Manages extensive utility billing applications efficiently with trusted performance and robust support
Currently, I have a very good experience with Oracle Multitenant. The pluggable database is easy to handle and manage, sharing resources efficiently. However, Oracle license pricing is an issue due to its high cost. Our organization is compelled to reduce CPU usage by seventy CPUs because the Oracle license cost depends on it.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"It has a programming language so anything that we require for Selenium is all available there."
"The solution's capability to handle large data sets, large volumes and indexing are the most valuable features."
"Able to write queries more efficiently and the management of data has become better and easier."
"Our ROI has been a 600% growth in stock price, one of the biggest increase rates for any of the global top 50 companies."
"The additional value of having Java inside the Oracle database is all the security that is applied to an Oracle database will be enforced on Java's stored procedures as well."
"It's very clever."
"The stability is awesome because it is all supported by Oracle database and Oracle relational database management system, which watches very carefully all the processes that are running, making it very stable and very secure."
"There have been no issues in relation to stability. We've never really had do to any recoveries. It is very stable."
"I would rate the scalability a ten out of ten. Our clients are mostly medium and enterprise businesses."
"The plug/unplug is the great feature, that doesn't even need the Multitenant option."
"Our primary use of Oracle includes writing queries for retrieving data for customers without worrying about the customer ID, user ID, as it is automatically connected to each query."
"The database becomes pluggable. Inside this container is called a pluggable database and each application contains this pluggable database inside Multitenant. We can then share resources like control files, memory, etc. This lets you stop and start each application without impacting the others. This resource sharing is the most valuable feature"
"There are only benefits to using this solution."
"The analytics tool, Oracle Analytics Server (OAS), is the main important component of this solution and in the analytics part, the VPD handles all the necessary functions effectively."
"Oracle Multitenant reduces operational costs because it licenses the root container for multiple databases, costing less than traditional non-CDB databases, which results in financial savings for the company."
"I have used it for various clients and it's been working like a breeze."

Cons

"The tool might be integrated, but we see performance issues because of overhead."
"With respect to the product's consistency, there's a lot of scope that could be introduced in regulator basis."
"The biggest lesson that I have learned from using Oracle products is vendor lock-in."
"Needs improvement in consistency issues with respect to timeframes."
"In terms of improvement, I'd like an automation tool that is lower priced. The core prices are very high."
"The solution could be more user-friendly."
"Oracle can improve by providing more connection string variations and relay servers on the path to the database."
"The solution should continue to keep updating and improving the Java language."
"Even though we say Unplug Plug Upgrade is a very good feature and it does work, we are seeing that sometimes it takes longer than what we expect for larger databases."
"The user interface for this solution can be made better."
"There are many functions where changes are not easy to implement, and we try to avoid modifying these areas due to security issues and the complexity of maintaining them."
"The Oracle Database support is not very good, unfortunately."
"Oracle has a lot of work to do with Multitenant because it's a new feature."
"The main area for improvement is regarding backup and recovery. Today, it’s difficult to set a pluggable database to a former point in time because flashback pluggable database doesn’t exist."
"It needs to have some more granular control over IO resource allocation."
"Stability and full feature coverage will come with future release."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Oracle Java DB is a pricey solution."
"The product's pricing is very friendly, with no extra costs after the licensing fees."
"For me, I will go with it if I have the budget. Some features are nicer than before, but at the end of the day, you always have a limited budget. I prefer to upgrade and get a specific hardware when possible. At the end, you will have to make a compromise. You will not get everything you would have liked to have."
"This solution is a little bit pricey."
"The price is worth the quality."
