Monitoring has transformed internet visibility and speeds up resolving external service issues
ThousandEyes needs to specify unit consumption forecasting or scaling testing and deeper app analytics. It needs deeper out-of-the-box Layer 7 code or database-level insights. Additionally, it should unify the GUI with broader Cisco platforms and flatten the learning curve, adding better correlation with local laptop system metrics such as endpoint depth, CPU, RAM, or processes. ThousandEyes isn't designed to be a full-blown SNMP monitoring tool for on-premises infrastructure. While it tracks network paths effectively, it doesn't provide deep local device telemetry such as switch port buffer utilization, fan status, or power supply health. For full internal device monitoring, you'll still need to pair it with traditional tools such as SolarWinds or Cisco Catalyst Center.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"VIAVI is very strong when it comes to packet analysis, especially with SDN, ACI, and Cx."
"The solution's most valuable feature is the path analyzer, which identifies the node causing the errors."
"ThousandEyes has positively impacted my organization by raising the customer experience and positive feedback by over 70% due to the complex situation with local service providers, allowing me to resolve user feedback and issues which enhanced the user experience significantly."
"The authentication overall - including to the VPN and LAN - is excellent."
"Overall, I would rate ThousandEyes nine out of ten."
"One feature I liked is end-user monitoring."
"ThousandEyes actually advanced the troubleshooting part and the monitoring of the devices, or I would say the management of the devices with monitoring and to identify the root cause."
"The solution's most valuable feature is network security."
"The company provides excellent service."

Cons

"VIAVI needs to include a Simple Network Monitoring Protocol (SNMP) for end-to-end monitoring solutions."
"I chose eight out of ten because of the lack of objective performance data."
"Stability issues are present in the solution."
"Regarding the user interface, I appreciate dropdowns, but I prefer a guided experience where the interface explains itself instead of requiring extensive searching to reach a point."
"An area where ThousandEyes can be improved is in providing more in-depth packet analysis; we've found instances where ThousandEyes indicates everything is okay, but it's actually not."
"Presently, it lacks the ability to integrate with other Cisco products."
"It would be nice if the solution covered other areas like server monitoring."
"It was kind of a beta experience, I would say. It was not fully developed at that time; it looked like an unfinished project with many gaps."
"Once I fully use the tool 100%, I'm sure I would have something to critique, however, for now, I'm happy with it."
