my team to change my laptop, and they changed it to a Dell 14 Pro. Since then, I can work on my personal Windows and also client VDI without any restriction and no heating issues from the laptop.

In my daily personal use, I use a Dell Inspiron 5310, which I purchased four years ago. It has been good, but I changed the SSD recently because there was a motherboard issue. It was fine for four years.

If I keep a full charge, I can easily work for two to three hours before I need to plug in the charger again, even when I multitask and work on client VDI.

I am not sure of the technical terms regarding the security aspect, but I think in my Dell Business Laptop, the security is quite standard as we are working on client VDI.

I would rate this product an 8 out of 10.
